Another player who looks like he's being asked to play 4D chess out there. He'd do well at a club with a simple properly thought-out game plan.

Yeah definitely. He's really overcomplicating his game right now. He was better on the right than the left but Diogo, just take a touch and put the ball in the box. It doesn't have to be perfect.

He's athletic, vibrant, capable. He just doesn't have a clue what he's meant to be doing on the pitch.

In what way? If you put Mazraoui in the same position he looks equally as clueless. I don't think Mazraoui has a reputation of being a clueless player.

What the "narrative" of my view based on what I've seen? OK genius.
He's just having a bad season. This isn't Amorim (or Ten Hag before him) overcomplicating anything. The wing backs in Amorim's system are one of the simplest roles, you're basically doing the same job as a wide midfielder in a 4-4-2 with more tracking back.

He was one of our only players to come out of last season with any credit, yet was awful for the first few months of this season playing the same system with the same manager. The idea that the 3-4-3 is a different sport that's too complicated for professional football players to grasp is crazy.

He should be the first on the sell list. Not good enough for any type of formation, it does not matter 433 or 343.

He's not good enough, needs to go
He’s just signed a 5 year deal. I like the idea of taking punts on players like him, he was an up and coming player and only 20m. But the whole point of doing that is so that if it doesn’t work out, you can easily recoup that money or make a profit. It doesn’t work if you just keep offering them long contracts and wage increases. We should’ve taken what we could get for him and reinvested it.

We really need players that we can rely on to have 7/10 performances every week. Dalot has a short spell of 8’s and 9’s every few years and then reverts back to 5’s and 6’s.
Get rid

Dalots best ability is his availability and that's where it ends, for me at least. Everything else he's just bad or ok at.

Offers nothing as a wingback, and not a good enough player to amend his position to a wide CB in this formation.

Needs to be shipped out as his limitations are very easy to see. Weak point in our team for sure

Made some lovely crosses and kept it ticking nicely. Got tight in defense and helped keep a good Spurs attack to very few chances.

Everton 2:2 Man Utd New
The worst player that have been a regular starter for United in my 30 years of supporting the club. His attempted clearence for the first goal today was so bad that it's just comical.

It's been said so many time, but you just can't legislate for brain-dead performances; well I guess could by not playing Dalot, but I can't see who replaces him. In any event, upgrading him must be a priority.

This is now the priority position alongside a Striker, a ghost today except messing up a clearance for the first then disappeared the rest of the game, unacceptable and made us so one sided

He just does absolutely nothing for us.
If the forward positions weren’t such a shambles at the moment I’d try out Garnacho there.

I swear Dalot's dad must be some kind of mafia type. Can't think of any reason other that fear of death as to why the managers start him all the time.

He's had decent spells over the years in a four at the back but in this system he's absolutely terrible. Sadly looking lost in the system seems to have made him lose his mind when it comes to basics of a footballer. If we're sticking with the manager, we should be cashing in on Dalot in the summer as believe it or not, I think there would be a half decent market for him.

He’s got no chance in this system as he can’t play in the back 3 and he clearly isn’t a wingback. When he was this bad at LWB he had more of an excuse.

I think his good season was a bit overexaggerated too though. It was helped by his team mates not really making claims for themselves because apart from being available and being consistently decent to good, there wasn't much to show for. He just doesn't carry any threat going forwards. When ETH played him in somewhere inverted role, this issue didn't pop up (it instead popped up with the wingers who also were no threat) but Dalot has never shown anything to indicate that he has more than average attacking level. Which is half of the role description, these days maybe even more. It shouldn't have been any shock that a wingback role will expose that issue even more.

Wan Bissaka was infinitely better. We just got conned by Dalot's misplaced confidence in smashing shots over from 30 yards because the rest of the team created nothing

Is there anyone left defending this guy? He’s rubbish
I still believe in him albeit I’ve never thought his level was going to be amazing. I do think he can be a very solid player though, I would guess the issue for him is he’s instructed not to just take a touch and put a ball into the box, there’s more onus on the WBs to be like wingers and attack/maybe take people or come inside and he can’t really do that.

I'm repeating myself, but he should get sold. He will get us some good money. He'll never become a good player, but somehow his reputation isn't that bad. Get him sold for 20-30m and get an upgrade. I really can't stand his poor defending and constant brainfarts, while providing zero goal threat.

Rubbish. Again. All those defending him have been nowhere to be seen for ages in this thread.

One not shitty performance and they'll be back calling him Cafu.

Should be top of the list of players that needs to be sold to generate funds to spend on new players.

Offers nothing in the team. Crap going forward and crap defending.

Again, stupid decision to move on from AWB while keeping Dalot. Previously I think it might be justified, but Dalot has reverted to being absolute crap week after week.

AWB was always the better player. Brought in to replace Dalot because he obviously wasn't good enough 6 years ago.

Dalot's a decent full back but he doesn't have the positional awareness, engine, or progressive movement to be a wing back. We can already see that Dorgu has that edge where he's willing and able not just to make runs in behind, but also to attempt to dribble and carry past an opposing defender - Dalot just doesn't have that ability when he's alone on the flank.

Thought/hoped he would iimprove when moving to the right but he's been as bad. It might be his confidence is shattered as is the case with many of the current squad.

His only positive is that he is always available. But he really is stupid and cowardly. All too happy to pass it sideways or back, than take the player on and put a cross.

Absolute rubbish. AWB has yet to be even capped and he's 27 and was bought for 50 million. Dalot is in the Portuguese squad and is a better technical player. Both are actually not United standard though but I suspect that when Dalot leaves it will be for a better club than West Ham.
