Set up a few good chances from the left today. Cross for Zirkzee header, and at least one cutback for Eriksen. We need to see that a lot more going forward, if our left side is going to be any threat at all.

Yeah, he does hit a mean cross with his left foot. Remember earlier in the season when he picked out someone at the far post with an absolute worldie?

He's so damn stupid in his decisions off the ball. It's bad to the point of wondering if he's some kind of double agent. I don't know any player who so consistently fouls an opposition player boxed in his own third with their back to goal, with two other United players in support!

It's so so damn frustrating. How hard is it to not sabotage advantages by choosing not to push some in the back all the time? No one is asking him to split the atom here...... just use your common sense.

Is this an actual stat? He looked absolutely shite to me save for a few instances

Makes you wonder how much baggage you’re bringing to your opinion of his performance, right?

I can remember three shots at goal set up by Dalot tonight. Two for Eriksen and one for Zirkzee. Can you remember another player who set up more?

Just feel he’s not decisive enough in the offensive third unless he’s played in on the overlap, a lot of times he’s 1vs1 and stalls before playing a pass back.

Yeah he had 4 key passes, more than anyone else. Not fascinated with stats generally but his passing was 84% tonight and that definately wasn't going for the safe option all the time.

Definately a strange game for people to be criticising his end product when he was our most creative player, but as I said earlier given the mood swing it's no surprise.

I actually don't, so fair enough to him in this respect. He was also wasteful with the ball on several occasions and made some mind boggling decisions. He's a wildly inconsistent player

Was overly harsh, but the problem is him playing such a vital position. By design he will see a lot of ball and has to be one of our most creative players. It is the reason why I don't mind seeing Amad so often as a wingback.

And the frustrating thing is that he is capable of absolutely sublime attacking play in one moment and just losses it in 5 games to follow. Rinse and repeat. 2 or 3 times today he had so much space that I wondered if Spurs left that side more open on purpose.

He will get tons of chances this season (well done on being available so much during his time here) and I hope he can improve.

He’s been pretty poor all season. Frustrates the hell out of me. I just find tonight a strange time to criticise. I thought he played quite well.

You need intelligent players and Dalot is on the other end of that scale. Awkward positioning, doesn’t react quickly enough to what’s happening around him, plays some insanely daft passes.

A good friend of mine is a coach in Iceland. Of course not high level but he has alot of knowledge that I had never thouhgt about.
He once told me a funny thing about fullbacks.
In his experience most fullbacks are either left or right fullbacks, not both. The other side of the pitch is like a latin for some of them and they have to learn to ride a bicycle that turns the other way. We all remember how good Dalot has was last season when he played on his side of the pitch. Maybe I’m wrong, but he has had to play on the left almost all season and that made me think of what my friend said.
I’m not saying that is the problem, but I won’t rule it out either.

Gotta agree with others, this was actually quite a productive game from him in terms of attacking contributions and overall game. At least 3 clear cut chances laid on a plate.

It's still below what he was showing last season but it's much better than what he's shown the last 5-10 games.

Thought he was our worst player vs City but was better going forward today.

Agree with many here that LWB is top priority for us. Hopefully January we can do something.

He gets so much space and so much of the ball in a good area on the left. He ended up with 4 key passes against Spurs which is a lot, personally I was still dissappointed and cant help but imagine what might happen if we Shaw from a couple of seasons ago crossing for Rashford, or a winger like Amad with the ball in those positions

He just isn’t good at anything. He’s okay at about 4 things in a (generous) general John O Shea kinda way, but largely below quality in most things, particularly crossing, or tackling, or defending in general. Unfortunately he’s a full back.

I've felt he's been improving the last few weeks and that the criticism he was getting was a bit unfair, and that's especially true today. Set up arguably our best four attacking moments before we actually did score (two cutbacks to Eriksen, a cutback to someone else who I can't remember, and the cross to Zirkzee), solid defensively and good at moving the ball forward out of the defence. Lost the ball in a dangerous spot once but immediately won it back himself. One time that he absolutely should have been in a more attacking position as an option but had sat back too deep, and another few times that perhaps could have been the same (but no more than Mazraoui on the other side).

Overall while he's still not playing as well as he did last season, I feel there's been a slow but steady improvement recently. Hopefully that continues.

Denis Irwin he aint. He has dropped off since the Euros - remember he was dropped from starting Portuguese 11. Needs a break. Still think he has high resale value or potential to excel at RB when not overplayed.

I had him in front of me for the first half. I'll say this, if Mazraoui was playing that role I don't think he'd be doing any better. There wasn't really a lot of attacks going down Dalot's wing, he was consistently reliable with the ball both receiving it in tight spaces, receiving long passes, getting up and down the pitch, defensively etc. He just isn't an actual left wingback, especially when part of that role requires him to be
left winger . So I'll judge him once he's put back on the right as he has always been far more comfortable there than at left back. Personally I think he has better attributes for playing RWB than Mazraoui which is not a slight on Mazraoui.

I agree with this.

Honestly, even at amateur levels that a lot of us played, switching sides is really difficult when it comes to specific moments of the game (getting to the byline and putting a ball inside the box for instance).

Grew into the game first half and created a really good chance to play Amad in. Then quite typically, gets asked to go the left side second half and does okay. Should have kept him at RWB. Amad was struggling to get into the game second half because Mazraoui was getting pushed back and our midfield minus Ugarte just couldn't find him enough.

we absolutely need to make LWB a priority signing in January, Dalot is awful on the left. he either tries to cut in and shoot at row Z or he steps back and tries to hoof a floating ball that ends up out of play or in the keeper's hands 99% of the time. at least on the right, he can deliver an okayish cross now and then, also he can use his pace and physicality to drive into the box and cause trouble, on the left he just kills every move.

If we don't intend to sign a LWB then I would like to see him at RWB and Antony at LWB with Maz at RCB. As good as Maz was so far he just doesn't have the pace or the physicality to play as a wing-back, his driving runs from the back are a useful tool so he should remain at the back 3 in my opinion.

The first goal is on dalot. One on one facing the defender. Just stops and does a stupid lazy pass to bruno and then a yellow leading to a red.
Take on your man you dumb asshole.

Can't defend can't attack . What the heck is he in the team for?
