I'm a big fan of his and have loved seeing him perform for us for such a long time. But, tonight is the night where I think it's time for an upgrade. Our football (and football in general) is moving on. You need keeper to be more than just shot-stoppers. He's limited. He never comes for crosses, he never commands his box, his passing is utter, utter dogshit, and he is not brave enough. His instinctive saves are world class, no doubt. But everything else is just not good enough. Really sad to say it, but it's over.

If Ten Hag allows the club brass to extend De Gea, I don't see any reason to continue to back him. He might have had the excuse last summer that he was just joining and didn't want to upset the apple cart but he has zero excuse this summer. You don't HAVE to persist with De Gea. Play Heaton, Play Butland for all I care. They're not making £375k a week. I'm fine with either of them in goal. I'm fine with the tea lady in goal at this point.

The Spanish must wonder why a senior player who can’t make their national team is on a monster salary. De Gea, more than Smalling, Jones, Rojo, Evans, Lindelof, Bailly, Maguire, is the common denominator behind our defence being porous, despite his shot stopping. 300k a week for a Spanish Shay Given.
