Copa America 2024 - Argentina Win

massive upset for Venezuela last night over Mexico....that said, this mexican team is a shell of itself not just in terms of talent but clearly in leadership. The english press is harsh while the mexican press is brutal which brings me great joy

This Mexican team is so bad. They keep making questionable coaching choices and then move on immediately. They need a overhaul and someone that they can attempt to build with since they are guaranteed a spot at the next WC.

I do enjoy their downfall because their fans are miserable and watching them play is like watching toddlers have temper tantrums.

Just watched the highlights of the Ecuador-Jamaica game. Jamaica were robbed. Ecuador's penalty seemed harsh as the ball was headed onto defenders arm from point blank range, but he gave it, and then an identical situation happens in the other box and ref doesn't give it. Both decisions were VAR checked. Zero reasons to give one and not the other.

I came here to see if there were any posts about this. What a fkn burglary. I feel for them.

Mexico-Ecuador shaping up to be quite a game. Ecuador will have opportunities to counter.

Dunno, didn't notice it was pressbox but I imagine it was pricey as well.
Hell, I think press eats for free at MLB games. I've seen the banquet set up in the Trop for the media & it was pretty badass, but never saw pricing nor POS / checkout lines.

I got Uruguay to win the tournament at +500 before it started. Liking the way that looks right now.

We have to beat all the other favourites to make it, every single one of them.

Can beat any of them, mind, but it all adds up in injuries, tiredness, cards, etc. Fingers crossed.

Uruguay dominating Bolivia and leading through our very own Facu Pellistri with a cheeky header and now even Nunez has scored.
Nunez has 10 goals in his last 7 matches for Uruguay. And he’s not been offsides as usual although he is hitting the inevitable crossbar every now and again.

Uruguay have a such a balanced squad from front to back. Bielsa has really transformed their style of play as well.

By 2026, their key players eg Nunez, Pellestri, Fede, Bentancur, Araujo should all be in/nearing their prime

With Messi likely out for the next group stage match, I’d like to see Argentina go with this lineup

4-1-2-1-2

Martinez
Molina—Romero—Licha—Tagliafico
Paredes
Enzo ———— Palacios
Mac Allister
Alvarez —— Lautaro

It’d play to their strength in the midfield

Scaloni already told that he is thinking of giving time to the kids (Carboni as an example) and those that do not play most of the time (Martinez Quarta), so I expect some kind of odd squad. Let's hope they do not fvck it up too much and loose the first place.

México and the US out in the group stage is a pretty certain possibility right now. An Argentina - Uruguay final looks inevitable, maybe Colombia can do something about it.

Brasil is Brasil, it's still alive and in KO Competitions everything can happen. Colombia has been playing really good and Lorenzo is doing a great job for them without much noise around.

PD: Watching the Uruguay vs Bolivia highlights, Bielsa is perfect for this type of tournaments if he grabs a team close to them before burning them...Uruguay it's always hungry and has lots of kids with great stamina and talent.

Can you still finish 2nd and why does that even matter, you'd play Venezuela

How great is to have a Bielsa coached team. It brings amazing content to the spectators.

This Uruguay team would beat any team.
Luckily for us, they beat us for the WCQ at home which I think will have the players mentally prepared to face them if we get to the final.

Day 9 - Colombia v Costa Rica / Paraguay v Brazil
Pathetic penalty from Paquetá

Who is The forward Lisandro?

2-0, first international goal for Savio

If it stands

Edit: It does

he's never struck me as a particularly unlikeable player (granted, I am very biased).
He has no class. The guy tries too hard to show that he has "attitude" all the time in the grossest way possible.

Some guys complain about Mbappé or Bellingham, but, despite being pricks, they have composture. Vinícius has an uncharming "in your face" attitude.
