Come on now, the ref was busy waving Uruguay to play on.

Based on this and basically every call tonight this guy should never ref another game again. Genuinely the worst refereeing performance I have ever seen.

there is no way this guy doesn't get sanctioned for his refereeing but even more so for refusing to shake the captains hand. that's just a blatant sign of bias towards an opponent

i've played in matches for the US in countries outside our borders and I've honestly NEVER witnessed that sheer blatant disrespect

Pulisic told him to celebrate with Uruguay

Saw this and all the fuss about it. No idea how they don't call offside for the goal. Pulisic shouldn't have even bothered to try and shake his hand.

No doubt we'll see this ref screwing up games at the world cup in a couple of years.

Now you know what Brazilian clubs face in Libertadores. There isn't a year in which at least one of our clubs doesn't suffer from a refereeing like that.

never in my life have i seen a ref go to issue a yellow card to a player and allow for a quick free kick and waive play on like this guy did....i mean shocking really

I liked the way the US played in the beginning. They were aggressive and needed to go get goals. However Uruguay can grind out games like this. I know a lot don’t like this style and it felt I was watching Tavarez Uruguay where they had just Ugarte types in the MF only and average offensive FB but great forwards.
I was hoping US would keep going for it but that would mean leaving open for counters that this newly designed side is great at.

Day 13 - Brazil v Colombia / Costa Rica v Paraguay
Day 13 - July 2

Brazil v Colombia - 2am UK time

Costa Rica v Paraguay - 2am UK time

Every club will face some unfair club in Libertadores when you are not local, not just Brazilians

No, it's not equal. Brazilian teams, particularly against Argentines, are historically severely prejudiced in Libertadores. It is not for nothing that we pratically gave up playing that tournament for 20 years. Even Independiente and Velez presidents(or whatever were their positions) confessed how they manipulated Conmebol to harm Santos and São Paulo, respectively. Almost all Brazilian fans with enough participations have a history of being completely raped by the referee when facing Boca Juniors(Palmeiras 2000 and 2001, Fluminense 2012, Corinthians 2013(this one was the worst), Cruzeiro 2018, Santos 2020, Palmeiras last year(although wasn't as terrible, only five minutes of extra time was a joke; it deserved at least 12), just to remember some). Good luck trying to find games in which a Brazilian club had those kind of grotesque errors in its favor when facing a big club from Argentina. We are the first to point out when a Brazilian rival is benefited, as we obviously want to find a stain in their victory, but that very rarely happens in Libertadores(doesn't happen at all against Argentines).

I noticed that you pretend to have a ponderated attitude, "that kind of thing happens to everyone, mate", when the situation obviously has a more affected side.

I don't see how he gets sanctioned. This is the outcome CONMEBOL wanted. Job done.

It was his first ever Copa match and only his 7th center ref appearance at senior international level. How does someone with so little experience get assigned the last group stage match with all to play for? It was obvious after 20 mins he was in over his head, lost control of the match, and it was going to get ugly.

On the other hand I'm noticing that you have a tendecy to victimize your Nation or Clubs, it's not the first time.

Good luck? are you serious? the Palmerias vs Boca match in Brazil from 2000 had two elbows, a punch on Riquelme's face, a fan entering the pitch to punch a linesman and the whole game the fans throwing staff to the coaching stuff, these last type of actions, no matter how many wrong calls both teams might have faced during a game ends with a suspended match (just for the linesman), yet the match was still played and Palmeiras ended tying it. Typical Libertadores, "siga siga", it's just stuff that we had to deal, like Palmeiras had to deal withn a more localist reff in Boca, both matches had many dubious and wrong calls, but the madness that happened in Brazil was trully extreme.

Every single club in Libertadors had a story with a match with to the very least dubious calls, or unfair treatment. Bigger clubs will have more on their favor, lesser clubs more against them. But it's a competition that when you travel you know that from the Hotel, to the fans that go there, to the matches, shyte will happen and you'll have to deal with it. In fact the treatment of fans and the Clubs in Hotels most of times it's way better deal in Argentina than in Brazil, were some serious over the top shyte happens most of the times.

I’m really looking forward to Brazil vs Colombia and seeing how the Brazilians look against a stronger side. They’ll surely still have too much for the Colombians, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they make hard work of it.

For me the Brazilian "downfall" that many people talk about is silly, it only can feel like that in comparison to prior generations full of phenoms. This Brazilian team it's every day adding new very young fellas (and many of them can easily end having a huge status at the end of their carreer). It's in the process of maturing, it's a list of many new names in the process of becoming a real TEAM and they can still beat anyone out there. The Costa Rica game wasn't as bad as it was said, they just lacked goals in the final third, no coach builds a TEAM in a day.
Colombia is playing very seriously and that it's sthg that they had struggled in the past. They have been great in many matches, great friendlies included, hopely it should end in a great match.

Raphinha back in the starting lineup. Are you having a bloody joke?

Vini being out of the next match makes this one a must-win, so we can get Panama instead of Uruguay

You'd think America of all places would have the semiautomatic technology for offsides

some of these VAR checks make the premier league look efficient.
IMO there needs to be a time limit in place for VAR checks. If it takes too long to make a decision, then by definition it isn't "clear and obvious".

Pretty dinamic game...I don't get why nowadays every team complicates themselves in excess when having the ball in their own defensive line
