Copa America 2024 - Argentina Win

I wish we had Martinez at United. Monster of a keeper.

Give us that sweet Costa vs Martinez shootout at 2026. No one cares about the old men meeting in a world cup really.

Also shoutout to the italian feed who CUT INTO COMMERCIALS AFTER ARGENTINA'S 4TH PENALTY

I'm very normal about this

You have to wonder why Arsenal sold him. Aston Villa got a bargain at 20m.
A mystery that has only been explained 100 times...:boring:

We played badly, Scaloni had a day off in the office, thank you Dibu.

The only ones that saved face: Dibu, Cuti, Licha (I don't get why he took him out) and Macca (Nico G thanks for his solidarity and non stop committ).

Messi shouldn't have started, way out of form, he should have never play the second part either, at least let him be 5/10 minutes and took him out.

I want Palacios as 5 (Enzo doesn't deserve to play) and Macca as 8 (he was very good as 5 but it's not using him to the max) with both changing roles during the game.
Di Maria should have started too and I hate Molina, I only can bare him in his actual form if we play 3 on defense with Ota, Licha and Cuti. Didn't get either Lo Celso in such a bad field with such a troubled and rough affair.

Anyway, we just survived, better change lots of stuff for the next game.

Yup, I don't understand that decision. I thought they were going to change to 3 at the back but it doesn't seem to be the case.

Me too, very bad decision in my view from Scaloni

Don't know if today was an outlier or if it has been the case for Chelsea as well, but Enzo Fernandes looked very ordinary out there. Definitely not a 100m player.

Very bad form. He did only one thing good, his movement to arrive in dangeorus areas, but he put me even more nervous in how he resolved those that were really clear chances to obtain a goal. He is coming back from an injury, yet he had a so so season in Chelsea prior to his injury so him instead of Palacios that is on fire it's kind of bizarre or an excessive good gesture towards him from the coaching stuff for him to regain form and confidence.

Ah, coming back from an injury might explain it.

Just too good that Messi. Such balls to try the paneka. It inspired the win.

All jokes aside he deserves to take flak for that. If you want to try a panenka with the all important first penalty you better make sure you don’t mess it up. Not even hitting the target is poor, got Martinez to thank for bailing him out. Wonder how fit he is though because he looked well off it, or maybe this is just age taking its toll.

Would Uruguay fans prefer to face Brazil or Colombia in the quarters?
Didn't care, we've always known we have to beat both to reach the final against Argentina (or Venezuela? They are flying, good stuff).

That match of Brazil vs. Uruguay will be hard for both teams, I hope whoever wins is drained for the Semifinal in case we hopefully beat Panama.

I believe we can play the final. Come on COLOMBIA!
 Jammy fecks, you got the 2nd easiest route after Argentina and pushed Brazil over to our typical Copa hard level lane.

I think it stupid that quarterfinals and semi go straight to pens after 90

CONMEBOL teams play each other so regularly i.e. WCQ that it doesn’t add more value to the game going to ET. Copa America is really like a CONMEBOL wcq but with a trophy.

There’s been calls to have the 90 mins then Pens introduced for all tourneys. Often times we see leggy play in ET and the football takes a nose dive.

Ah, coming back from an injury might explain it.

Would have liked to see Palacios get more mins

The referee was very bad yesterday. There was no penalty, De Paul's arm was stuck in his body, Ecuador's goal should have been ruled offside, the striker interferes with the play and the referee stopped a counter-attack that would have left J. Alvarez free to score. A disastrous performance.

When all the decisions go one way, it gives you something to think about. Lucky for Conmebol that Argentina went through.

No. He wasn't interfering with the play at all and Martinez was not getting near it anyways. Would have been incredibly harsh and would have been along the lines of the goal we got disallowed for "subjective" offside against Fulham.

You are doing Ecuador a disservice if you think they got all the decisions their way.

Ecuador sacking their coach greatly surprises me, had a good start to World cup qualifiers and with some of their young players they'll be a decent outsider to have a run at next World Cup.

Day 15 - QF 2 - Venezuela v Canada
Decent match, this one. 1-0 but Canada might regret missing some of these chances.

Canada's poor finishing has let them down. They gave a good game against Argentina too. Both David and Larin guilty of missing good chances. They should hope it doesn't come back to bite them in the ass.

Been most impressed by Schaffelburg and Bombito from the Canadian team. Schaffelburg looks a tidy little player and Bombito looks like he's ready to move to a club in Europe.

This ref. Goalie knocks the ball away from a throw in. Doesn’t call a yellow. Stops play to let goalie back in net before throw in is made. Blatant cheating.

 Another blatant foul by Venezuela goes uncalled, seconds later the ref couldn't wait to blow a whistle on Canada for a foul.

This is atrociously biased officiating.

Our commentators just said that Peru made a complaint against this ref after their match against Chile.

This twat of a ref is gonna call a penalty

These are some shit penalties between these two teams.
