Copa America 2024 - Argentina Win

feck off Suarez.

Canada dominated the game but we finish like amateurs.

Amateurish defending at the end too.

Both sides are unbeaten in a long time. Should be a good game. Fancy Argentina to nick it though

We beat them 2-0 in November. I reckon Colombia are the stronger side, but may be fazed by the occasion.

The way their rightback got sent off In the semi, or how James was losing his shit with the ref... that's the sort of thing Argentina know how to handle.

Messi bosses referees and the whole 25mins half time Shakira gig shows how much more invested the organisers are in stuff like Messimania than the actual sport and a fair outcome.

You have to know how to play and win despite that and Colombia have never shown any ability to do so. You have to start doing it at some point though.

There's no comparison between Colombia/Uruguay and Argentina in terms squad strength. Argentina is way above both. Uruguay winning against Argentina is a rarity. They won one in 2013 and had to wait for 10 years to win another one in 2023. Colombia's record is similar against Argentina.

The problem with Argentina is they are not as motivated as they were in the previous Copa/WC and missing tons of chances. But, they will likely be motivated enough today due to Di Maria's retirement and Messi playing his last Copa. If they click, it's over for Colombia or any other team.

What does 2013 have to do with 2024?

Argentina have a good spine, particularly the base, but going forward the fact remains you are talking about the "clicking probability" of a retiring ADM and Messi on his last Copa.

It's been like that for ages, heavily dependent on those two jointly. Every time ADM pulled a hammie it was automatically game over (no click possible).

At some point the wealth of talent Argentina can draw upon will have to stand up and be counted, but we are yet to see that. Mind, we haven't seen Colombia handling a big occasion successfully so it is more likely Messi and ADM turn it on 10-15 minutes and that being enough.

That those are the only years Uruguay has beaten Argentina.

But anyways, as always, people are underrating Argentina and overrating this colombian side. Uruguay were much better than them, in fact they were far superior with 11 players and Betancur on the field.

I don't think the click is a probabilty. This team has proven they get better as the tournament goes on, and I'm sure they'll step on the accelerator for this game. This Argentina side plays way better as a team and the improvement in every line to the other Argentina teams in the past is remarkable, especially in defense and midfield. Argentina has elite players now in Romero, Licha Martinez, Alexis Mac Allister, Lautaro Martinez. And the other players such as De Paul, Alvarez, Paredes, Enzo, Emi Martinez are a great set of good players that can turn to be great at some games. You've got the incoming of Carboni, Garnacho, Almada and in the future Echeverri, Mastantuono, Parmo or Nico Paz.

This team also has intelligence and fighting spirit, if they have to cut the game they'll do it, and if they have to play they'll do it. They know how to handle games and don't think they'll get desperate if Colombia scores or anyhing like that.

Colombia has the pressure here, their country is expecting for them to win. This is the most important match in their history, even if they won CA in 2001. They will have to handle that. If Argentina scores first it will be really tough for them. I believe most of their players felt the pressure against uruguay like Muñoz or James (who had to be taken out because he was about to get a second yellow card) and others are overperforming and are probably tired aswell.

I'm happy that Colombia is the finalist, as I wanted them to win this if Argentina doesn't get it. It will be a good thing for South America's game (this and Venezuela's campaign so far).

Sadly you just shat your pants and didn't reach the final to see who gets more Copas :p

By the way, many people said Argentina had the easiest side (and it was scripted, rigged, ArgenFIFA etc) but the "poor" Canada team didn't loose against any of Peru, Chile, Venezuela and Uruguay. Yet Argentina beat them comfortably twice.

You're aware that Argentina only lost twice in the last 62 games they played while winning Copa America, Finalissima, and the World Cup, right? This is one of the most successful NTs of all time. So, they click more often than not. And, even when they don't, they still know how to win. The way you're talking sounds like Argentina is a team that looks great on the paper but is inconsistent & dysfunctional, this is more like today's Brazil.

Other than Messi & Di Maria, Argentina has probably the best GK and center-back duo in the world. The midfield with Enzo, Mac Allister, and RDP is also world class. Add to that Manchester City's Alvarez and Inter's Lautaro Martinez, this is a very good team. That doesn't mean that Colombia cannot win today as in tournaments anything can happen, but I don't see them as favorites today.

Lolwut? I take it winning 1-0 about four times in a row is then "a decade of dominance"?

Can you please remind me who won the last two Copas played in Argentina? And who knocked you out of them? :p

In any case, I do like this team and appreciate how Scaloni spoke out putting things in their right place. If anything I prefer this side overtaking us. I would rather have had the chance to face up full strength (to me it was as good as over at half time against Brazil).

No worries, the Batistuta generation already had got one over us and we got back on top. We can do it again

I truly believe in our chances for the final, we are playing the best we have been in ages, and we haven’t show fear against any team, having played and beaten greats such as Brazil, Germany, Spain and Uruguay. As James said in an interview yesterday, we have more hunger than them, and that’s crucial, to quote Apollo Creed, we got the eye of the tiger.

Argentina is a strong team and it will be difficult to beat them, having a great GK, the best center backs in NT football, and a pretty strong attack. Messi and Di Maria are past their best, but they can still produce magic.

We need to win it in regular time, for extra time they got more quality in their bench, and on PKs Dibu is the best GK in the world.

VAMOS COLOMBIA HP!!! SE VIENE LA SEGUNDA!!!

Day 20 - Final - Argentina v Colombia
Day 20 - Final - July 15

Argentina v Colombia - 1am UK time (Hard Rock Stadium, Miami)

The euros final has been utterly boring so far. Can’t wait for the actual espectacular final with shit referees, Shakira’s halftime 25 min show, lots of kicks and occasionally some good football

Fans jumped the fence, officer hit with a rock. Just another day in Florida then

This is mad when you think about it. For a country with such heavy handed police/security in general, how the feck is this shit happening?
I dunno if it’s cos there’s not really any sort of hooliganism at American sports that they just let their guard down in general. But really need to get their act together for the World Cup.

Yeah, ticketless fans showing up to games really isn't a thing here. In some cases, fans show up to tailgate but never attempt to enter the stadium so this is a new thing for us. Agree, this is a big warning for how we handle world cup security.

People will do anything to see Shakira

The Argentina TV is reporting that fans managed to open the gates now, and it's a real mess.
Hope this doesn't become a tragedy, but I am expecting the worst

Colombians have done wonders for South America's reputation in the US. They'll probably think we're all the same, since we also use yellow shirts. Thanks a lot.

Americans will just think they were coked up and doing their thing. They are more understanding than you think.

Seriously though, haven't seen any violence so far, just looked like your usual mall swarming. But trying to get to seats instead of grabbing stuff.
