Copa America 2024 - Argentina Win

Not really. The first yellow should have been for a foul on Pellistri earlier on.

Agree the offence getting the first yellow was just the entire half's standard tactical foul fodder from both.

It's always a choppy game like that with Brazil lately
With Brazil? Uruguay is out there almost playing rugby

Another brilliant refereeing in this brilliant tournament.

Funny thing is, this is actually pretty tame for a Brazil vs Uruguay match

I know some of Nunez’s finishing can be hilarious but he’s definitely a handful for defenders at times too.

I wonder what Rodrygo's nickname is due to, because he's definitely not that fast.

Endrick trying to become a national hero by himself every time he touches the ball is annoying

Endrick is a kid but someone needs to tell him that he can pass the ball

I don't understand Copa America footballing culture

On one hand, you have teams like Brazil, Argentina etc who have, and continued to play or try their best to play scintilating, flair based exciting football, even when they dont have the personnel to pull it off.

You have Uruguay who sometimes fit that category too, Chile sometimes etc.

Then, you have teams like Guatamela, Honduras and Colombia who, quite frankly, commit football terrorism sometimes. They literally go around the pitch kicking people, honestly sometimes it looks like for the sake of it.

Every Honduras and Guatamela match I've ever watched, I'm left in shock because some of the tackles that fly there are instant reds in Europe.

It's bizarrre.

Odd examples as Guatemala and Honduras are not in this tournament and are not even in COMNEBOL.

Congratulations!

Random, I know, but whenever I see you post, I always think of Falcao.

I usually watch a lot of Copa America tournaments because I love watching live football in the middle of the night, but I haven't watched any of this years. Uruguay-Brazil is going to be the first game I watch of this one.
Thank you! I’m really hopeful we can get to the final and even win the whole thing.

Falcao here is a legend, the best Colombian player ever together with James, even surpassing greats such as Valderrama and Asprilla. He recently joined Colombian side Millinarios (his boyhood club) for six months, the father of one of my best friends for school is one of the owners of Millonarios, so I hope I can get a pic with the man himself.

The two teams are regularly invited and take part in qualification rounds over the past two decades.

Every match I have ever watched, and it has been plenty, be it in qualification or in the occasions they make it to the finals...it's been horrifying.

Really dunno what this guy is trying to argue. It’s like the 10th foul he’s committed this game & that one was awful

Watching Brazil's midfield is like watching United's.

It's more like watching France's.

2 #6's and a #8, all who are not very creative but are very physical and can run around a lot but don't have the quality on the other end of the pitch.

They definitely are not. The only Copa América tournaments that had any qualifying rounds were the 2016 and 2024 editions, for the CONCACAF teams.

Well that's not true, because I watched them as a teenager in the early 2000's, the one that Colombia won and Honduras were there and were comitting footballing atrocities even back then.

I loved Varela whilst he was here

Did he even play much? I remember about as much of his game time as I do of Ritchie de-laet and that random full back we signed who scored a Messi-esque goal vs Wigan, dribbling past like 4 players and then never played again.

That was a weird tournament. It almost got moved at the last minute, a couple teams including Argentina pulled out, and CONMEBOL had to scramble to get replacements including Honduras. Definitely not the norm.

Mexico, Honduras, Costa Rica and if I remember correctly Japan, were invited back then. Normally 2 or 3 teams from CONCACAF and even Asia are invited, but in 2001 there were more due to Argentina refusing to assist due to threats made by FARC terrorist group.
