A different/better manager could still get something out of him maybe.

Under ETH and his ludicrous tactics he's got no hope though.

I genuinely feel bad for him. He needs a break from the team. The tactics are not great but he has also been awful, he cant miss simple passes and be disposed like that.

I agree. I wasn't even angry with him yesterday, just felt sorry for him in the end. You could see it in his face. He's not stupid, I'm sure he knows he was out of his depth, must be a horrible feeling for a professional footballer who has played at the highest level.

I feel for him on a human level at the moment. Hope he's switched off social media and is taking care of himself to be honest. If we played a more convention midfield 3 without a 10 we could probably hide his legs a little bit. But definitely not in a 2, unfortunately.

If he went back to Real then they'd slot him back in seemlessly.

But he is been made to look a fool for us.

I'm sure it's not unique to our club but I absolutely hate this "let's just compensate for it" mentality.

Playing a midfielder who can barely run and trying to find tactics to compensate for it. Playing a midfielder who can barely run and trying to find midfield partners to compensate for him. Spending 80 million on the world's slowest centre back and pretending it will be no big deal as long as you set the team up correctly.

Just sign players in their physical prime, who have the physical qualities to play in an elite team. Old, slow players are a burden on the team, and their "experience" around the dressing room and on the pitch is clearly bringing us nothing given we're the worst United team in living memory for most of us.

Real Madrid actually have common sense to move on their aging stars just before they suffer the massive physical decline - see Ronaldo, Varane, Casemiro.

We do the opposite and buy said players.

Not what I'm saying - I don't think any DM can play well in ETH system full stop.

I agree. Someone with a bit more energy and stamina (Ugarte) Will hopefully be able to cover more ground and bit tire as much towards the end of games, but if we continue to play the way we have been then it relies on the DM or centre backs never misplacing a short pass or getting intercepted, which isn't realistic.

Even further up the field, if we lose possession and get countered, having thrown everybody up the pitch, Ugarte will be similarly exposed.

First goal is a mistake but I am adamant he is fouled for the second goal.

There's a case to be made for a foul in the second and third goals, some referees will give those others won't, it really all depends on the intensity of the game I suppose and how they want to referee it.

I think Utd against Arsenal a couple of years ago where a goal was pulled back because Odegaard did something similar. I also remember a Utd goal, maybe against Liverpool, where something similar happened and it wasn't pulled back for a foul.

I don’t know why people talk about the Arsenal one like it was remotely controversial, Eriksen got bundled over and tripped too, it was so bizarre the ref didn’t blow up.

Was he ever that good to begin with? Or was it just playing next to Modric and Kroos that made it look that way?

Yeah you can see the reaction from Garnacho too.
Ok we were poor against Liverpool and the way we played we deserves to loose we can all agree with that …. But if we look at the match of the referee it was like in his mind he already made the decision of who is going to win the match , he was like a liverpool player or a referee who was on the pitch in favour of the reds side. Loook at his positioning it’s very shocking , I have the feeling that on this match he was escorting the scousers to the win !
I don’t know if you understand what im saying, don’t you ?

This! Dumb to buy Casemiro in the first place with the rebuilding that was needed. But even a blind bat can see he'd be much better utilized as a playmaker further upfield.

You're kidding, right?

Madrid only ever sell players they want rid of. They always seem to know exactly when to do it. They knew this was coming.

Glad he is staying to fight for his place. Never as bad as he is made out to be.

We set him up for failure. Hopefully things change, whether its ETH finally changing his approach and/or pairing him with Ugarte and/or ETH being gone.

Anybody playing in his position within this team setup/structure would have their legs gone by the 2nd season.

Him Ugarte and Bruno/Mainoo is the way to go forward for the next few games ..
Or maybe
A diamond with Mainoo and Bruno on the tip of the diamond

Spot on.

Have faith he will turn it around.

Southampton 0:3 Man Utd New
Looked much more at home at CB albeit under these circumstances. Quality pass for the third. He has a role to play but we can’t rely on him in big games.

Nice pre-assist for Garnacho goal, took the pass very well

Again, proves he’s one our best offensive players. What a pass on Garnacho’s goal. Always ignored are these amazing passes and chances he creates, and getting in great positions to score. Such a shame he’s become so sloppy on the ball and a defensive liability.

I know we’re still angry with him but that was a beautiful pass. Perfect weight and vision.

You've got to admire his professionlism, alot of players that have won what he has would be whining like a little diva the way Ten Hag is using him, but not a flicker when been asked to come on at CB when we're out of options.

I hope Ten Hag plays him with Ugarte and gives him a chance to show what he still has to offer.

Nice cameo today. He should play next to Ugarte and Mainoo. Ideally Bruno would get dropped or moved to the wing, but the first option is definitely not happening.

Even though it’s never been his game he seems to be quite effective in forward areas. I wouldn’t mind seeing him deployed a bit further forward now with Ugarte coming into the team.

Would be interesting to see a Casemiro Ugarte duo against Barnsley.

One didn't start and the other needs some minutes with us so it could happen.

Was it me or did he look miffed when talking to Bruno when coming off the pitch, also not much reaction to Garnacho's goal but probably looking too much into it.

It's his only option as he's a liability in the defensive third.

He will be fine.

Shit game against Liverpool, but players have shit games all the time. Due to his position, unfortunately, it leads to a chance for the opposition.

As per usual, massive overreaction on here - which leads to a bunch of muppets scrutinising absolutely everything and trying to support their shite opinions with dumb isolated stats.

Man Utd 7:0 Barnsley New
Brilliant today. Him and Ugarte complimented each other very well.

Would have probably been sent off had he started the same way in the Premier League, but then quickly came into it. Good game. Could work well with Ugarte.

Went to ground a couple times in the first half unnecessarily I think, but very good after. Him and Ugarte might turn into our best midfield this season.

Can't help myself but I really don't like it, when he starts to roam around. It did work out today and he can contribute but a different opponent will have a field day using the space in behind. He was good today but I don't see the need to have him participate in the attacking so much.
