What Stadjer and Vault Dweller said. No desire to start/play, happy to just collect his paycheck in what is essentially semi retirement for him now.
I'm sure if he was the player-manager, he'd start more.

As things stand, his job is to stay fit, be available for selection and do his best when called upon. From what I can see, he's doing his job. Anything beyond that is something we should take up with the club or even the manager, before the player.

None of you lot criticizing him have ever been a situation where you're potentially leaving millions on the table.

We pay him a ridiculous amount. European teams will not even pay a third of his salary. Even Saudi will not pay similar wages he's on so why would he go there? I doubt his wife would want to live in Saudi either.

We're clearly stuck with him for next season so we may as well make use of him in his last year. He looked ok next to Ugarte under Ruud.

Absolutely it's on the club first.

Why wouldn’t he? He’s on a massive salary, playing for a top-tier club, and hardly faces any criticism from the fans. He’s got it easy.
The he's got it easy part cannot be understated.

He's been crap from day one but has hardly faced any criticism. Some deluded themselves into thinking he was good at first, but he wasn't. The only difference was Rashford being in incredible form for a few months which carried the rest of the underperforming squad. As soon as his form went out the window, what happened? We sunk to new lows because no one else was performing.

Its our choice to play him or not. We gave him an 18.2 million pound a year contract. He’s not obligated to move anywhere just because we would now like him to or because we think we made a mistake with the wages/contract length.

We will have him til the end of his contract now. If saudi wanted him theyd have had him by now. No other european club is coming close to 350k a week. I know everyone thinks he is going to move on in summer but i dont think it will materialise

Yeah can't see it happening either.

Playing a 4231 system he could be the "shield" in front of the defensive line. Not ever taking a step in the offensive part of the field. That part, I think, he still could thrive in with his experience. But since our manager love to make all our midfielders look like crap by playing them in a gung-ho system having them run up and down for ninety minutes he will look like crap every game he plays.

Wrong or right, it doesn't matter, but having that kind of money on the bench is so sad.

For him to be any use you need to give him a run out every now and then.

EL is going to make or break the season for the United accountants...you might need to rely on Casemiro to get United over the line in a semi or final.

Give him an hour here and there, preferably with Ugarte next to him.

While I am personally pissed off that he plans to sit out his contract and collect a cheque you just can't blame him, we gave him the contract, we made the mistake, not Casemiro.

And if I was him and Sir Jim Glazer held me up at the poster child for what's wrong with the club and the first thing I would fix, I would sit on my ass and feck up his plans too.

You would imagine that he'll get some interest in the summer and we will agree on a compensation package so he leaves on a free/minimal fee. Everyone "wins". There is no way he should forgo all that he's due to earn, no one in their right mind would. I just hope all parties agree to work something out.

I don't blame him at all if he sees out his contract.

One of the worst signings since SAF and so predictable that it would be a disaster.

Yeah, great shielding for Tottenham's goal.

The guy can't even move!!!! A statue dressed as a footballer.

So much money wasted on him and Shaw. Only hope is the people in charge learned some lessons.

Yeah - can’t argue with that. That extra year is what makes it all even more tragicomic.

As someone said, he played well beside Ugarte in Ruud's games in a 4231. I think he can do a job beside Ugarte and maybe Collyer, but beside anyone else (Bruno, Mainoo, Eriksen) his lack of legs will get exposed because they don't have the legs to cover for him either.

Amorim's very first match v Ipswich away, he picked Cas and Eriksen as the midfield and predictably enough they got the run around. Neither were used much for a number of weeks until Newcastle at home where, inexplicably, Amorim decided to give the pairing another go which, again predictably, ended in disaster and Zirkzee being the sacrificial lamb after 30 minutes.

Now I know you can say what good is a player if he can only play beside certain players and not others. But if he's staying another 18 months, we're paying him a shitload and we're decimated with injuries, Amorim needs to use him in a way that plays to his strengths not his weaknesses.

Casemiro is a good option if he has legs next to him. Eriksen doesn’t have any at all, it’s a stupid partnership.

Casemiro should play if he’s partnering Ugarte or Collyer.

Agreed on this. The few games Ruud was in charge, he played with Ugarte iirc, and he was fine. His worst games are always when he’s played with Eriksen or Bruno besides him.

Play him in the back 3, then

Happy to see him start today. This is the best midfield pairing (by a distance IMO) that we have had so far this season, and him and Ugarte playing close together was very good under Ruud.

Yeah you'd hope that Ugarte's energy and higher positional discipline than Bruno may cover some of Casemiro's flaws

While I agree this combo gives the team a bit more protection but there should be only one of them as a holding mid in front of back three, and two more attack minded central mids in front of Case/Ugarte. This is limiting the whole offence as they cant even take it in turns to joint attack as they both are covering sides emptyed by wing backs. Should be a classic 3-5-2, instead we have this 2holders/two narrow tens/plus struggling Hojlund up top on his own.

-------------------Keeper
----------Maz --De Ligt---Maguire
-----------------Casemiro
--------Fernandes-------Mainoo
Dalot ---------------------------------Dorgu
------------Hojlund--Garnacho

3:2 to United, Dalot and Mazraoui with the goals, Mykolenko OG.

Casemiro has been one of our best progressive passers and goal threats from midfield since he joined. For example, if we swapped Casemiro for Eriksen, I imagine it would appear a ‘positive’ change, but Casemiro is a much bigger offensive contributor I’d say.

Iv’e noticed this. He is also a really big aerial threat. Its a shame hes shot and his defensive game in piss poor.

I keep getting surprised at people who expect something from him (or are getting excited at seeing him in the line up). It's not the legs of his partners that's the issue, it's him. He simply can't play at this tempo anymore.

I don’t think he’s trying anymore.

He is done. Have some sense of pride Cas and go to Saudi or MLS as you are not good enough to play in the PL anymore.

It's just a cycle of people moaning he doesn't start, he starts, then people moan how finished he is.

We played better without him. He's been an utter disappointment for too long. A complete rip off when you look at transfer fee + wages. Disgusting really.

We know he is physically done, but he has shown no desire to adapt his game. He continously dithers on the ball, goes into reckless challenges. A player who genuinely wanted to be at this club would ask others to get tight around him, manage positioning better, and just be more smart about his play. You can't tell me is slower than a 36 year old Scholes?

We won’t be able to shift him, so he should be kept on the bench for a final 5mins if we need to dig in and protect a lead in our final third….. no more
