Brexited | the worst threads live the longest

Do you think there will be a Deal or No Deal?

May's only chance of redeeming her legacy is to succeed in making such a pigs ear of Brexit that it becomes toxic and any successor has little/no choice but to withdraw the invoking of Art. 50.

You're still fantasizing about the myth that they need us more than we need them. Yes, if we withheld payments while still within the EU they certainly could vote to either eject us or at least make life unbearably difficult by locking down customs borders triggering an economic collapse in the U.K. The fact you ever suggest it shows just how little grasp you have of the elements in play.

It's not that they don't understand, it's that they don't care. Typical of the 'I've got mine, now to pull the ladder up' mentality of the Brexit brigade. The collapse of the UK economy doesn't matter if you're retired, paid off your 2x salary mortgage already etc.

It's the next generation that they're gleefully sinking the knife into.

No and the weathers' been rubbish last few days

Terrific here - spent the past two weeks on the beach with the exception of last Thursday and even been swimming this afternoon.

Who cares about BREXIT anyway when we 're enjoying an Indian Summer.

But back to the Dark Continent again on Thursday, although also for a holiday this time, in Namibia, after the regulation couple of weeks in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Luanda.

Our nice weather is due to return tomorrow, two weeks of sun and warmth forecast so I'll be out on my bike (cycle) every day - enjoy Africa - I don't miss it.

Neither do I....

Although Luanda is actually quite good fun - plenty of hard partying Cubans and Brazilians in the bars at night, and crazy Kazaks who can't speak a word of English or Portuguese and so make the airspace around Angola feel like you're playing Russian Roulette, but make up for it with endless bottles of wodka....But it's almost certainly the most expensiveplace I've ever worked - a good pizza and a pint of Sagres sets us back about $ 85.

Nigeria, on the other hand....

Happiness is V1 at Lagos.....

The longer she can string this out the better it is for her.

Nah, she knows her legacy is shattered, she holds on in the hope something will come along to rescue her name.

For the Brexiters she's a human shield, they know Brexit will be shit, they will dump her once the deal is done and blame her for the outcome

This woman is going to force an exodus of EU labour and it won't be just the low-skilled ones. How is it so difficult to provide some reassurance after a year of 'thinking about it'. Gutless and clueless.

Yes, that's what I meant, for sure she's gone after the outcome is known but the longer it takes to come to an agreement, the longer she gets to stay in power, even if it's only a few months more.

I heard a snippet of her radio appearance - when she was asked , why can't you give an outright reassurance to all EU citizens that they can stay with or without a deal - she replies "I'm going to get a bit technical here" - Maybot speak for "they're pawns"

God we are so fecked

What an absolute car crash. She does her trademark facial expression too while stumbling, also known as "disaster face" as originated by that taxi driver on BBC News.

One can only hope that the PM is not so...fearful, or so inhibited behind the closed door of No 10. You'd like to say that such is symptomatic of her GE failure, however she's never been particularly instinctive or relaxed when interacting with the media.

What a crock. Are we supposed to have forgotten your heroes calling us bargaining chips and not giving a single feck about us for about the first 9 months after Brexit?

We could have made greater progress on the matter if not for the EU's greed, of both money and continued influence. FWIW, i'd like to see a unilateral declaration of some sort prior to Christmas, albeit in line with our position on the ECJ.

Oh yeah, let's have a formal alliance with Trump's America, what possible downside could there be to that?

A fitting generalisation on your part, i suppose.

Just read back over the first few pages of this thread again. It's weird how the complete and utter shock is sometimes followed by "...what next? Trump in the White House??"

What a crazy few months in retrospect.

Second government minister in so many days do you go on the media and refused to say whether or not they would back brexit if there was a vote tomorrow.

Or to put it another way 'we could have made great progress if the EU hadn't insisted on exactly the same rules as we knew they would before we voted out'.

If your master plan is to sell out to the Americans, with the inevitable lowering of product standards and private healthcare intrusions into the NHS that is likely to bring, then the U.K. really is fecked.

Not to mention the fact that we're currently arguing over the imposition of 300% tariffs...

But it's nice to see Nick post in this thread again I was beginning to think he'd run away with his tail between his legs.

I wasn't allowed to....

Another cock-up by Cameron as I'm sure that most ex-pats would have voted to REMAIN for obvious reasons....

I wouldn't be that sure. In Malta there were plenty of British immigrants who rooted for Brexit because they want their country back and would like to kick the undesirables out. When asked if they would like to be deported they replied that the Maltese government would never do that to them as that would be extremely cruel and we're all commonwealth (whatever that means).

I am slowly getting a little fed up of both the EU and British Politicians as are probably many who still dont know where they stand, as a Brit living in Germany I will at some point need to know what I have to do to continue living and working here, for me personally I do not want to take out German Nationality unless I really need to so it is slowly becoming the time when they start putting something on the table for expats and EU citizens in the UK.

Surely you can just file for permanent citizenship, if it's like in France you don't need the UK or the EU?

Surely it makes sense to get dual nationality if you can? I've always had a UK passport, despite living in Ireland since I was 2. It's never been a problem for me but I just got my first Irish passport in case travelling within the EU becomes a hassle, post--Brexit. That's just common sense really.

I could but dont want to plus I cant be bothered paying 255€ to it. There are pluses and minuses for doing this but depending how this all pans out either way I will probably end up jumping through hoops.

I'm sorry but if you don't want to be a citizen(by that I'm talking about residency only) and also don't want to be a national then what do you want to be?

If I knew whether or not after Brexit I could keep both I would consider it, at the moment you can due to the EU but once the UK is out what then, I would be peeved to have to choose one or the other.

A residency permit I have and have had since 1996 but this is related to the EU and in fact due to the EU you dont even need one anymore here, but what is when Brexit is finalized would I need a Visa or some other papers etc. thats the most annoying thing not knowing what is going to happen.

I'd be amazed if Brexit affects your rights re dual citizenship. As it stands you can hold a British passport and a passport from a whole load of non-Eu countries.
