he is poor because the team's structure is poor. Go and watch him under Bielsa and watch him now. He is used as some sort of destroyer. Give him to a manager that actually coaches properly;y and he will blossom, not this negative pos Mourinho. The fact that he was being compared to Kante last season says it all really.

I did watch him under Bielsa and if I'm being honest I didn't think he was all that great back then either. Our system has many flaws this season but you cannot blame that for Herrera playing as bad as he is.

Who cares huh? The Caf want their next toy in Griezmann.
The solution is always buying. Herrera was fantastic last season. We can talk about our players being shit and how we miss the incredible Fellaini all day. But getting the best out of good players consistently is key to being successful.

He was the hardest working player in a team whose greatest strength was hard work. This year (and in future years) we'll be aiming for a team that performs to high levels of footballing ability. Herrera can still contribute, but his particular brand of contribution won't be as pivotal as it was in 2016/17.

Yes, it's everyone's fault except Herrera. Herrera won POTY last season under the same manager who you say can't coach him properly.

Sell. Not good enough and could be replaced with a more complete player.

Had a feeling this was coming since the summer. Fwiw I think Mourinho actually rates him very highly and probably tried to tie him to a new deal at the end of last season.

I've always had the impression that Herrera greatly exaggerates his love for the club and would likely leave if one of the big Spanish clubs came calling.

It will be a shame if he goes. He's a very complete midfield player but unfortunately he's not really put all of the facets of his game together for a sustained period to reach his full potential here.

It's Nov and people are happy to sell our player of the season last year because he's had a rough start to the season. Nice!

Anyways, I'm sure better, more complete and best of all, players who never have a rough spell of form are waiting to sign for us and sit on the bench to play 2nd fiddle to Matic and Pogba whole giving their best whenever called upon.

How does anyone not love Ander? He's having a bad spell sure, but last season he was a beast.

I do really like him and it's nothing personal at all. But he has shown this season that he isn't at the level we need and if a good offer comes in we would be foolish not to take it.

Why, I mean based on what?

Anyway this is extraordinary. Poor few months and people want to rid of him. Even if he's not a 1st team material this season sometimes or in the future he's more than good enough to be called upon from the bench.
But no, he's trash, get rid.

Herrera has been the caf darling for a long long time, any criticism he get's is justified. He's been poor all season.
So has Mkhitaryan and Mata. If push came to shove on which midfielder I would keep out of the 3, Herrera would be first on my list but we could see all 3 gone or playing 2nd fiddle next season.

It is typical of caf to say all our players are crap...
If caf can have its way, Young, Mata, Fellaini, Miki, Herrera, Shaw, Lingard, Jones, Smalling, Blind all will be sold in January

But last season he showed he was at the level required, he was our best midfielder. After a bad 2 months you want rid?

He was good last season. But prior to that he was a bit hit and miss and this season he looks like he has gone backwards. I don't think it's urgent we get rid but at the same time if we get offered a lot of money we would be foolish to turn it down. Fellaini is more important to us now than Herrera, make of that what you will.

Mate, there are people on this forum who want Jose out, even though he is one of the best managers in the World. PSG want the best manager and players and Jose is at the top of their list.
Some people just don't understand football, so will want the POTY of last season, to be gone.

Herrera was fantastic for us last season and 2 average months don't make him a bad player.
IMO, he would be a great loss to us, if he left.

Yes he has been poor, but some of the comments on here are absolutely disgusting. What is wrong with some people? Just say he is not playing well. It doesn't have to get personal. Maybe I should get bedded in on another thread and get my insults in early, because once he is gone they will pick on someone else to pick to pieces.

I haven't spent much time reading the comments in here but if people are making those remarks then it's clearly out of line. In general I feel as if both Mata/Herrera have got away without criticism for a long time because both are nice guys off the pitch.

I agree, I'd happily move Mata on and use Mkhitaryan as a squad player next season. Mourinho seems to be aware of this since he tried to sign Griezmann and we've been linked with Ozil.

Funny how some players like Herrera have their better performances denied in revisionism, while players like Shaw are still talked about in terms of those 5-6 matches apparently where he was called world class by a set of fans..

At the very very least he's important as a squad player. Who would we have played the last few games with our injuries? Don't understand people wanting to sell our players for no reason.

I think the point is that we could replace his qualities without that much trouble.

Absolutely. It's unfortunate that he was thrust into the team without a great deal of competitive football, just as the now anointed saviour got injured.

Truthfully you look at the games he's been apart of and it's unfortunate that a couple of the hardest fixtures of the season, with him in a duo against a trio has screwed people's opinions.

He was absolutely fine for the first few games that included beating several teams by a healthy margin. Three or four bad performances when the odds were against him and as usual on here suddenly he needs to be replaced by a flavour of the month player like Fabinho.

What qualities of his do you feel will be difficult to replace?

His attitude, particularly in big games. He's a good all round player, not particularly special in any area, but if you've got a feisty away game against a rival you know he's going to leave it all on the pitch. I want players like that on the team.

Right, and I think we can find someone who can be disciplined with his pressing in games with specific instructions. I think that's what you are kind of describing? Controlled and disciplined passion on the pitch?

Why on earth would you want Herrera to leave?

He is a good midfielder that has shown a fantastic attitude and quality to adapt his game for the team.

Sure he's not the first name on the team sheet anymore, but he's a very Mourinho-esque player, he has great tactical understanding and application. Similar to some one like Park JS.
