Based on nothing at all - I think he starts in one of the attacking positions against City with two of Dalot/Maz/Malacia at wing back.

I watch every game and havent seen anything from him to justify this high rating he gets

No player in the world ever justifies the highest ratings they get, nor the lowest. Comparing him to someones rating you have in mind just confuses the debate, because everyone have different ideas of how this and that person rates him.
He had over 84% pass accuracy against Forest, up from his average over the season

Couldnt be more wrong
To be fair, I though he had a very weak game vs Forest, compared to his own standards. Nothing wrong with how many passes he found a team mate with, I just thought he made a lot of bad choices of when and were to pass, when to dribble, and particularily in the final third. He has the abilities to do much better than he did vs Forest, and has done so most games he’s played this season IMO.

Not that Dalot fared any better on the opposite WB.

Wasn’t his best game but even though he was our most dangerous player. I think Mazraoui has the ability to unleash players on his side so no surprise Amad struggled a little bit without him.

Feel like his decision making in the final third wasn’t that great against Forest.
Probably his worst game since RA took over, which says something because he still created multiple chances/got an assist and overall was one of our more dangerous looking players consistently still.

This is what I mean about players needing better "floors" for performances when talking about the issues in our squad and especially in attack. Amad in his worst game still played well enough that he contributed positively overall over 90 minutes. Too many of our attackers have rock bottom floors where if it's a "bad game from X player" it's a genuine 3/10 type performance where they can't do anything right and are a complete black hole over the course of a game. The more players we can get in that have higher floors for their general play the better, and it'll lead to more consistent team performances overall.

So its just 3 games so far which is the major factor, but I think he's being underrated even on here.

Whoscored has him as an 8.1 for his 3 games at RWB, he also got 4 assists in those 3 games

Saka is the highest rated player in the league at 7.89 over 14 games with Salah 2nd at 7.77 over 14 games

He's 7.3 at RW too.

Keep doing what hes already doing and he'll be a top top player.

Couldn't agree more. I really think he has the tools to be in the conversation with the likes of Saka and Salah.

It wasn't anybody's best game to be fair. He spent a lot of time waving and being ignored. He did start to show frustration. It was rainy, windy and cold. The last thing he wanted was to stand around waiting for something to happen. It's the fans who have to do that.....

He’s been underrated his entire time here.

Yeah you’re right and like you said he was frustrated cause ignored that’s why the team has to recognise that our strongest side nowadays is on the right with Amad and Maz so we need to stop the overload on the left. Too many underperformers there.

Amad is the complete opposite of Garnacho, way too nice.

It really is a mystery why ETH didnt play him much. In my eyes, his skillsets were special; and his potential was obvious the day he arrived (had me at hello) and played at the academy a few years ago.

Most likely because it made his Antony signing look even worse than it appeared. The first time I was ETH out was when he played Antony ahead of Amad in that EUROPA League game.

Amad is averaging a goal involvement every 110 minutes or so. He has a good shot of making it 25-30 goal involvements this season if he can stay fit.

Glad Amad is starting to get the recognition he deserves. As some have said he should have been brought through earlier.

I remember him against Milan when he scored the header which was nice but the thing that struck me was how well he moved with the ball and how comfortable he was with it.

You could see he was a fit for the modern game as he was always looking for short interchanging passes.

Real shame he didn’t get used more earlier as he could be even more progressed now but at least we now have a coach who can see the ability.

He will step up a level as the team improves as you can see some of his ball losses are little passes he plays that have misread the player runs around him. For the record you can see his idea and it’s generally the forward passes. When we have more players who are happy to take passes in tight spaces he will be even more of an asset.

Everytime in the future anyone wants to do the cliche "oh you think you know better than X manager?" I'm just going to refer them to a web page of Amad compared to Antony and not say another word.

So incredible how seemingly brilliant minds feck it up relatively often with regards to not selecting the best players available. ETH isn't the first and he won't be the last.

Viktoria Plzen 1:2 Man Utd New
I expect better from him (especially felt like in the first half he was invisible), but he always provides those flashes of brilliance. One of our better players in the night, but that's not saying much cause that was a sorry lot out there

He is simply our best attacking player at doing more than 1 thing. He can run the ball with pace and good control, change direction with ease and grace but he can also find a good pass to keep the ball or create a chance and thats why he has so many assists already. Most of our attackers are good at 1 thing, Amad can do several things well

He can do stupid things and still stand out as our best player.

No goals from open play without him nowadays.

Pretty much a must start player at this point regardless on it being as a wing back or a #10. Class either way.

Should've ended up with two assists when Mount should've scored. Very good second half. Linked up well with Mount.

He came alive a bit after the subs came on, before that we were really struggling to get him into the game.

Yeah he is really a standout with how good he is on the ball, so smooth and it seems the players are now seeking him out, which is a good thing.

Not his best game tonight but still our main threat. Can be played both as a WB and a 10. I dread to think where we would be without him.

Him and Mazraoui have the best close control in the squad and then it’s a massive drop off to the next player.

Very good in the second half. At this point I'm surprisingly disappointed when he fecks up counters (like he did in the first half by passing to Rashford or near the end) as I expect him to do everything right. With a little more experience he's going to be insane.

Mainoo as well. But yeah, it's those three and a huge chasm between them and the rest.

Edit: and Shaw. At this point he's been out for so long that I don't even remember about him when I'm assessing our squad

Wasteful today but was still at the center of everything good we did. One of the few players in this squad that I'm confident can make the jump if we want to return to an elite level.

On the one hand, I want him to stay as one of the 10s. On the other, I don't want to see Dalot and Malacia start together as then we have zero attacking threat out wide.

Amad and Mazraoui could create havoc down the right together but it seems like Maz is needed as our rcb for now.
