He reminded me of Scaloni in that vid, everyone it's in a state of Euphoria and he is absolutely focus on the match.

PD: Licha also gave Amad a sign with his head to fully go and continue his diagonal

The more I watch Amad's goal, the more I think it's world class. The pass from Ugarte, the assist by Martinez, the run, the precision of the bounce of the ball and to connect with it at that speed to put it in the goal. He left the entire City defence for dead.

Yeah he did scuff it but the technique was spot on. Gave him the best chance of scoring. Must have been so tempting to try and take a touch, or just put his laces through it.
Both for the penalty situation, when Ederson was way out of his goal, and for his goal when Ederson again was way out i kinda expected him to do just that, because that is often what you see. Because players often gets a bit overexcited when the chance comes. But Amad, thankfully, has great composure in these situations.

Thierry Henry explaining how hard is to control that ball from Licha once it bounced back is just crazy. I knew it was not easy, but there was a sequence where he actually took the eye off the ball and watched where the bounce of the ball would be. Henry said that this is the only way you would be able to control it. He was at full stretch, in the air, when he made the first contact. Just unreal.

Have people accepted that we're better off playing him as a 10 now then? Some were just accepting that, with the state of the squad, he could do a job there, but many actually thought that he should play as a RWB full time.

Agreed. Then spank 100m on Rodrygo and give him the 7 and let’s roll.

I wouldn’t be mad at that at all. Although Musiala is yet to sign that deal and expires in 26’, so in the words of Whitney Houston - ‘I’m saving all my love’, for now at least!

It's so strange to me that so many think the Amad we're seeing now is the player we signed. As if the years inbetween have done nothing to develop him.
I had the same feeling as I did when I first saw Greenwood play when I saw the Atalanta highlights when we signed him. You could just tell he had "it".

The development is crucial, but it turns out that the difficult Rangers loan and the good Sunderland loan seem to have hardened him for the PL. Happy days for us.

I was convinced already, but winning that penalty and scoring that ridiculous goal at the end confirmed to me the lad is solid gold haha.

Amorim said that he has to protect him from being put on a pedestal, like many players before, and that eventually gets in their heads. There is some humility in him, that is so refreshing to see, and long may it last.

Amorim is correct about that. But we could also do with adding some strong characters and leaders to the team to help keep young players grounded and in check. I think that's been the main issue for various players going off the boil at this club since Fergie and the senior players from 2013 left

Some people can picture things better than others some people just accept things as they are. Just because a piece of a puzzel fits somewhere doesn’t mean it’s meant to be there.

Thats what I’ve been saying since the start but I was just happy for the boy getting game time until I noticed attacks die when they reach certain people. You don’t want people that got kick and run in positions that need elegance and smoothness.

I hope we don’t go overboard with his wages in the renewal though. Let’s not repeat mistakes of the past.

Deserves the new contract. Should be fairly decent bump as well and probably an assurance of mid contract re negotiations if he keeps his performance up

I think it is really important that we don`t go overboard with the wages this time. We need to keep our heads cool going forward. With the way he has been making out with the badge and said his future is here i don`t think we will have much problems. Really don`t think he is here just to collect money.

Good news! Just a month ago or so, I worried Amad would leave soon to establish his career elsewhere.
Same. I thought he was a goner when Ten Hag was here. He didnt seem to like Amad regardless of how well he played. More fragile minded players would have given up or kicked up a fuss. He stayed humble and worked hard, everytime he was loaned out he tried his best. Such players always gain my respect easily.

This is actually his second full season as a pro.
Year one was a wash with the injuries at Rangers. Year 2 at Sunderland was his first full year. Last year was myriad with injuries and ETH, again a wash. This year is the 2nd year he's been healthy with significant game time.
All this is to say, with more game time, we could see further significant green shoots in his development.

He's already a pretty good decision maker, being a natural 10. However, if he can get to that Saka level of off the ball movement, tactical dribbling, shot selection, general decisiveness, passing and crossing, we'll have a bonifide superstar on our hands. I actually think he's way more explosive than Saka, a better sprint dribbler and possibly better technique too. A lot of his wins against defenders are based on those at the moment. Those and his relentlessness. He's also got that ability to pull off the unexpected. Some of those first touches to knock the ball past the defense, sudden change of direction to go inside or outside, amazing stuff.

There's still a lot of improvement to be made but the foundational blocks are there. Hope he carries on building!

Agreed, from what I read online and not sure how true it is but his current salary is £30k. I think a bump to £90k-£120k is fair considering the salary of the rest of the squad and his performances. Ideally more towards the lower end to keep him grounded but with consistent rises if he keeps up the performances.

The reality is he is our best player right now albeit with a relatively short period of time as a real first team player and his wages need to reflect that to some extent.

People put these "fair wages" need to realize that the ball is fully on his court. He could leave for free if he wants to, even if we decide to take that 1 year extention option.

yes and no, he wants to stay, established himself in the team. It's our job to convince him to sign a reasonable contract. Last thing we want is another mega deal and player turning crap soon as he signs it.

Good luck with that. Any good agent could easily get him 200k/wk.

We should have got his contract done 3-4 months ago. We have let it linger and now his agent can demand what they want as someone around the world would be prepared to offer him silly money

So same as basically every other contract negotiation. It’s his first big contract so he’s not going to demand nor expect Rashford money. I’m sure they’ll work something out. The main thing is always whether a player wants to stay or not and he seems happy at the club.

I'm quite happy with him in either role, although I do lean towards #10. He's the best we have in both of them at the moment, so which one he should play in depends on who we can play in the other and which combo is better for the team.

That goes for next season as well. If there's a really good #10 available that we can buy this summer but no suitable RWB, I'm happy for Amad to mostly play the wingback role next season with the new guy fitting in at #10. I would think the opposite would be more likely though, with us buying a RWB and Amad being used mostly at #10. Long term it's great that he's a strong option for both, although like I said I do think he'll end up in attack more often.

I agree with that money range. I think it's going to be around £105-115k per week.

He may or may not demand a big contract, but if I were his agent, I'd definitely ask a pot of gold.

I think the new regime have tried to make it clear they won't bow to that kind of demand anymore.

Besides, pretty sure we can extend his contract by one more year, which is probably why there hasn't been any panic about a renewal within the club

He wouldn't have signed it 3-4 months ago. Amad almost certainly would have left if ETH had continued as manager and continued barely playing him. Yes, this current run of games has likely allowed his agent to increase the demands, but it's probably also what Amad needed to convince him to stay.

Really, we should be giving him a contract with a decent but not huge base salary, with fairly large bonuses for certain achievements (goals scored/assisted, amount of games played, etc). That way if he continues being this good he'll make big money, but it stops him taking it for granted. If he does continue like this for another few years then his next contract can lock in the larger base salary.

Any of Wirtz/Musiala/Rodrygo takes us up a clear level regardless of other transfers. Those are the dream along with Kvara

I’m not in the Wirtz camp personally, and think there is a very real chance, unless he goes to the perfect environment, that he doesn’t succeed in the PL. Also, I think we need someone more explosive than him there anyway. Those roles are 10s/wingers I feel - a more classic 10 may blunt us a bit. I think it’s why Amorim doesn’t seem to fancy Bruno in that role.

Yeah. It's hard to tell and all speculation right now.

He may or may not demand a big contract, but if I were his agent, I'd definitely ask a pot of gold.
And then as club negotiator, I'd tell you, we'll use the extra year option and evaluate again in a year. So go tell your client, why he is not getting a raise for a whole year and is staying on 30k. Or we can agree to a reasonable deal.

Then I present him other options
a) 3 year contract for 80k (more than doubling his current salary, and we'll have to talk again in year, year and a half). Essentially, Amad gets more money as his performances deserve it and we get an extra year to evaluate. He also has to keep working hard.
b) 5 year contract for 100k. It's a largeish contract (maybe not for top PL clubs, but is for others). If he continues performing we'll talk about an improvement, but this still gives the club some options to sell him if he fails to perform.

While Diallo has performed well since Amorim arrived, it's just recent form. His stats for Sunderland were not spectacular (14 goals, 3 assists in 39 apps). Even this season it's only 2 goals and 6 assists in 14 apps. We are not talking about a wonderkid levels of production here (even though I believe Amad is ridiculously talented and if he can put all his tools together and keep improving, he can become a world class player).

The club has far more leverage than you believe.
