I wonder what his ceiling is as a player, aged, say, 27/28.
I'd say about 8ft.

He's on at 120k per week contract now, isn't he? Based in Manchester too...I'd say about 8ft.
ETH's judgement has to be seriously be questioned. He was 5th choice under him.
ETH saw the damage all the other managers had and wanted a legacy to surpass them. Marginalise, blow a billion and empty the cupboards for his successor. We would have felt the impact of his tenure for years to come. How do you get yourself sacked before trying a player THIS good. Between the pressing and close control he should be ETH's favourite player. I also backed his judgment about Amad blindly and it's clear we were almost led off a cliff.ETH's judgement has to be seriously be questioned. He was 5th choice under him.
Haha. But those stats don't tell us the large number of penalties we should have had in recent seasons but didn't get. Do you actually watch United matches? Not really. We've scored the most goals since the prem started so one would think we might have the most penalties. We haven't, but the difference isn't much.

I wonder if fans of every other club feel the same?Haha. But those stats don't tell us the large number of penalties we should have had in recent seasons but didn't get. Do you actually watch United matches?

I'm sure he'll have higher ceilings than that. 11ft at least
Seems a nice guy too, so he might let Licha borrow it for corners.Maybe if he gets a stepladder as a bonus he could reach 10ft.
10ft is a reasonably high ceiling.
Honestly, it's bizarre - there were these two United fans calling into TalkSport after the Southampton game (I know I shouldn't pay any attention to Talksport) and they were both saying they would sell Amad (one even trying to point out that scoring against Southampton wasn't that big a deal.)Weird argument to make after a game when he scored 3 goals.
That 30 years ago? Has nothing to do with current trend. Last 3/4 years we sit in the lowest half of table for penalty’s scored, never mind awarded. Ridiculous amount of pens denied that were clear. Not really. We've scored the most goals since the prem started so one would think we might have the most penalties. Exactly. Ole is the one that bought Amad. So no idea what you are referring to
It's since 30 years ago yes. You might be right, show us your stats. That 30 years ago? Has nothing to do with current trend. Last 3/4 years we sit in the lowest half of table for penalty’s scored, never mind awarded. Ridiculous amount of pens denied that were clear.
He was signed while Solksjaer was in charge, that's it. Jim Lawlor scouted him. What did Solksjaer do for Amads development? He played the heck out of the misfit Daniel James
Wish we'd sign Dibling. Him and Amad doing rotations at those right sided positions during the game would be fecking lethal between the two of them.
That price tag is so steep but I love the talent.Think he'll bring in Quenda.
24/25 currently sit 12It's since 30 years ago yes. You might be right, show us your stats.
Thanks. You can't look at that on its own though. One would expect a more attacking team to have more penalties. So for instance this year we may be 12th in terms of penalties but we are 15th for goals scored, so we might be about right or have got one more pen than expected. Of course the sample is too small to read that much into it but that's the gist.24/25 currently sit 12
23/24 6 position
22/23 13 position
21/22 14 position
There's a big argument to say Amad was no where near ready for first team action when he came to the club, so yes Dan James would have been head and shoulders above him at the time, so no real surprise he got played ahead of Amad....He was signed while Solksjaer was in charge, that's it. He might not have been as good if he was rushed in to the team.He was signed while Solksjaer was in charge, that's it. Jim Lawlor scouted him. What did Solksjaer do for Amads development? He played the heck out of the misfit Daniel James
There is an argument to be made, you're right, but Dan James was nowhere near ready either and it was abundantly clear who the bigger talent was right from the off. Either way, 22-23 is about the time you'd expect a player to start putting all the pieces together so I only would have expected him to be a first XI player this season or maybe last season anyway in terms of linear development. We just pawned parts of his development off and it seems to have worked out well for us. I think his treatment last season and the signing of Antony have been the only major cock ups in his development here so far. There's a big argument to say Amad was no where near ready for first team action when he came to the club, so yes Dan James would have been head and shoulders above him at the time, so no real surprise he got played ahead of Amad....
He needs to be in the forward line press, as close to the box as possible. Those goals we see from his pressing are down to him playing as a 10. Having to do wing back defensive work is a hindrance to his game.Maybe having him play as a WB is not so bad as he seems to be able to do well there. IMO signing a 10 will be much easier than finding a WB who can defend and attack as well as Amad does. That type of player is not easy to find, while talented 10s are fairly common.
I normally don't care too much about the ex player thing, but it felt like a privilege to have him at the club and I'd be delighted if he scores against the mags.
Amad would have a quiet game then pop up with a absolute wonder goal! Best player I've ever seen in a Sunderland shirt! We all knew he would one day become a world class player. Well done Amad!
Amad Diallo plays for United but made in Sunderland
I love seeing him do well….them first two goals are outrageous in terms of his adjustments and finishes.
The club need to take a bit credit in helping get to this stage in his career, and I’m sure Amad and Man Utd recognise that.
You could tell after about 87 seconds of him playing for us that we needed to enjoy him and while we had him as he was a special player.
Yeh I have a Sunderland supporting mate and he was telling me this in the summer. Saying he’s unreal. They love him a lot on the Sunderland forum, one person saying the best player to play in a Sunderland shirt.

Was decent but I think he made a lot of poor choices in the attacking third. Was excellent defensively though.Best United player on the pitch tonight again. Created that first goal with yet another final third interception, was generally threatening on the ball and helped out a lot defensively.
Yeah, I've consciously abstained from saying that he was great, he wasn't. By his own standards (the newly set ones) he was below average — which, sadly, was still enough for him to be our standout performer tonight. Was decent but I think he made a lot of poor choices in the attacking third. Was excellent defensively though.
Yeah, pretty much. And even when he doesn’t deliver up front, he contributes with good back tracking.Decent but he can't do it all on his own
