He usually finishes his chances so no issue with him. Sometimes its not your day

There's a part in Roy Keane's first book where he recalls something that happened in training.

Schmeichel for some reason was playing outfield and missed a chance, some half volley iirc. He offered up some excuse saying it was a difficult chance to convert, to which Eric Cantona said, "For you, maybe."

Well, if he was the Kings level, sure, he’s a young player so I’m not going to hold it against him.

It is not just his missed chances, I felt he was not as dangerous as he usually is and didn't connect well with his team mates either

Much better from him, but has to score one of those chances today if he expects to start.

He was brilliant first half. That would have been some goal and people are doing that chance a huge disservice saying it was a simple finish! It was an incredibly difficult chance that he almost took brilliantly. Sometimes football is about small margins and they just didn’t land for us today.

Bang on. Should have taken his 1st chance on his left peg though.

Thought he was really good first half. I think he's got some way to go to develop but out of who we have, he is the most effective outwide. He'll make mistakes, his judgement is still improving. But regardless as who is on the pitch, if we're looking to attack down the flank then this guy needs to be the main guy we look to.

Because we were playing Dalot in middle and never really started our attack from left side.

I’m getting really wound up by how many people keep giving the impression we missed a load of really easy chances. Palace missed easier chances than anything we created. The left foot chance for Garnacho was far from easy and we won’t win anything so long as he gets shit for missing that chance and the one that hits the woodwork. All attacking players miss chances. The ones that play for good teams will get more chances to redeem themselves than Garnacho did yesterday.

I don't think they were easy chances per se, but they were definitely good chances and I counted at least 5 that I would consider that.
I also think the leniency Garnacho gets won't necessarily have been afforded to Rashford.
I have no issues with Garnacho, I think he's developed brilliantly for his age.

That Bruno travela shot for instance, looks harder that it was because of the type of shot he went with.

The De ligt header was a great chances. Zirkzee also put one wide.

On another day, one of these goes in and we get a comfortable win.

I would rate all three of Palace’s chances as better than any of ours. Or certainly at least as good. So if you’re going to use hypotheticals about missed chances going in there’s still no guarantee of a different result.

Man Utd 1:1 FC Twente
Quite surprised no one has commented on his almost 30 minute performance against Twente. Perhaps it exemplifies how a non entity he was in terms of impact.

Unfortunately for Garnacho, Twente scored as soon as the game was resumed after he was subbed on. That goal gave the visitors momentum and our attack didn't really come alive again despite the late and fruitless surge on thier goal.

Garnacho had a late long range shot, a cut back to no one and another pass across goal in a good area that again didn't find a teammate. He didn't play with his usual panache and didn't really take on his markers.

He was meh, had a lot of energy but Rashford seemed to have more success with that fullback than he did. Had a few decent combinations I guess but he's also not really a clean combination-type player so against packed boxes you'd probably just rather see him abuse the byline and cut it back into the box.

Man Utd 0:3 Tottenham
Only outfield player who can hold his head high

I thought he was terrible. Constantly made the wrong decisions.

But there's only so much a young winger like him can do without the support of an overlapping full back.

I thought he was bad. Picked the wrong option almost every time. The 'highlight' was the moment he made two amateur level mistakes in about 10 seconds. Misscontroled the ball and then hit the ball out of play.

Both takes are true. He was poor but at the same time he was our best outfield player, which really is a testament to how awful we were tonight.

i thought he at least tried hard today but was a lone battler upfront supported by trash play

It sums up the issue with our team, the players bottom level is absolutely atrocious. The sort of errors we make in easy possession would make you chuckle if you seen them at Sunday league level.

Thought he was rubbish up to the 70th min then sort of got going a bit.
NWasn't
interested in playing football. As in the actual game. Just wanted to get on the end of a through ball.

Not surprised though.

Came out with his baby, off to give the Mrs a kiss just before KO. It's just not the right mentality. You need to be in game mode.

Come on now.

He wasnt great but still better than others who didnt come with their kid or kissed their WAG’s. Lets not get personal here

He makes the wrong decision 90% of the time and his technical level isn't high, we bigged him up way too early.

He needs to bulk up a bit, he tends to lose a ton of 50-50s. It would be great if we could get fullbacks to overlap him rather than have the opposition to double up on him. Obviously for some reason ten Hag doesn’t like his fullbacks to get wide and overlap.

Amad, Garnacho and Rashford all lose their 50-50. Our FB are busy playing as CM and our wingers get no support whatsoever. They are easy to defend against

I didn't see him as better than anyone else.

I don't think its personal either to say this isn't how a top level sportsman should be going into a game. He's young so I'm more frustrated at the club. It should have been a no, you're working, you should be in fight mode.

It's sad that we're relying on this kid to carry our goal threat for most of the season. He's really talented but these type of performances today are what we'll see a lot of.

He was out most dangerous player and the only one to play to some sort of standard by going at his man and trying to make something happen. Was better on the left.

As expected he's going to be inconsistent, I do feel people need to keep their expectations in check after the Ronaldo comparisons.

What I love about this guy is that his head never drops. He can be having a terrible game where absolutely nothing is coming off, but he keeeps going and going.

Sometimes that merely results in a really bad performance but he can pull something out of the bag at any minute, regardless of what's gone before. That mentality is super important and it gives me hope that he'll become more than just a very good player.

This. We expect too much of our younger players such as Mainoo and Höjlund.

I expect to see games like today from a young lad playing the role he plays. He’s not supposed to be the finished article yet.

The depressing thing is that he was still by a distance our best outfield player and unless we get our act together quickly, by the time he is the finished article it will be at another club.

His mentality is the only thing that truly stands out for me about him. Admire his persistence and intensity irrespective of how he, or the team as a whole, are playing. Technically and physically he's quite average.

He is not that good and ceiling not that impressive. Physically he has got alot to improve on, hence why he is not a starter

He seems to be very similar to Rashford in that his main strength is knocking the ball long and letting him running after it. His dribbling is non-existent and his decision making is really poor.

I admire his work rate, even when he's having a complete shocker, but I just think it's a case, that is quite familiar with this club post SAF, that we give in to youth products way too soon.
Whether that's in bigger, longer contracts or not being sensible with their game time.

The clubs lacks patience and confidence in this regard.

So I wasn't the only one annoyed by that. Kind of shows you the kind of mentality our players have. The fact this was allowed shows you the kind of grip the manager has on the team.

I sort of agree, but at the same time it's not really a big deal as long as you don't get a different picture about him. A player like that can still be very useful and effective in a good team, you just don't build a side or plan a future around him.

I do think his goal scoring instincts have improved, and he's more comfortable on his weaker foot which have been nice developments to see.

FC Porto 3:3 Man Utd
Does not give a fack about creating does he? just wants to cut in and shoot. I would hate to play with him if I was a striker because id know he has no interest in setting me up.
