Very frustrating yesterday, I feel some time on the bench would be the right thing now.
That was Ronaldo though...Ronaldo at that age, it genuinely was just the inconsistency that comes with youth.
There is some of that with Garnacho as well but to me it seems most of his poor decision making is down to ego.
He badly needs reigning in. To be fair his teammates have been saying for the last two years he needs to keep his feet on the ground.
Yep - it’s super simple. We don’t have the senior leadership in the team needed - Case is the only one who showed any kind if character. Think of young Ronaldo at United (ignoring the difference in ability), the same kind of selfish attitude, willingness to take players on and disinterest in defending.Feels like he’s getting abit too big for his shoes. Selfish, throwing a strop etc.
Good that Case absolutely went nuts with him for not doing his job defensively.
Yeah I think it's obvious that Rashford is better coming in from the LW and Garnacho on the right.I thought we looked better against Chelsea with Rashford on the left, at least attacking-wise. Might be worth benching Garnacho and trying the Rashford-Amad combo in the next game. Garnacho coming on in the second half with something to prove could be a useful weapon
There’s a few factors to consider even if we ignore the great Ronaldo eventually became.Ronaldo at that age, it genuinely was just the inconsistency that comes with youth.

I sometimes feel like I’m watching a different game. The way he played yesterday reinforces my belief that he’s got the talent to be a genuinely exceptional player. He’s got the ability and the attitude. Get the decision making right and you’ve got an unbelievable player.
Clear example of poor man management and when you look at how Garnacho has progressed it's no wonder Antony plays like a man child. A stronger manager, who recognizes that the short term benefits of individual moments pale in comparison with those of creating an intelligent, unselfish team player, wouldn't tolerate the shit Rashford, Garnacho and Antony dish out week in week out at crucial moments in games. This is primarily why he is now jobless with his reputation in the gutter.People always say young players need time and they’ll learn and get better but when do you say enough is enough when they don’t?
He’s still the exactly same selfish player he was in the academy with a massive ego. One of his last performances against Blackburn u18s was diabolical just how damn selfish he was, attempted 3 passes in over an hour. There seems to be no accountability for it though, hopefully Casemiro keeps yelling at him as the club seem to be feeding into his ego and pampering it rather than ever teaching him a lesson.
Dangerous means he was by far our most effective output yesterday, that's not even up for debate.Love when “dangerous” is just used to describe “he got the ball a feck load today but didn’t do anything”
He lacks any sort of technical floor to be relied upon and his decision making is too poor to make up for it
He'll learn though. I think sometimes we forget just how young he is. Post early about reminiscing when he was a 20 year old with promise - he only just turned 20 a couple of weeks before this season.
These are mistakes he'll iron out. You can't have 18-22 year old in the first team unless you're prepared for them to make mistakes. Every mistake is an investment. If he's still making the same mistakes in a couple of years then it's an issue. Right now? He's developing and learning. This season so far he's better than 1 in 3.
I'm optimistic about the player he'll be in a couple of years

Wasn't his best game by any stretch but was constantly making good runs, turning the Chelsea defence and threatening in attacking positions.
It’s the classic cycle of young wingers. They come in and seem to have a higher football IQ because they’re not as confident and therefore pass the ball a lot more. Then the hype builds and the belief builds so they start running down blind alleys and taking stupid shots. This lasts a good while until either it clicks or it doesn’t. He’s now in the give him time phase of being a 20 year old talented winger who needs to find the balance between team and solo play.
He’s about to find himself under his second manager so let’s see how he fairs there before throwing the toys out the pram.
It’s getting worse every year. There is a pattern with all the young players that come through - Greenwood, Garnacho, Rashford. They become more selfish as they become part of the first team. There is something massively wrong at the club especially in the first team that encourages individual glory and horrible decision making.
The Ronaldo comparison is such a lazy comparison. They were wingers yes that's about it I think. There’s a few factors to consider even if we ignore the great Ronaldo eventually became.
- Ronaldo’s basics were always strong. His touch and quality with ball at feet despite issues with decision making, was great. Garnacho is quite erratic in this regard - he doesn’t scream elite or even top natural talent at all. He’s dogged, direct and impact ful but when he’s bad he’s reall bad (like Rashford)
- Ronaldo’s incredible drive and mentality would have been obviously to those around him at the club.
- We had a much better team then a hence Ronaldo’s off days weren’t that big an issue. Now we have a poor team that can’t handle multiple players struggling.
If you want lower expectations you probably shouldn't be at United. He had a stinker yesterday, but the expectation on him is ridiculous, he is just a kid and has at least 2 more seasons before you could start to criticise his performances. I think he is trying too hard, and overthinking it at the moment. He needs to be rotated, so he has the chance to run at tired legs, and get back to scoring and building his confidence back up. He is being overplayed at the moment. And the strapping on his leg indicates that he is carrying an injury.
Amad needs to be played much more, to keep the freshness going in the forward line.
On that front Casemiro may be a contender for skipperThat was an absolute stinker. Got a huge bollocking off Casemiro too
Not seen a 90 minutes that poor from a player in a long time
Not really, he had the most shots, most shots on target in the team, we predominantly attacked down the left hand side which he spent most of the game based on his average position, so yeah I was definitely watching the right game.He was absolutely dogshit yesterday. Our worst player until Zirkzee came on. I honestly don't know what game some people are watching. He throws a few shapes, makes a few dead ends runs down blind alleyways and loses possession, and it's enough to fool some fans into thinking it's "dangerous" and "effective". It's not. It's shit.
This gives me ChatGPT vibesAlejandro Garnacho is definitely one of the most exciting young talents on the rise right now. At just 19, he’s already shown flashes of brilliance on the pitch, and it’s clear why many fans are hyped about him. His speed, confidence, and flair make him a real threat to defenders, and he’s had several strong performances where he’s been instrumental in breaking down defenses. He’s also shown up in big moments with some clutch goals and assists, which is impressive for a player so early in his career.
However, like many young players, Garnacho can be a bit inconsistent, and at times, his decision-making on the field can be questionable. Sometimes he’s a bit too eager to take on defenders when a pass might be the smarter option, or he’ll try something risky that doesn’t quite pay off. But honestly, that’s all part of the learning process. He’s got the raw talent, and with a bit more experience, he’ll likely become more mature in his choices.
In the meantime, it’s exciting to watch him develop, even if there are a few frustrating moments along the way. He’s got massive potential, and if he can fine-tune his game, he could become a standout player in the coming years.
