We need Collyer's endevour this evening. Next stage will be for him to start breaking the lines. He played one or two good balls wide. You can see he has it. However, he just needs to believe.

Miles better than Mainoo, should get more games going forward. Good defending, good passing, and shows for the ball.
Christ mate. I don’t disagree that we need to play him more, but it’s very different coming on at the end of games against tired players.

Plays very safe, not sure the ball went forward, which is fine next to Eriksen. Won’t be so much with any of our other midfielders. That said, he’s got legs which instantly gives him a big opportunity in this team.

I like what I’ve seen of him. I’d start him with Ugarte vs Brighton. His athleticism is a huge bonus in the midfield 2.

Not sure he is better than ugarte but he is steady.
Which is good.
Gets it, passes it, breaks up attacks.
Promising .

Doesn;t even say how many of each he did.

Two brilliant cameos now, looks to have a great engine on him and is tidy on the ball.

At the moment I'm seeing a decent neat, tidy and competitive player but whether he'll be anything more than that down the line is anyone's guess.

Id like to see him start alongside Ugarte v Brighton who are a team who can play through us
We Need to have a steely midfield and Mainoo isnt consistent atm.
He deserves to start.

It’s 2/2 tackles and 20/21 passes. Can’t believe someone called “statman” doesn’t give you the denominator when telling you a percentage, especially when the sample size is so small. To put it into context, Ugarte who was moving around like a zombie today had 4 tackles, 3 of which successful (75%), in about the same amount of play time.

Either way, lad did really well. Stats and eye test confirm.

He basically came in and did all the things you expect of a standard midfielder. Nothing more, nothing less but it was such an improvement on some of the stuff we've seen from the other CMs apart from Ugarte. He didn't do anything eye opening but by being in the right place, tracking runs and not making mistakes in possession, he helped things tick on.

In games to come, more will be expected of him on the ball but he's shown he can at least take some of Casemiro's minutes.

No frills but he gives us some much needed physicality in central midfield.
Feels like a massively apt comparison to Darren Fletcher, no frills but athletic and physical, can slot in and do a job, and quite frankly everybody needs that kind of player in their team even if they don't start every match. Hopefully he continues to improve, should get ahead of Eriksen and Casemiro regardless.

He didn't exactly do anything generational, but in a system sometimes you just need someone who's gonna help keep that system running smoothly rather playing stupid passes or being out of position which breaks the whole thing.

I didn't see anything spectacular, but I didn't see him do anything wrong either. That's how Nicky Butt played and it was good enough 400+ Premier League games and England.

That was a really good performance. One of the subs that helped changed the game in our favor. Still not convinced on his overall quality but he needs to start for now as he is the best from all the available options.

Just thought a slight alteration might be in order. Even if his game is limited it's off the ball that we really need him and he would be handy against Brighton and also enable us to play Eriksen ahead alongside Bruno. Problem is we'd be a little one paced upfront with Zirkzee but a front five of Zirkzee, Bruno, Eriksen, Collyer and Ugarte will give us a foothold in the match.

Not a fan of these tweets. 100% tackles won could mean he put in 1 tackle in a non-dangerous area that meant nothing or 5 crucial tackles to help win the game. No context to the tweet, which makes the 100% tackle rate a bit useless.

I remember one of these about Maguire, 100% tackles won in a game where he was maybe booked and gave away at least one freekick. They are mostly bollocks.

Collyer was good last night, he looks a tidy player who can do all the basics on the ball well, plus he can run which is more than can be said for Eriksen and Casemiro. Definitely needed his legs in midfield last night.

His instinct is to play the ball backwards, rather than forwards. Plays very safely, low risk football, needs to believe more and have the confidence to make more incisive passes. He’s tidy enough in possession though.

Exactly the type of player our squad needs.

Seems to have a good mentality, engine and a bit of grit about him too.

Very happy to ship Case and Eriksen out to give him more minutes

He did play one really nice through ball to Amad so he can be more incisive, can hardly blame him for being a tad conservative though when just breaking in. A steady Eddie is welcome in our midfiled mix currently IMO.

Stats without context are usually useless. Eyetest is far more reliable.

Well yeah, he's a United-fan dopamine dealer, isn't he. Nice little hit of good vibes after a win. Look elsewhere for statistical analysis.

Been very neat, tidy and composed in his couple of cameos. Definitely would like to see what he looks like starting.

Hard to say at the moment if he's got enough for the very very top but he's done really well.

Start him Sunday. Get him a strong 45 minutes+ and get Ugarte/Kobbie some rest.

Honestly, I reckon it’s more likely to be a combo of Mainoo and maybe one of the more experienced players. I reckon Amorim may rest Ugarte for the first half considering I think he mentioned how tired Ugarte was even at the start of the game. Probably doesn’t want to overdo him and may look after him.

I also don’t know if Amorim would play the young combo of Mainoo and Collyer in the middle but I could be wrong. Haven’t fully understood the way Amorim does things yet so not sure what he’ll do.

Is it his instinct or is he doing what he’s been instructed to do? It wouldn’t be unusual for a very green and very young midfielder coming in to a high intensity game to be instructed to keep it simple and do the basics well and help the team keep possession.

That's what he's supposed to do.
