Sooooo.... Star Trek Next Generation is on Netflix here now. I loved it when I was a kid, so I googled the best episodes and watched a few. A sucker for Borg episodes, so I'm watching Descent Part 2 and.......... it's Trump. A character has just described Trump in about 60 seconds here a moment ago. And, by extension, probably what Trump is going to do next when everyone starts to realise he hasn't a clue what he's doing.

This is not surprising because his Healthcare Advisor Katy Talento doesn't understand how contraception works. She claims female contraception "aborts" foetuses after conception, she also claims that female contraception makes women sterile. She is absolutely batshit, but like the video above shows, obviously understanding of the position isn't compulsory under The Moron's rule. Fair enough really as he hasn't a fecking clue yet he is about to become President. Mind you, we in the UK shouldn't gloat, we had Michael Gove as Education Secretary, a man who clearly didn't have one himself so certainly wasn't qualified to comment on how others received theirs.
 
I saw Al Franken on an old dvd of 3rd Rock from the Sun the other day; he was rubbish in that too.

Trump may not be an intellectual like Obama but he is a cunning knut.

The three factions within his administration will only allow him to be like the emperor managing his court -- and all the mandarins seeking his approval whilst he sits on his throne. It's an ego-stroking structured set-up.

Great for Trump as his penis gets stroked daily but not good for America as there will be a lack of cohesion in their strategy/approach. The world will be on knife's edge as every word he tweets will be read as insight into which faction he will lean towards that specific hour/day.

Get ready for a bumpy ride!!
 
Hannity has the names of all the Rep's not attending on Friday flashing on the bottom of the screen.....Fox are praying for trouble on Friday.

I've just watched the full Al Franken can DeVos questioning. He absolutely ruins her. You can see various other members of the senate laughing at how brutal the humiliation is.

Elizabeth Warren, Bernie and a few more also gave her a grilling. She really looked like a deer in the headlights for most of the time. Saying that you can't introduce a blanket ban on guns in schools because of Grizzly bears is one of the craziest things I've heard. I know she was talking about one particular school, but it just sounded mental.

One thing I've noticed about Trump and his cronies is that their standard form of defense is bare faced lies. Rex Tillerson straight up lied about all his dealings with Exxon and Russia, Trump constantly outright lies about basically everything, DeVos straight up lies about her family's funding of anti-LGBT agendas and (in my opinion) lied about her actual views of LGBT rights and general equality.

I think their basic plan is to say everything that anyone wants to hear because once they get into power, they can act on what they actually believe and it's a hell of a lot harder to stop them. Especially when Trump has continued to surround himself with more and more yes men.

It's actually a whole new paradigm to deal with. We're well used to politicians trying to evade a question and needing a Jeremy Paxman style grilling to get anywhere near the truth. When you've got people who flat out bullshit at the drop of a hat it gets overwhelming very quickly. The politician has moved on to the next topic, while everyone who was watching is still scrabbling around checking facts. It's despicable, obviously, but does seem to be a very effective tactic. Especially when it comes to convincing an electorate that loves grand gestures, sweeping statements and celebrity but doesn't have the patience for experts and facts.

I think everything he is doing, everything he has done and everything he will do, is designed to distract peoples' attention away from the fact he is going to be looting the country blind. He is going to milk the position for everything he can for his term, do as much insider trading as possible and extract as many bribes as he can, all the while doing everything he can to divert peoples' attention onto other matters. Whether that is infantile Tweets, massively controversial / offensive statements that trigger massive media debates about things that, while being important in terms of good taste and decency, are completely besides the point in terms of the actual policies he is pursuing. And obviously the old historical favourite, a big, military show of strength, will play a part in that too.

And the really depressing thing is it will probably work. The media's attention will be diverted by that kind of shit, they wont ask serious questions or press him on the shit he's doing, if they can get more entertaining coverage on the superficial stuff he will give them in abundance. Id like to think he is going to be exposed in his corruption and impeached long before the end of his term, but I dont think it will happen.
 
I wonder how much the likes of Tillerson and DeVos or Price paid Drumpf for those cabinet posts.

The opposition would do well to keep a really close eye on his businesses as well as expenses.

Have faith. This can only last so long, the USA can only stand to be humiliated so much, i'm actually surprised it has got this far. You are also overlooking the fact that this is a GLOBAL problem. He's already pissed off Mexico, Canada, China and the UK and most of the EU including most recently, Germany. He simply will not be allowed to get away with this under such an intense microscope, he's also not that clever to do it for so long either. People are already getting sick of him and just look at his numbers, they are dropping like the proverbial stone, his supporters are leaving him in droves. As I predicted not long ago, soon he will just be left with the diehards, the loonies and right wing nut jobs and the desperate and deluded. He is making himself so many more problems and it will soon be toxic to be seen to be a supporter of him. Have faith, because if not, then we might as well all give up and call it a day. The day ignorant morons like this guy can get away with all his tricks is the day the world finally throws its collective arms up in the air and shrugs its shoulders. I am convinced he will fall, it's just a question of when, not if.

He's surrounding himself with people as corrupt as he is to give him cover to do what he wants to do without them holding him to account. Look at Tom Price, his health secretary pick, who has been caught insider trading. Every single one of them is going to be at it.

But what can Mexico, Canada, China, the UK or Germany do about it? None of us have any influence at all. Russia is the only one that seems to, for all the wrong reasons, and it is in their interests to keep the whole thing going for as long as possible.

Also I dont know if his supporters are leaving him in droves or not. But even if they are, its too late.

Anyway, I sincerely hope you are right.

He got elected, that is enough for me to question everything about the future of this country. If the United States don't reign in the Republican Party soon and show them up for what they are this country will swiftly become the most dangerous enemy of western democracy. Putin is calculated but with every country united Russia could be crushed overnight. Right wing conservatives on the other hand are low informed, stuck on a racist notion of how this country should be directed and just downright hateful. They really want to destroy everything,even their own families well being

Who is going to do it? The Democrats are weaklings, the media are docile. People are disdainful but basically apathetic, and have little interest engaging beyond giving power a good kicking whenever they can be arsed to go to the polls. The power is with the corporations and if Trump's agenda is deregulation and tax breaks they arent going to stand in his way.

As always this country must continue relying on late night presenters and comedians to call out their bullshit and hypocrisy, and in some cases predict the future.

Remember that it was Bill Maher who said Trump has a good chance and will win if he don't get our shit together. All the political talking heads laughed and pandered to the false equivalency of the candidates. I do believe that in a country of reality tv star feckers daily commentary from John Stewart and Stephen Colbert in their previous capacities on Comedy Channel may of made a difference.
