The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

Who is going to do it? The Democrats are weaklings, the media are docile. People are disdainful but basically apathetic, and have little interest engaging beyond giving power a good kicking whenever they can be arsed to go to the polls. The power is with the corporations and if Trump's agenda is deregulation and tax breaks they arent going to stand in his way.
I feel exactly the same way, agree with everything you are saying. I remain hopeful but let's be honest, the ship feels like it has sailed.

As always this country must continue relying on late night presenters and comedians to call out their bullshit and hypocrisy, and in some cases predict the future.

Remember that it was Bill Maher who said Trump has a good chance and will win if he don't get our shit together. All the political talking heads laughed and pandered to the false equivalency of the candidates. I do believe that in a country of reality tv star feckers daily commentary from John Stewart and Stephen Colbert in their previous capacities on Comedy Channel may of made a difference.
Oh no doubt the satirists will have a field day (though was it in here I read a piece by one saying its no fun anymore as all the jokes are so obvious?) but again, what does it achieve? We will get the pleasure of watching Trump getting wound up by it because he is so thin skinned but Trevor Noah is not going to get Trump removed. Its just the urban, middle class talking to themselves, just as they have been throughout the whole cycle. And just like, here in the UK, they did throughout the Brexit debate.

Moron-in-Chief.

Good to see Trump's avoiding any easy comparisons to certain regimes.

Without wanting to join the alarmists on here, this is probably what worries me most about Trump - he seems completely in awe of power (of the military type) and doesn't seem to have any concept that being a 'strong' leader is about a lot more than throwing your military weight around. I think this is the key to his admiration for Putin, but Trump has misread Vladimir - Putin is a far shrewder operator than Trump is able to comprehend, he is someone who is able to understand when to use force, but more importantly when not to. And he understands the intrigues of alliance-building and soft power, whereas for Trump everything seems to be a zero-sum business deal.

But we'll see.

Putin is playing chess, Trump is playing tiddlywinks.

He's surrounding himself with people as corrupt as he is to give him cover to do what he wants to do without them holding him to account. Look at Tom Price, his health secretary pick, who has been caught insider trading. Every single one of them is going to be at it.

Bear in mind you're talking about a country where insider trading by member of congress wasn't even against the rules until 2012. Even after they passed a law banning it, they still prevented investigations taking place.

I'm assuming this is just more Trumpian bullshit but we're in for one hell of a car crash, if not. Almost tempted to watch for the schadenfreude. Almost.

He's gonna think he can wing it, the idiot.

How that sort of behaviour doesnt make peoples skin crawl is beyond me.

It kind of says something about the whole campaign when it was a week or so ago I suddenly recalled him saying to that young girl he'd date her in 10 years. Not to mention the whole walking in on kids in beauty pageant things. And the time he'd date Ivanka if she wasn't his daughter...and that one of the things they have in common is sex. Christ, what an utter predator of a man.

And every time JFK found himself alone with a young, attractive woman shoving her up against a wall and sticking his hand up her skirt? That was okay? Or LBJ draping his arm across her shoulders and grabbing her breast?

No. It's all abhorrent. JFK's affairs are well-known about (although I've never heard of definitive abuse allegations), and LBJ was well-known for being a weirdo and whipping out his dick. Bill Clinton was likely abhorrent with women as well, and the fact it was his wife campaigning against Trump probably didn't help Hilary's cause at all. None of what previous shady Presidents have done excuses Trump at all. I'm not sure what you're trying to say here?

EMAIL. BILL. BENGAHZI.

Am I doing it right?

Textbook whataboutism.

Next up - some Woodrow Wilson quotes to defend Trump's views on race.

Welcome back will! Has the timer gone off on your phone to let you know enough time has expired to jump in for a WUM again?

JFK's tactics wouldn't have been considered abuse, just a heavy pass.

I'm just pointing up the hypocrisy of condemning Trump while turning a blind eye to similar behaviour by Democratic politicians. If ever there was a sexual predator it was JFK, yet, if acknowledged at all, it features only as a footnote in liberal commentaries. When Clinton was accused of serious misbehaviour in office, the liberal community, forgetting all their previous sermonising about sexual harassment etc, flocked to his defence.

Also can we blame Obama for something too? He did stare at Beyonce one time.

And yet I didn't do this. I'll quite happily condemn Dems for their past infidelities. I did think during the campaign that the Dems campaign against Trump's abuses was weakened by Bill's past. You're doing something except rebutting a point I made with your own false claims.

Is that 3pm CNN release of the Trump Apprentice Outtakes still on the cards or was that bullshit?

Ok, that poster above... Is he a Trump supporter, Republican or just a WUM?

WUM on a timer... jumps in with something controversial/grotesque, disappears for a few days then jumps in again when the previous one is forgotten. George Owen is another like that.

Edit: not sure who you mean now :D
