The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

See, this is the biggest problem I have with The Moron, and believe me, I have many! However the plain fact that he lies continuously and so badly really grates on me. I really cannot understand how he gets away with it all the time, it's as if the truth really doesn't matter or apply to him. The same can be said with evidence, it simply does not apply to him whatsoever. That's the most distressing thing, is that he's not even intelligent enough to do things behind people's backs and hide it, he is so blatant about it all, mainly because he's so fecking dim. Yet despite all this, it still seems as if none of it matters. His famous quote of being able to shoot someone and still get votes is probably the most honest, truthful, intelligent and insightful thing he has ever said, and it's still abhorrent. That sums him up completely though, he is abhorrent, a disgusting, vile excuse of a man, yet he continues to get away with stuff that is so easily countered and nearly every single time, it could be countered by himself, be it quotes, video evidence, tweets or historical records, the evidence is all there for all to see. I can understand his supporters not getting it, people delude themselves on a daily basis, they often only see what they want to see, refuse to see what is in front of them because they don't want their dreams crushed. What I cannot fathom is how none of it applies to the giant orange cnut? How is he any different? Some of his acts are truly despicable and yet he appears to be untouchable. It is truly baffling and depressing.

I just hope his luck runs out soon enough and when he falls, he falls fecking hard and we are all there to see it and ridicule him over it.

A proper read of his old Twitter posts shows how desperate and naive the assumption was that he'd either tone himself down in the lead-up to the election, or in the aftermath if he won.

He's genuinely a complete mentalist on it: the one tweet regularly brought up on climate change negated to show how it wasn't a one-off, but a genuine belief he held, because he believed Obama's administration had changed the term from 'global warming' to 'climate change' because of certain spells of cold weather the US were getting.

He's had beef with China for a long time, not just during the campaign, and his childish language has always been like that - not just when he was trying to appeal to voters. Plus as you go back through you find the stuff he said about revolution after he thought Romney won the popular vote etc. His sanity is questionable.

I've heard it said, 'you get the government you deserve'... From where I'm standing there doesn't seem to be much fight. More a passive acceptance...

Like I said I hope I'm wrong, I don't have much to go on...

With all the things he's said only since being elected and, not to mention the campaign, him saying the n-word a few years ago will suddenly have ''nuclear impact''?
Well it's the president elect so you'd think it would at least tip the needle a bit?

Depends on the context in which he said it - despite his racist rhetoric and undertones, to some people you can only be racist if you call someone the N word out right, every thing is excusable as political correctness and free speech etc.

People won't care until they realise they won't get their job in the old mine back anyway. At this point things get really interesting. Do they wise up and vote for the person who actually has proposals that will help them? Or are they going to go for someone even more terrible (if such a person exists)?

Old wisdom : When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.
New wisdom: When you find yourself in a hole, keep digging, you might find gold.

Trump continues to earn his highest favorability ratings among white evangelicals, acc to latest WaPo/ABC poll.

It just goes to show that so many people vote in the USA based purely on two issues, guns and abortions. You can kill each other, but not unborn babies.

Erik Prince, America’s most notorious mercenary, is lurking in the shadows of the incoming Trump administration. A former senior U.S. official who has advised the Trump transition told The Intercept that Prince has been advising the team on matters related to intelligence and defense, including weighing in on candidates for the defense and state departments. The official asked not to be identified because of a transition policy prohibiting discussion of confidential deliberations.

EXXON MOBIL UNDER ITS CEO Rex Tillerson frequently pressed the U.S. State Department for help in negotiating complex business deals and overcoming foreign opposition to its drilling projects, according to documents reviewed by The Intercept.

The requests for help — documented in diplomatic cables obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request from DeSmogBlog as well as some previously released by Wikileaks — raise a whole new series of conflict-of-interest concerns about Tillerson, who retired as Exxon Mobil CEO soon after being nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to be the next secretary of state.

I find it incredible how a future president can get away with so many blatant lies. How is this even being accepted?

Let's see how the White evangelicals poll after the pee pee tape is released.
"What grown adults do/get prostitutes to do in their own bedroom/hired Russian hotel room should be none of anyone's business!"
That's terrible news if he is unpopular among atheists only.
Well it's the relative figures that count really, I imagine Dubya performed far better among non-evangelicals even outside of his transition bounce. Would be interested to see figures, though.

Probably a load of nonsense this, but I still felt the urge to sign it.

I don't think a non-high alert status is even possible given the current force profile. For one the main arm of SSBNs is permanently at sea in some number, and being at sea they are permanently manned and prepared. Not being at sea would defeat their purpose (stealth). So basically only an artificial delay in communication could slow down the process, because its really been designed to respond quickly in case of an attack.

My point just being, you could call your status whatever you like (and they probably say they're at DEFCON 5, lowest alert), the reality is just that they're always in a position to launch quickly. We've talked about it before here, essentially we're relying on SecDef, or highest Generals to basically break protocol and not follow an order immediately if its a first strike.

Yeah, but what was the truth to begin with? Because I sure as hell can't remember it. It was eight billion lies ago and the story has changed many times since then. Did he reveal his tax returns after he won the election? Maybe he didn't say that after all. Maybe he doesn't even have tax returns? I'm pretty sure he hasn't even got money, but that's only because money doesn't exist. That's what Trump told me and he should know, he invented money don't you know? Lies, lies, Russia, not Russia, what's Russia? Putin is an alligator, oh look there's a squirrel, tiny tiny hands.

I don't think transcripts of his word salads will ever not be moribidly fascinating. A broken mind at work.

I've never seen anything like it. I think middle schoolers would get extra attention for speaking like that.

Also, you know what his mind went to around the end of that, right? "So the President is able to make $1b cash payments... hmmm..."

I think Bush's popularity figures were ridiculously high post-911 as well.

Ah, for feck's sake. Is that from the Sunday Times interview?

It is, it's the best Sunday Times interview and it's the Sunday Times. I remember time - what's the time? I knew Tim back in the day, great, great guy.
