So am I getting this right? Real video = fake news. Doctored video propaganda = the truth?

Are shites smeared on a plate called "duck liver pate" now as well? This new world is getting so confusing...
Post-truth. Everyone can build his own truth.

@Danny_

Iowa is a major soyabean producer. Soybean exports have fallen due to retaliatory tariffs from China after Trump's steel tariffs.

Iowa is a fairly reliably Republican state. It voted for Romney, for Trump by a massive margin, has Republican control of state house, and a Republican governor. 3 of its 4 congressional seats were red in 2016.
In this election, 2 of those seats flipped to the Dems, going from 3/4 GOP to 3/4 Dem. No other state in the region had a comparable shift. At the same time, the Republicans at state level (both governor and state reps) retained control.

Do you think the tariffs might have cost Trump and the national GOP by hurting Iowa's economy? His approval rating in the state (which he won by 10 points) is at 45, with disapproval above 50.

Seems pretty selfish to risk the reproductive rights of every woman in the country because she didnt want to sit home and watch wheel of fortune.

Yeah, or maybe it’s the exact opposite and she hanging on just to prevent Trump picking another Kavanaugh.

...

She could have retired in 09 with a democratic president and democratic supermajority

What are those three dots supposed to mean?

And yes, in retrospect that probably would’ve been for the best. But in 09, noone could have forseen a disaster like Trump coming.

In 2009 she was 76 years old and had survived two different types of cancer. No one could have seen Trump coming but they could easily see a Republican president coming. It was selfish to put herself ahead of the country.

People are selfish in many ways. They are selfish when they can't vote pragmatically to get a half way candidate elected because their votes have to be earned. Probably Ginsberg felt that her retirement had to be earned by a President.

I get that, but maybe she thought that her beating the cancer was a sign that she should carry on. Could be a thousand reasons. Either way, neither of us will ever know and I’m too drunk and don’t know her well enough to get in to an argument about it.

That's an extremely selfish view, if that was indeed her position.

Did you donate money in the 2018 election cycle? Volunteer any of your time?

So that's a no for you I guess.

:wenger:

Can you end this weird line of questioning? Whatever I did had nothing to do with my posts on RBG's selfishness. I can't confirm or deny whether I anonymously contributed to any political campaigns and I have no obligation to share that information with some random person on the internet just to have the right to post something.

I'm trying hard here to remain civil and ask you to politely do one.

I am glad you recognize this in yourself

Have I ever said anywhere I'm not selfish? What does this got to do with RBG or my argument with Eboue? Or If I gave a couple of dollars to Bernie Sanders am I allowed to comment without tripping your moral compass? Can I have a say if I donated to Wikipedia or Guardian? Please man, if I have offended you in anyway, let's forget that and move on to the future.

Apparently Linda McMahon is in line to replace Wilbur Ross as Secretary of Commerce. Next up John Cena as chairman of FDA and Undertaker for the EPA.

To be fair Undertaker would be a solid choice to bring back the environment from the dead. I’m in favor of it.

That's not what Acosta was doing. He was talking over the President and peppering him with questions, depriving others of the chance to do so.

I'm all for Reporters asking President Trump the toughest questions. I'd have every single reporter in the room pick one topic and go after it. delve into detail. Pin him down, make him look a fool for 45 minutes. Repeat questions when he doesn't answer your colleagues first round.

But I'm not going to condone behaviour that sees one reporter monopolise the time, expect to ask extra questions on different topics and generally act like an ass.

If nothing else, people should respect the office. The position of President. The structure of briefings etc. To not respect that means you're not left with much when that pleb vacates the seat.
But the whole issue has escalated because of the claims that Acosta assaulted the intern. Trump could have kept the moral high ground if he'd handled it with a bit more integrity, diplomacy and dignity, instead of using the arrogant body language that does not give the impression of a man suited to high office. And now we have the question of a doctored video - all because Trump had to show who was boss. If he had an ounce of Presidential acumen, he'd have let Acosta show himself up - if that's what he was doing - and avoided all this. But then, he thrives on it.

Who stole the cookies?
"Not me"
Yes you did.
"Nope. Fake news"
...your hand is still in the jar.
"Fake news"

He's a four year old. The fact that we can live in a day and age where we smirk at how advanced we are compared to previous generations yet our world is filled with alternative facts, ludicrous conspiracy theories and a large contingent of brain dead sheeple makes my head hurt.

I know, sheeple is an awful word but urgh....

Trump is a total twerp. Cannot for the life of me understand how his voters can’t see that. He has made a complete mockery of the whole political system.
Because they are twerps (haven't heard this word in decades) too. Or don't mind voting for a twerp... So yes, twerps.
