I don't think anyone has ever doubted that Americans have generally high standards of living. It's just that it resembles a third world country in many other ways. Like equality, labour laws, consumer protection, the political system, health care and education. A few of those are amazing if you're wealthy, but then that's where the inequality thing comes in.

Certainly I'd live in Denmark, Sweden or Finland far before I'd live in the US, if I had to move. Most of Europe as well, probably.
 
That White House report is utterly gash as it is loaded with scaremongering rather than being treated as a objective report. It mentions Cuba and Venezuela and then the Scandinavian countries which are completely different and should never be in the same report. It holds no value of worth.

It tries to equalize China, Cuba, Venezuela with the Scandinavian model to try smear the name of Socialism without even separating socialism from the Democratic Socialism state model. It also contains absolut crap propaganda wording like your money and someone else´s money in a figure. It is a horrible propaganda report trying to disguise it self as an objective and serious academic report.

The rest of us at least recognise that the Scandinavian nations have it right.

Never mind that what China, Cuba and Venezuela have is not really socialism. They might well have taken cues from socialism, but given the people's complete inability to affect anything in their countries (among many other things), no way in hell can it be called socialism.

But yeah, that report is a fecking embarrassment. To put the Nordics in the same category as Cuba, Venezuela and China is an insult. Might as well go "You know who else called themselves socialists? The Nazis. Which means that the Nordics, with their socialism, are Nazis as well. And this is what Crazy Bernie wants to model the US on, so he's probably a Nazi too!" Because that's about as accurate as anything in that "report".

Isn't this the sort of stuff they do in North Korea; telling people that they are much better off than in other countries? I suppose it serves its purpose if some of the Americans believe it. Sadly, I have no doubt there will be many of those. Americans prioritise wealth making at the expense of society.
