They always believes in something, the asians. It might be different with your typical christians/muslim/budhist. Alot is unheard of and has been mixed with local culture. Animism, totemism, polytheistic is still ripe in many asian country.

Indeed. Could be a base rate bias. The population of London and Auckland together is just a little over 0.1% of the world population. Even if your circle is 0.1% of the populations of London + Auckland, it is still a small base from which to estimate worldwide numbers.
I would say ~ 2% atheists worldwide sounds credible, considering the high levels of religiosity in Asia, Africa and South America.
I guess you should also differentiate the 'non-religious' from atheists; there are many more of the former.
