The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

The only thing he can partially claim is a strong economy and extremely low unemployment rate, which were both already in motion under Obama but have increased under Trump.

He has not repealed Obamacare and he has not built a wall - both things he endlessly bloviated about during the campaign. Repealing the individual mandate without an alternative has simply made healthcare worse.
That's a great word.

In the immediate term, I see SK and NK benefitting the most with both leaders able to point to "wins." Trump gets his photo op but not sure what else benefits the US substantially. China and Russia should have cover to reduce sanctions now and not be out of line.

That seemed to be the point of all this - appease Trump's ego a bit and get him to back down on things that actually hurt the key players. The US retreat from global leadership continues with Russia and China coming to fill the void.

Not even sure SK will be happy about this - they want peace, but this doesn't really guarantee that NK will scale down anytime soon, and if anything points to a cosying of relations between the US and NK which would've been unimaginable just months ago.

Yup. You have to think there's probably quite a few South Koreans right now thinking 'Did we just feck ourselves..?'.

Okay but you mentioned an echo chamber that would lead to surprise. I don't think that happened at all. Everyone knew he was going to win and the reasons why; there was no echo chamber or suprise. Very different to what happened with Trump.
I don’t think he was thought to be the definite future PM like 1/2 years before he did. Many thought the BJP wouldn’t even let him get the nomination.

You just have to look at their various statements and what their officials have been briefing to realise this is wrong. You also have to include Japan in the conversation.
SK has lost the deterrent of the exercises for no obvious security gain.
They were positive about holding the meeting but Trump has gone far above what anyone expected America to give.
They were completely unaware the Foal Eagle was even on the table.

Paz.. absolutely not. Most of india knew. Sounds like you were in the echo chamber.

Not really. Many posters have made valid points and asked for a deeper discussion.

That usually results in responses like yours or "we can't be arsed to explain".

Actually the main reason for the lack of proper discussion is that the 'valid points' are just a cover for having a pop at Trump. And racists, misogynists and deplorable idiots like me.

Not one of these trump supporters are near this thread on the dozens of days he fecks shit up or says something stupid that would get a pizza delivery driver fired. The list of his accomplishments is also a fecking joke and outside of the long term economic trends those "accomplishments" are bringing people and families misery. But dont worry, trump has given us just enough of a tax cut for a Sam's Club membership, heil trump.
Nothing of substance with NK has been achieved just yet so people should take their cocks out of their mouths and start being concerned about the shit storm brewing with the united western democracies after the G7.

Paz with the classic "I don't really care about Trump or the politics of America so let me spend the next several pages talking defending Trump, Trump supporters, and winding up lefties".

Why would we need cover for any of those things?

We could at least start by trying to not deflect every question with lol what about Obama. You know, go from there. We might even have a good time :)

You are proving my point.

No one has called you a racist (or anything else) as far as I'm aware.

The bolded is categorically untrue. This is just deflection. Stop painting Trump as some sort of victim. It's pathetic. Start addressing the points and rebuttals in this thread.

spare us the handwringing about legitimizing regimes or whatever line the hawkish think tanks are promoting lately

It's as if people forget the US is no saint on the geopolitical scale. We have our fair share of human rights abuses both in past and present, so this type of argument from either side is hallow.

Honestly, I'd like it to be a Caf rule that when you use a phrase like this, "SJW" or any other of those idiotic terms, you instantly lose an argument.
Didn't you hear? Being virtuous is considered bad now. Only snowflake libtard beta ***** care about virtue. Real men grab women by the pussy and eat raw meat whilst beating up their wives.

How do you eat raw meat while one hand is grabbing and the other is beating?

This Real Man stuff sounds difficult.

Feelings (or qualitative data if you will) are bad too.

There isn't a scientist or researcher worth their salt who dismisses one or the other (both are needed) but whatever. Facts (or data you can manipulate) over feelings and all that.

Unless there is some real substance to come from this summit, which is certainly possible but yet to be known, Trump is going to come back to his domestic struggles with the ongoing investigations into his election, business dealings, and network relating to Russia/Putin once the media honeymoon period is over.

Why are all Trump supporters such obvious idiots? It’s weird. I’ve spent a fair bit of time arguing with Corbynites in another thread and at least they can form a coherent argument. With the Trumpists it’s just shit memes and straw men. Almost a parody of their dear leader.

Who knows....one day they may dump on him like they have with George W Bush. He won re-election by 3 million votes. He was adored by Fox and still is by Hannity for his patriotism "USA USA USA" leadership, until after the presidency when now his decisions are tarred as being globalist by the Trump right.

Bush's support among republicans was loyal to the end (22% overall approval rating came at the end of 8 years. Trump has been hovering in the 30s in less than two years). Maybe when there is no wall and rural America is no better off then Trump will be seen as a globalist neo-con like Bush is now.

After Trump they will probably start a Alex Jones for President movement.

reducing the likelihood of nuclear war is a good thing. trump is obviously too stupid and vile to care about helping people and have any coherent plan but this is still a good development.
Yup.

And what would be an even better thing is if this leads to sanctions being lifted on a country where people are really struggling.

Agreed. But the question is, on balance, has Trump actually done this, or has he emboldened one dictator (NK) after infuriating and potentially increasing the likelihood of nuclear capabilities with another regime (Iran)?

Also, a lot of these Trump "accomplishments" are not things that would be celebrated by anyone who isn't completely on the right. Of course the average media outlet is going to report negatively on things like pulling out of the Paris Agreement and the Iran deal. And any agreed upon good thing in his presidency like the economy can only be reported on so much without sounding like a cheerleader for him, and will almost always be second fiddle to his bizarre behavior that occurs multiple times daily. Of course, these behaviors, which generally make us look bad, are going to be reported on unfavorably. If Trump and his supporters are so mad about negative press, they should at least realize that Trump never helps himself in that regard.

Looks like the winder uppers legged it. Complain about lack of intelligent responses and when they come, hit and run.
12 hr boners have left them fatigued. Their hypocrisy was pointed out multiple times but they ignored those facts and video evidence so as to take shots at Obama and Clinton. One poster even had the gumption to call all media biased except fox. That's like saying every vegetable is a fruit except an orange, which is the only vegetable.
Standard leftie response!
Not really. How can you have a substantive debate on trump without having Obama or Hillary been thrown in as a response. If we weighed the pros and cons of this administration to include immediate responses and long term effects no one in their right mind could say it has been positive, except for corporations, hateful rhetoric and comedy. Every good thing trump supporters have said he has done can be picked apart to reveal all fart and no shit.
