He was polling as low as in the single digits with blacks, so for him to get to 20% is quite an accomplishment given the stranglehold Democrats have on the black vote.

He wasn't supposed to do particularly well among Hispanics either after the rapist, build a wall, mass deportation, and Judge Curiel narratives, and yet he would up doing comparatively quite well.

for them (the republicans)to do any better their base support needs to start trying to win the black vote as opposed to trying to prevent black people from voting

He didn't get 20%, he still got single digits.

And like I said among Hispanics the issue of race and identity is a hot topic, you'll find White Hispanics who are more likely to be conservative & have discriminatory views even against darker-skinned Hispanics. For instance Afro-Mexicans, Haitians & Dominicans are seen as ugly, poor, uneducated etc and rarely depicted in media. But that's a different topic to be had. The point is, just because more Hispanics voted for him, that doesn't prove much when you look at the demographics & complexity of Latin America.

Well feck that's more than he was supposed to get.

Obama got 93 to 7 versus Romney. Obama.

It isn't a case of him doing better than expected. If we ever get access to the actual raw vote number of black voters who vote Republican in 12 vs 16, I'd imagine it's quite similar.

Trump won about the same amount of whites as Romney and more or less matched Romney's numbers on blacks. He made up the difference by people not coming out to vote for Hillary in as big of numbers as was needed, especially Millennials.

Why didn't he get 100% ?

Donald Trump is actually Vladimir Putin using the Face/Off machine. And Hillary Clinton actually won 101% of the vote but Russian hackers changed the result.

Voter turnout was lower this time around, I think by quite a considerable margin - so by raw numbers he may have received the same amount but comparatively to population & eligibility to vote, he received less votes.

Nope, higher in absolute and % terms.

I'm placing my $100 bet on us re-litigating the election another 8 times before the inauguration.

Just read about Trump's plane, apparently there's a Trump family crest. And it adorns cushions.

I gotta admit, I'm an airplane person. When you're one of those, you're probably going to admire Boeing (what else are you going to do, admire the french?). So I woke up and Trump had gone after something personal, again! Its like he won't stop attacking everything I care about, even fecking planes!

Gen. Kelly to head Homeland Security.

For a guy who thought he knew more than our best military minds...that's the 3rd military appointment.

I think Gen. Kelly is a good pick - he'll be tough but unlike bastard politicians, he'll make decisions for the right reasons.

Now if he would feck Flynn off and replace him with Petraeus we will be in good shape.

You think he's just impressed like a teenager (some) by guys who've been in combat?

 If he really wanted it cheaper he'd give Airbus a fair chance to compete on the AF1 bid. But that's not gonna happen, so it leaves Boeing in a position to charge whatever they think they can get away with.

As in, he continued to have a successful career as a left wing politician and social activist without having his entire career smeared as an anti-semite.

Continued to have a successful career as a politician? Slaughtered twice in primaries and never elected to public office. Some token, unpaid, "shadow senator" status. Successful? At least he could have won an election somewhere.

He also became embroiled in scandals such as bribes, "shaking down" white companies and having illegitimate children outside of marriage. He´s pretty much became a laughing stock, but if you consider that successful, ok.

Still, the point was, you stated no one considered him anti semitic for the "Hymietown" remark, when in fact, it was totally the contrary. He was massively condemned by everyone as anti semitic, and had to go about begging for forgiveness.

I never said he won, just that he continued operating as a politician in the 80s.

Hard to see the Air Force selecting a foreign manufacturer for the flagship aircraft of the country. And typically the military cracks down hard on excessive charges from defense contractors. The price mentioned sounds about right, considering the customization needed.

Hi Will.

Are you planning a big Inauguration watch party?

I'm planning to stay home with my loved ones around me and shed a quiet tear when the Great One ascends his throne.

For good or ill, I'm sure DT will surprise a lot of people. For the first time ever, America has a President who may totally reject the status quo. It's going to be an interesting four years.

Except from all those establishment Republican figures and Goldman Sachs people he's appointing...
