The truth is that humans are pretty lazy and selfish at the end of the day. Even though Trump is a complete embarrassment, the economy is going upwards so the vast majority of people are not directly affected by his ineptitude (yet). Occupy Wall Street was not because people suddenly wanted to get rid of corruption and nepotism, it was because they had lost their homes and/or jobs on account of the banking crisis.
Hell, even the french revolution had little to do with high political ideals for most people, and more to do with the fact they were starving
