Watching this Miller interview now. Have to keep asking myself (even thinking of how poor Theresa May is with the media over here), are these governments unaware of how poor their communication is getting?

That Miller guy can barely speak properly. Genuinely sounds mentally ill.

Why does he think mentioning Reagan helps him?

Bannon has just apologised to Trump.

Edit- Apology may be the wrong word. He's definitely grovelling though.

So I impulsively read this book. A few thoughts.

Wolff is a low level writer. His writing style can be very crass at times. He uses too many dead metaphors and cliches rarely with an original phrase. He peppers profanity at weird moments to try to seem edgy. He comes off like the kid who always tries to be cool by copying what others do but never actually developing his own style. For me Atlantic Monthly presents a consistent quality standard for serious non-fiction. Wolff falls far short of Atlantic Monthly quality. Of course his access supposedly came from Bannon so this is not a surprise.

That said there are some interesting and revealing paragraphs and it has its moments. This section on Scaramucci was probably one of the funniest of the book that really highlights the sloppiness of Trump Org and the type of opportunists his campaign has attracted.

Maybe it's just a clever ploy for Bannon to come out and work with a hack to make a book like this, only to later back down and Trump to use it as a win. It just galvanizes the base when such a high profile situation does indeed turn out to be a load of bullshit and they can use it in the future when the Russia stuff gets even closer? Another victory for Trump in his fight against fake news, all the whilst he's tweeting shite to grab our attention, and it's all constantly distracting from the real issues.

Fair play if this is the case and that's what happens, if it brings back his base supporters at least then it's worked a treat for him.

I don't buy the idea that drama and scandal is good for Trump. It's probably less bad for him than it is for most politicians, but I don't think something like this - particularly involving Bannon - is ever going to be a net positive for him. His core supporters will probably take it as a win, of course, but Trump can't win in 2020 with just his core supporters. Nor can the Republicans win in 2018 like that.

Maybe it's more to stifle future allegations and stuff like this that will emerge. Rather than a situation of it being 'good' for him now, maybe it sets up the future?

I don't know, but seemingly from people who've read the book and the way Bannon is already sucking back up, something seems off about it all.

Bannon just realizes he messed up, and he is telling daddy he's sorry.

Could be.

Though how he didn't realise that before is a bit weird.

I suspect he thought he was more important to Trump's base than... well, Trump. "I created you, I can destroy you if I wish" sort of thing. I'm not sure, but in any case I don't believe this was a calculated move. The "Trump knows what he's doing" narrative has gone too far. Trump doesn't have a master plan, he just acts.

I'm not saying Trump made this move.

But I don't believe the people behind him are quite as stupid as we all like to think. In any case, it just seems weird to me that if you are going to do something like this book then why not do it properly. The timing, the author, the rebuttals, the Bannon apology (or crawling after), it just seems all a little off. It certainly won't hurt Trump any more, but I still think it could actually be used by him to rally around in the near future.

He's a lizard man. He appears medicated to me - some sort of mild sedative/anti anxiety meds that I suspect he thought would help him to appear relatively calm and, yes STABLE, in a hostile interview. Instead he looks and comes across as a some sort of junky/window salesman hybrid.

Melania and Ivanka could be standing naked infront of this guy asking him if he wants a weekend he will never forget and he would just lay there wanking to the thought of how close trump's pecker has been to both of them.

I am not sure how close trumps pecker has been to Ivanka... And as I don't want a cease and desist letter from the trump lawyers I'm not going to speculate
