Watching "Vietnam" on PBS now and they're covering an early battle (Ap Bac).
General Harkins in Saigon saying it was a victory and that the VC lost more people than the Arvn (with no proof). And telling US reporters that were reporting the story that they should "get on the team".
Sounds very similar to the BS we hear today.
Saw the commercial and meant to watch this. Didn't know what time though.

Drumpf just called Kim Rocketman again - this time in a speech before the UN assembly. Can't make this up.

I watched some of it. He has a weird tendency to spend a lot of time praising America and its constitution and telling us all how it is a shining light of inspiration for the rest of us.

He's not a bad orator really but listening to this speech at any given moment i have no idea what point he's trying to arrive at as he shifts points so often.

The forceful language is correct at this stage, the trouble is the person who is saying it just isn't intimidating enough.

Trump will parrot whatever Stephen Miller writes for him. His real views are probably more in line with what he says off the cuff.....like this...

He's also said pretty much the same thing at least three or four times now. Each time Kim has just laughed or ignored him and carried on firing missiles over Japan. He's continually called Trumps bluff and left him looking weak and ineffective.

One question that pops up is why this testimony was cancelled for giving info to the media. Kushner also released information and his testimony went ahead.

Pretty hilarious chart.

To be fair I read the whole speech and was actually surprised how nuanced it was as compared to Trump standards. He comes across as a bumbling buffoon on his twitter TL so was expecting the same.

He's been fairly normal by his usual standards of late. I get the impression he's slowly stumbling into the job. Sadly for him, it comes as Mueller's investigation seems to be gaining momentum.

Reading a pre-written speech of the teleprompter does that. His speech in Saudi Arabia was reasonably fine too but it didn't last. When he's off the leash as he is on twitter and at rallies is the unfiltered Trump who WH aides struggle to control. Obama's tweets had to be okay'd by several officials before being posted whereas Trump rattles them off on the go depending on the mood and what Fox and Friends are discussing.

Not really, I do think he has a staff to monitor those tweets too. For us normal people, his tweets might appear like a ramblings of a mad man but to his followers they're part of the reason why he was voted into.

For eg- he called Kim Rocketman in his tweets, seemed to do that again in his speech.

From account within the WH there really isn't anyone filtering him on Twitter. When people write speeches for him, he can of course edit them however he wishes though, which is almost certainly where that 'Rocketman' mention came in. End of the day he decided what he will and won't say.
