Come on, it's hardly a dump though is it? And I'm pretty sure renovations would have the place bang up to date, and I am also sure that it will be furnished with every single comfort anyone could ever want, including the infamous bowling alley and basketball court. It's not even that old either, I live in a 15th century house so believe me I know about old buildings.
I think the biggest issue is with the internet in the residential area, they had some heating issues too, and the West Wing has a fly issue (there was an interview where Obama killed one midway through). Of course, nothing too major and us plebs would be over the moon to be living in there, considering the army of servants employed to see for your every needs, but for millionaires and billionaires used to the comfort of a modern condominium/high rise/private estate, they would be less than enthusiastic living in there for an extended length of time.
It's all relative. There are a million more Trump quotes to laugh at. Does that one show him to be elitist? Sure, not a surprise.
Anyway, enough about his house, his staff are trying to put out his fires for him.

That was a long time ago, and at a time when the White House was notoriously decrepit and had practically no funding granted for renovations. That's changed somewhat dramatically.
