Even worse then. Even if all of that would go to Germany, I doub't that would even scratch 10% of overall sales here. Europeans really do drink a LOT of wine. Germany alone consumes 2 billion litres every year, and that's behind Italy and France, which are at 2.8 and 2.2 respectively.

Edit: the US is currently at 3,4% share of wines imported into Germany. Overall market share is around 2%. Non existent, really.

No worries, what I'd meant to say was "[Well,] at least [those] 9 broke rank..."

Beer at the lake is to blame for that one
Keep in mind that this is only a procedural vote to move the bill to debate, so of those 9 votes we don't know exactly who are actually objected to the bill and who just dont want to deal with it for now because it's poisonous.

I'd imagine a fair amount goes to the U.K., you see a lot of Cali wines there. Also Britain has shit taste in wine.

My last post on the topic since it's way off topic.

Well that''s Germany, not "Europe".

Below are the 15 countries that exported the highest dollar value worth of wine during 2016:

  1. France: US$9.1 billion (28.2% of total wine exports)
  2. Italy: $6.2 billion (19.2%)
  3. Spain: $3 billion (9.2%)
  4. Chile: $1.9 billion (5.7%)
  5. Australia: $1.7 billion (5.3%)
  6. United States: $1.6 billion (4.8%)
  7. New Zealand: $1.1 billion (3.5%)
  8. Germany: $1 billion (3.2%)
  9. Argentina: $816.8 million (2.5%)
  10. Portugal: $804.5 million (2.5%)
  11. Hong Kong: $669.3 million (2.1%)
  12. United Kingdom: $663.9 million (2.1%)
  13. South Africa: $661.6 million (2%)
  14. China: $542.5 million (1.7%)
  15. Singapore: $455.1 million (1.4%)

So? Exports to Europe are still non existent.

Also, this topic is still more enjoyable than Trump, so...so what :D

Me and my girlfriend have decided to not visit US again until they welcome tourists as human beings. Apparently they can ban you if you criticise US foreign policy on social media as well. It sucks when you are a beer enthusiast and many of the top beer destinations are in US.
I'm visiting Atlanta next week for a conference. I have been to the US several times and never had any issues with the visa waiver application, but for the first time this year my ESTA application was not approved immediately. It took three days. There is no feedback, so I have no idea why, although I suspect recent trips to the Middle East and Nigeria may be a factor. It has left me fretting if I will be 'random' checked on arrival.

It is tempering my anticipation of my first trip to Atlanta.

I go to the US every year; won't be doing that anytime in the near future. I'll be going to Cancun, Costa Rica, Panama, Columbia. Best thing about this is that my money would stretch a lot further in these places. The last time I went to the US I saw how they treated a pregnant lady in the Passport Control line who was only asking to use the bathroom. It was the worst display of humanity I've ever witnessed.

I bet beer sales have gone up in your household since The Donald got voted in!!
My liver should get a medal from the beer and bourbon industries. I'll say that.

This is true. Fair point

Feck me I woke up to 3 pages and got all excited that something had happened. Imagine how gutted I am to find it's 3 pages of bollocks about shit wine. Ugh. :(

You have to wonder why Trump is now all of a sudden so angry at Sessions for recusing himself and wants him to leave. Why is Trump now so bothered by Sessions' decision when the recusal happened over 4 months ago?

One possibility is whether Trump has been tipped off in recent weeks that Mueller has some incriminating evidence in his investigation and its why Trump now wants Sessions out, so a new AG can fire Mueller.

Another interesting thing recently has been Trump asking about pardons and it must be more than just a coincidence these things are going on around the same time.

Mueller AND the FBI are getting closer. Since Sessions recused himself he can't fire Mueller. It's easier to frustrate him into resigning than firing him so Trump can simply say afterwards that Sessions left on his own accord when everyone knows that he basically pressured Sessions into leaving. This is Hitler-esque leadership at it's finest.

I'll predict a random search for sure. I used to get them 100% of the time. Then it stopped suddenly.Been over a decade now.

I'm intrigued to see how many do this and if it will eat into tourism money.

Calm before the storm. Even a high octane movie cant go full-on through out 120minutes.

We are barely at Act 2.

Excellent article. I may be biased though.

Our knock on Trump is not that he hasn’t solved the world’s problems in six months. Nobody could—not even genuinely masterful negotiators like Kissinger and Baker. U.S. interests diverge fundamentally from those of many of the leaders with whom Trump deals, and his leverage isn’t all that great. No, our problem with Trump is that he’s behaving not as a smart and tough negotiator but as a president who readily succumbs to flattery and personal attention without having any negotiating strategy at all, while his negotiating partners rob him blind. Far from the master deal-maker with transformative goals, Trump is emerging as a guy whose America First mantra actually ends up putting America last. That’s bad news for Trump’s presidency—and a tragedy for the American people.

Absolutely spot on.

In any case. Explicitly excluding certain groups of people from certain professions has precedents, but they aren't good ones.

What happens to those already serving, presuming there are a decent number?

Sorry mate.

But you are absolutely spot on, he's opened a can of worms here for sure. The outcry is going to be YUGE! I still ask what's he trying to distract everyone from though? Something this big is usually released to cover a monumental feck up he's committed somewhere.

Trump doesn't have the patience. This is going to end up with a modern day Saturday Night Massacre for sure.
