The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

Any idea how all of these GOP machinations will affect medicare and medicaid?
They'd completely gut Medicaid, which is really I think the crux of this debate.

We do not know the full extent of the cuts since, somehow unremarkably, the GOP broke with standard procedure and moved forward with the proposal without a Congressional Budget Office score. And not just bypassing a full CBO score, but also trying to use haphazard projections by a Committee far less skilled or bipartisan to justify it. #FakeCBOs!!

Why? He's an asshole, but read his speech post vote was ok. Blasted Obama for pushing through ACA on party lines back then. Blasted GOP for shoddy current bill and secretive behind scenes working. Blasted repeal and later replace. Called for bipartisan efforts.

These guys have already answered for me:

He's on a fecking wum. If he said all that and had voted NO then fair enough, but the fact he voted yes makes all those pretty words he said absolutely meaningless.

He can blast them all he likes but he's ultimately given them his approval to go ahead with his and will help to ensure a significant number of Americans lose their healthcare.

Because he constantly says things and then votes in the complete opposite way.

He's a hypocrite. Blasting Obama for pushing through the ACA on party lines just after a vote had to be broken by the vice-president where the only people who voted for it, was his party.

And removing yourself from your taxpayer funded hospital bed to vote to move forward with removing healthcare from 30million plus taxpayers is somewhat cnutish to say the least.

He just said, and I quote........!

"With the exception of the late great Abe Lincoln, I can be more Presidential than any other President that there has been in the history of this country"

He also said "No President HAS EVER done as much in their first 6 months as I have"

"I've added ONE MILLION jobs since I was elected"

"We've achieved a historic increase in defence spending" For fecks sake.

I don't think I can take much more of this.

I remember him saying that in pretty much his first interview after becoming president - unreal.

On the plus side, at least he is aware that Lincoln died.

"Lincoln is actually not with us anymore, not a lot of people know that"

I can't remember who posted, but they said that anytime he says that phrase it indicates that he has just learned that information himself. It's totally an ego thing - to learn something and then tell yourself that you are not the exception for not having known it, but rather that since you didn't know it, most other people can't have known it either.

You have to wonder why Trump is now all of a sudden so angry at Sessions for recusing himself and wants him to leave. Why is Trump now so bothered by Sessions' decision when the recusal happened over 4 months ago?

One possibility is whether Trump has been tipped off in recent weeks that Mueller has some incriminating evidence in his investigation and its why Trump now wants Sessions out, so a new AG can fire Mueller.

Another interesting thing recently has been Trump asking about pardons and it must be more than just a coincidence these things are going on around the same time.

Interesting how the sanctions they just passed weren't just on Russia, but on N.Korea and Iran too. Iran, the country that thanks to the Obama deal was finally starting to open back up to the international community and which is probably now going to go back to being closed because every damn time American politicians want to seem tough they automatically add some feck you to Iran on there. Fecking morons.

I'm still sore because I had the chance of an all expenses paid trip to Tehran this year, and I couldn't go because of the stupid US law they passed a year or two back preventing people from using the visa waiver program if they'd been to Iran within 5 years.

Can't you get a second passport?

Apparently they're ok to put the visa on a seperate sheet so there's no evidence, but that's a big risk to take when you have to travel a lot. If the US border guards ever found out, you'd be banned from the US for at least 5 years. Too big a risk for me personally.

It's all so wrong-headed.

Me and my girlfriend have decided to not visit US again until they welcome tourists as human beings. Apparently they can ban you if you criticise US foreign policy on social media as well. It sucks when you are a beer enthusiast and many of the top beer destinations are in US.

Imagine the homebrew kit you could get for the price of a US holiday though

Can't argue with that.

Top beer destinations in the US

Anyway, it's kinda true. When three friends of mine applied for the waiver program for a New York visit, the two with German names had a positive reply within 24 hours while the one with a Turkish name had to wait three weeks ... all of them are born in Germany and German Nationals.

I'm not a fan of American craft beers but it's really taken off in the last decade or so. Wasn't that long ago wine here was ridiculed.

It still is. Wouldn't go near that piss; to be honest, you can't even buy it here mostly. Sure there might be some gems on the top ends, but the rest mostly doesn't really meet regulations here.

Edit: referring to wine

Read somewhere McCain would have paid more to undergo surgery if it hadn't been for Obamacare.

He isn't under obamacare, like all senators and others in washington, they essentially get single payer healthcare, a complete federal healthcare provision.

Oh yeah, all these different proposals for the obamacare replacement they keep voting on, always have this in mind. They are not voting to change their own, they keep their state provided healthcare, it is always exempt from any changes.

Well everyone has their own opinion and wine is certainly highly subjective.

Absolutely. And US wine just doesn't meet European taste, which is the reasons for its poor sales here.

Also, the US is pretty lose when it comes to Cuvets and adding non natural ingredients, which is extremely frowned upon over here.

I believe I'm on the same plan as him. Can't say I'm that impressed. Not much different to what companies offer. Out of pocket expenses are frustrating when premiums are so high.

I meant that McCain being a military guy would follow the rank & file. The others voted their conscience (politician speak for survival) or principled based..
No worries, what I'd meant to say was "[Well,] at least [those] 9 broke rank..."

Beer at the lake is to blame for that one

Nearly 2 billion in wine export with nearly 1 billion to Europe suggests otherwise unless it is being used as mouthwash?
