Think its time for Obama and Clinton to tell their people to stop the leaks if its going to hamper the Mueller investigation.

You make it sound like they're secretly controlling everything. They could not stop leaks when in power so I doubt they can do anything about them now.

Rumours of some tapes leaking soon, the "from what country" bit has puzzled people, they don't know what it is referring to and are wondering whether it's a preemptive message.

Been seeing Australian tapes mentioned around Twitter for a while now, but only really in relation to that collection of fake journalists who are giving credence to every anti-Trump rumour they hear about. So probably just their followers putting two and two together.

Is the Aussie tapes not just the recording of Turnbull doing his Trump impression?

Nah I've been seeing these runours mentioned before that, about tapes supposedly involving Trump and some girls.

Who's he blaming here, Sessions? Rosenstein?

Yeah looks like he's beginning to lose it.

You can just imagine the staff running to his office to try and wrestle the phone from him.

Under oath, how the hell will he answer anything without contradicting himself? If he can, he is a wordsmith.

Shooting ducks in a barrel for Mueller.

Wow. This guy's a fecking drama queen. You're the potus ffs. Cut down that cheap pls teenage tweets.

I dont expect this from a 70 years old grandpa let alone the potus armed with a nuclear warhead.

Stop laughing at him guys, one day he might wokeup and says feck this shit, while pressing that red button

The thing is, Rosenstein will know if he told Trump to fire him or if he was asked for an excuse to fire him, which will make his investigation very easy.

Hasn't he already said it was the latter?

So he's trying to throw Rosenstein under the bus. Maybe he asked Rosenstein to fire Mueller and Rosenstein refused. So he's throwing a Trump tantrum over it.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein firmly stood by the memo he wrote that outlined James Comey’s offenses – and later was cited by the White House to support President Trump’s decision to fire the FBI director – during briefings with Capitol Hill lawmakers, according to remarks obtained by Fox News.

“I wrote it. I believe it. I stand by it,” he said, according to the opening statement provided by senior Justice Department officials. He maintained that Comey’s handling of the Hillary Clinton email probe was “wrong and unfair.”

Rosenstein said he also discussed “the need for new leadership at the FBI” with Jeff Sessions – then a senator, now the attorney general – last winter.

“Among the concerns that I recall were to restore the credibility of the FBI, respect the established authority of the Department of Justice, limit public statements and eliminate leaks,” he said.

He said he learned on May 8 that Trump intended to remove Comey and “sought my advice and input.”

He said in the statement, “Notwithstanding my personal affection for Director Comey, I thought it was appropriate to seek a new leader.” Rosenstein said he then wrote the memo summarizing his “longstanding concerns” with Comey.

“I chose the issues to include in my memorandum,” he said, adding it was reviewed by a senior career attorney.

Sessions made it pretty clear that they got rid of Comey because they couldn't control him. It's not a terrible reason, in fairness. Obviously he made a lot of other false assertions about his disapproval of how Comey handled the Clinton situation (despite saying it was the right thing to do on live TV 12 months ago) and the loss of confidence in his leadership among the rank and file (thoroughly disproved by key members in the IC) but that statement rang true. He couldn't risk an FBI director taking it upon himself to "do the right thing" and publicly criticise the adminstration and high profile members in it, particularly given Trump's unpredictability.

He has a box of rocks for brains.

A perfect example of better to be lucky than clever -- if Old Man Trump had not given him 300-400 million inheritance, Donald would be driving a cab or running a 7-11 in Queens.

Without money he's legit just the angry old crusty man at the local diner holding court on foreigners, gays, and the good old days over a cup of coffee at 3pm.

He'd make a great NYC cab drive, to be fair. People would be fascinated at his foreign English dialect.
