The Media and their treatment of Raheem Sterling | Agrees new 5 year deal

Stupid tattoo to get if your in the public eye etc etc, but at the end of the day it’s just a tattoo. Maybe the sun should do some proper investagative work into real guns and knives in the UK... that would probably be to much like hard work.

Bit daft from Raheem not seeing the 'big picture.' Really daft from The Sun for loads of reasons.

Anyone getting very excited about it now he's explained it is a moron.

Didn't kids used to spend most of their leisure time playing with guns & other weapons? We didn't have access to the real thing quite so readily maybe, so this is essentially a picture of a gun what he's messing about with isn't it? They have them in magazines & films often enough.

It's all that shite music they like listening to that needs sorting out.

In fact. I'm also holding this tattoo responsible if he doesn't provide Harry with unmissable chance after unmissable chance in the World Cup.

Silly really. He's got a tattoo nothing to see here why is this being reported?

I find it really sad all these people who are against the tattoo. It's a tattoo of a gun it's something on his body that he wanted to put there (I wouldnt) but then again I wouldn't get a tattoo.

This has nothing to do with gun violence. I mean if someone had a tattoo of a child would we blame them for paedophiles???

Just Sun having another cheap shot at a footballer.

Even on talksport this morning, is it the moose guy whos really upfront and opinionated? Starting scoffing the notion about his dad, found the tone awkward to listen to in that aspect

'cheap shot' - :D,

is that with a ball or at 125 rounds per minute?

I see where you are coming from, but most people would have their dads name or his face as a tatttoo. Why a gun?

"Gunned down to death" did make me chuckle.

Also, what 2 year old makes lifetime promises about not touching firearms? Its quite a funny tweet about something that obviously very shit.

He probably could have chosen something more approproiate. My nan died of cancer, but i'm not going to get a tattoo of a cancer cell to remember her by.
See, youre actually the reason the sun does this.

What you do and what other people do are entirely different, not one is right or wrong. Just because you wouldn't get a cancer cell, doesn't mean somebody else wouldn't. Don't actually see what's funny about a boy losing his father in all honesty but that's just me.

Not really. I'm not offfended but anyone with half a brain can see the media would have jumped all over him for this.

His justification is crap really as well.

Is there nothing else thay defines his dad to him? And who gunned him down? A us marine? What criminal is running about with an m16?

Like i said, not offended, but he could have been smarter conaidering how much the media loves stuff like this. The choice is odd regardless of anyones opinions on appropriateness.

And yeah the "i shoot with my right foot so there is a deeper meaning" is funny.

Anyone with a problem with his tattoo is a dickhead imo. its the guy's leg, wtf. being a public figure doesn't give people the right to police someone's body and the choices they make with it.

your dumb ass kids being "influenced" by a footballer getting a tattoo is a failing on your part, not the footballer's. shame that he thought he owed anyone an explanation, i would have told everyone to feck off.

"b-b-but i don't understand the reasons why a stranger made a decision that doesn't concern me or directly harms anyone"

bunch of weirdos.

i hope he scores at the world cup and celebrates by rolling his socks down and lifting his leg as if he was shooting.

That's funny.

No problem with the tattoo and the media are after him for whatever reason but the tattoo looks shit to me and I personally don't buy the reason for it.

You both come across as bellends. His reality in marveley Kingston is probably a little different to yours so you wouldn't understand.

Luckily his tattoo and his reasoning is for him, not you.

I saw Piers Morgan laying into him. This is the man who supports the 'Gunners', who have a canon on their badge? The club whose name literally means a collection of weapons?

Dont mention that though it doesnt fit the agenda.

I cant stand Sterling (pretty much because he played for Liverpool and now City and is pretty good in fairness) but this agenda the media have against him is bizarre. So what if he has a tattoo of a gun (unfinished or not who cares), if it has some personal meaning to him then it shouldnt bother anyone else. Calls for him to not play for England are just stupid.

And Ill bet half the crowd moaning about it on the radio/comments section couldnt even tell you what club he plays for and havent watched an England game since France 98.

Why is it stupid ? It ain't like it's a swastika or something

His reality is mansions and wealth. And you basically remember nothing from when you are 2. I am sure it was horrible growing up without a dad but the point is, why court controversy (not my opinion but clearly plenty of idiots are outraged) if you think you're given a hard deal by the media. Hes just asking for it (again not saying i agree with it being an outrage), but if i was him i would probably have done something different.

Maybe you just can't understand my point.

I've seen much worse tattoos than that, none of which were anyone else's business either.

Brain-dead little twerp. With what's going on in the world concerning guns you'd have thought he'd have utilised his one brain cell before getting a tattoo of an assault weapon.

Gangstas in the 'hood will think he's cool though, so that's all that matters.

I find it a very bizarre tattoo to have. If my dad had been killed by a gun, the last thing I would want to see every time I looked down at my leg would be a gun. It's honestly a bit mental.

A normal person would have their dad's name and/ or dates they lived from/ to and a simple RIP, something like that.

I certainly don't think it's a reason to drop him from the World Cup but I do find it a very strange thing to do.

My family are from the exact part of Jamaica he is from, and I'm from the exact part of London he grew up in. His reality growing up was far from mansions and wealth. What a ridiculous statement.

Because he can't physically remember being told or seeing his father shot dead he shouldn't feel anything? Because you don't remember anything when your 2 anyway so why should he care aye?

He shouldn't be allowed to get a tattoo that's meaningful to him and not offensive to anyone else, because the media might poke fun is what youre saying? He's asking for it?

Fair enough though, if you were him (even though you're anything but and probably have had entirely different life experiences so haven't got the foggiest clue what he's about), you would have done it different. Good on ya, man.

Better question is why not a gun. We live in a land of supposed free expression and yet because some people misuse guns and young man who identifies with that image is wrong? Where does it stop?

I mean i get the whole it's a sh*t tatoo, couldn't agree more but no-one else has to wear it. So leave him be.

Why is this even in the news, nothing story.

I might have had a bit more respect if he'd admitted to a fascination with gun culture and wanting to look hard instead of coming out with this "my dad" bollocks.

What if his dad had been killed in a car accident, would his tattoo have been a reasonably-priced but badly-driven Ford Focus?

The women who wants him banned is ridiculous unless he gets it removed is the most over the top of the lot. I mean his sock will cover it already, personally I have no issue with it but even if someone did I doubt you’ll see much of it when he plays anyway

I am not going to have a go at the lad. He has come from an exceptionally tough background, which most people could never comprehend. From what is coming out it isn't even finished yet, so we can presume he will put a message with it. Would I criticise the lady who complained, no, her son was shot, so people should understand her distress. Do I think there is a vendetta against Sterling by certain newspapers, too damn right I do. How dare he become successful and make the best of his talents and make money. It must be seriously P***ing off some of these papers.

Personally I think it's completely inappropriate. Considering the power and accuracy his right leg yields, he should have gone for a spudgun.

Jesus Christ.

I thought they would keep their stories until England gets eliminated so they can look for a scapegoat.
