The Media and their treatment of Raheem Sterling | Agrees new 5 year deal

He is talking about Sterling's decision to travel so far away. Not every criticism has some deep and sinister connotation.

Yes, I know that mate - I was being facetious. I’d have thought my subsequent comments on the same post highlighting my real issues with his post would’ve been picked up on by you, seeing as though you’re one of the best posters on here.

Did I say nobody has ever been shot in London?
Read what I said again.

Then read what you posted, it refers to ‘gun crime’ not murder.
Then on the second page “most crimes involving guns do not result in the weapon being fired”

So since you want to refer to ‘slaughter’ you might want to use facts first, no?

@Rednotdead no response to this then?
Your reading comprehension continues to fail you in lieu of your dislike for Sterling.

Why, what’s wrong with Jamaica? Is there something you’re not telling us?

Anyway, who put you in charge of where footballers can travel to? In any case, last time I looked, when it comes to transport it isn’t just long-haul flights that get delayed or cancelled. If Sterling had decided on a mini-break in this country and his train was delayed/cancelled leading him to turn up late, would that have been more acceptable in your eyes? It’s that same kind of twisted logic that had people questioning why Aguero had travelled to Amsterdam that time he got injured after his taxi crashed en route back to the airport. As if taxis aren’t capable of crashing in Manchester ffs.
Ok, let me put this to you. You're a member of the England squad and competing with Sterling for a place. You turn up on time, train well and show commitment. Sterling doesn't turn up until the next day and says "sorry boss, flight was delayed. Not my fault" and Southgate says "Oh, ok Raheem, no problem". How would you feel? What would you be thinking?

If Southgate had no problem with it he's certainly not suited to management. I would suspect, however, that not having a problem with it was only his public face talking. If he is any sort of manager he'll have torn Sterling to shreds and rightly so.

Oh, I wasn't aware I was obliged to reply to everyone and everything. Can you point out where in the T&C's where that's stated please?

Just pointing out that you posted false information, and you continue to do so with no regards to take a few moments to fact check.

You really don’t like Sterling do you?

“Torn Sterling to shreds”. For being late for work? Once? Did you really just post that? Jesus wept:lol:

I hope to fook you’re never late for work mate, given what you’re advocating what should happen to Sterling:nono:

He was given the extra time off. It’s another made up story blown out of proportion.

Sterling's liking of guns apart for a moment, the most irritating thing I've read here is this 3 lions nonsense. Like your mates's going to ring you and say 'going down to the pub to watch the 3 lions tonight then?' What bollocks.

Or maybe Sterling just keeps painting a target on his own back?

After the tattoo controversy you'd have thought anyone with any sort of brain would have realised they'd better make sure they were unimpeachable. Every other player manages to get there on time but Sterling just doesn't bother and it's the media's fault for reporting it?

And the Sun feel the need to report it because...

God, you must work in some bloody hostile environments if you think a flight being cancelled is a legitimate reason for managers to 'tear people to shreds'.

Why would Sterling travel to Jamaica? Maybe because he is jamaican, it really sounds like a non story for the public, these type of things are internal, you make him run 5km and then have laugh.

Because it sells papers, generates clicks and gets people talking about The Sun on websites like this.

Oh I agree, they are just doubling-down at this point. I was just asking @Rednotdead what justification they see in The Sun printing irrelevant information that is neither in the interest of the public or of interest to the public.

What false information did I post and continue to post?

I have no particular feelings about Sterling. I just don’t like his behaviour.

You could make that argument about most things printed in most papers. Some people will find some things interesting and others won’t.

His behaviour?
You mean donating to the victims of Grendel, building schools in Jamaica, partakes in community events and looks after his family?

Yeah, he’s a despicable human.

It's a bloody surreal world these days, in which the victims are apparently the perpetrators.

The Times have done a front page story on the circumstances surrounding the death of his Dad. He was going to a funeral and had to pass through 'enemy territory' - he was ambushed by a small mob by the sounds of it.

Article is titled ''Family Tragedy That Haunts England Star Raheem Sterling'' and it has a positive slant I suppose, despite the subject matter

Also gets into pointing out that ''Your Arsenal badge has got a cannon on it'' and that ''The Gunners'' might want to think about re-branding themselves,.

The redtops' journalists seem to have forgotten their regular use of tin-helmeted Psycho Pearce and co ahead of major tournaments, as if these contests were wars...

Not sure that canons are really evocative of 21st century urban gang violence.

FFS. Where will it end? Literally anything could be used as a weapon!

I think we can all agree that the Sun is a hateful rag.

I think tabloids in general stir up racial tensions deliberately. Sells papers and pushes agendas (brexit?).

Unsure if it's been mentioned on the Forum as I've not been around much since, but seems an appropriate enough thread. Anyone else think he should have seen red for his dive v Nigeria? Basically threw his knee into the keeper, could easily end up with a Cech type scenario if keeper comes out at speed.

Behaviour? You had an example on Saturday evening - an amateurish attempt to con the referee into giving a penalty. It now emerges the squad had discussed diving before the match but he STILL did it.

No doubt you'll have an excuse for Saint Raheem though.

Never thought I'd like an English player who has played for Liverpool and City and has a tattoo of a fecking assault rifle but here we are. If the gutter english tabloids are against him then Ill support the lad. Still don't want him to play well mind you

Oh dear, a footballer dived. Won’t somebody think of the children?

I don’t condone diving at all but it’s hardly the end of the world is it?

You don’t have any comments about the good that he’s done in the community, locally and internationally? Nope, thought not.

You’re a grown man and allowing yourself to have genuine dislike for someone you’ll never meet. Grow up.

So what you're saying is that if a player does a few good things that completely outweighs everything else and we have to revere him?

This "player" has scored a grand total of 2 goals in the 38 games he's played for England - that's the equivalent of a full EPL season.

I'm grown up and I can see a hell of a lot more than you can see through your Sterling-tinted glasses. Take them off for a minute.

I'm saying that he dived in a friendly game, get over it.
And yes, the good that he's done outweighs his dive, what other offences has he committed?

Not sure why you're conflating England games with EPL games or what relevance that has, considering he's shown himself to be more than capable in the EPL.

You may be an adult, but you're incredibly immature.

He was shit for England earlier.

Expected nothing less TBH. Would hope that Southgate sticks to his word on picking players on form rather than reputation. On his display last night Sterling should be benched to make way for Rashers. Rashers will stretch the opposition more with the added bonus of being able to finish. Would admit that Lingard was also poor last night. He is a better finisher than Sterling though so this should save him for at least 1 more game.

Utterly useless last night, he looked like he was tripping over his own feet and and has shown again he's far too weak to play as part of a 2 up front, his hold up was terrible. Will be a shoe in to start the next game though.

I genuinely feel for Rashford, every time he puts an England shirt on he looks dangerous, even Keown in the commentary was urging us to pass to it him, he's far more effective and should be starting.

I think the knock beforehand was a convenient excuse which deflected away from the sterling rashford selection decision. I hate to say it but Southgate will simply not bench Sterling, despite this formation not suiting him at all.

He a wide player and should stay a wide player, problem for him is currently England aren’t playing with wingers. He will continue against Panama, if he doesn’t score against them I think he will get benched.

Nice to agree with you for a change, apart from the last part sadly.
