Yeah I could have sworn one of the articles swoosh posted said something about being able to change the frequency in private lobbies.
In the interaction menu, you can select which events you get notifications for - but I think it just means that if you hide notifications for, say, hunt the beast, then you won't be told when it is starting. I don't think it will change the fact that that particular event starts - but would be happy to be proven wrong.
This is the line:
One of these events can kick off at any given moment while in Freemode, and you can customize your session to decide exactly which ones will happen – so you can play as much or as little of this new content as you like.
I took that to you being able to decide which events would be 'scheduled' in a given lobby, but I think it is simply which ones you are told about.
I don't think the 12 minute thing is too bad - you also add in the advance notice you get and the time to change your vehicle etc.
The Kill List one we did was pretty poor - this is the description:
Kill List
Get to the (armoured) vehicle with a set number of players and kill waves of enemies. Comes in Competitive variation where you go head-to-head with other player vehicles.
It seems as though there should have been other vehicles for people to use as well - seems pointless to only have one helicopter for 4 people available. Even then, since it was the buzzard it wasn't actually fun as you can't really aim the cannon.
The stoppie challenge was actually good - particularly given how unenthusiastic we were about it before it started! I kinda think it would be better if you gathered together somewhere to attempt these - just to make them feel more social / competitive...but then I guess this wouldn't work for some of them (such as jumps) and you should have freedom to try and achieve them anywhere.
Hunting Pack was good - but doesn't seem particularly well thought out. I don't see why the target can't change each time, so you are not just repeating the same route everytime. Also, it really should switch over who drives the vehicle between rounds.
Overall I am looking forward to trying the all the new modes - but I think you should be able to trigger them yourselves as well. Given the random nature in which they come up, it could be an hour or two before Hunt the Beast comes up, for example. Obviously only one person can be the beast, so it could be days before you even get the chance to try it out! Also, am pretty sure once you try a mode like that, you are going to want to do it right away again!
Lastly, trying them in public lobbies was a monumental waste of time!
