Sounds like a bit of classic psychological motivation to light a fire under Shaw's enormous arse.

Generally not a fan of managers throwing their players under the bus. Doesn't send a good message to the rest of the squad.
On the other hand if he is half-arsing things in training it is a shame and he needs to pull his thumb out of his ass and give it his all.
This is probably much ado over nothing and he'll be back in good shape next season.
Jose wants warriors. If Luke Shaw isn't willing to be one, Man Utd doesn't need players like that.

Liverpool would be interested in this I bet.
Not sure what anybody sees in him to be honest. For a LB, he offers zero attacking threat. But because he's young and English, he must be this world beater in the making? I think he was a terrible buy. A typical Moyes signing.
Bertrand and Rose are both better. To be honest, there's not much difference between him and the likes of Robertson/Cresswell either.
Shaw is cut from the same cloth as the likes of Smalling and Jones. Not good enough for the biggest team in the country. End of.
Please... Luke Shaw and the term "world class" has been used in the same sentence too many times on this forum. I bet the term has been used in this thread as well.Yeah because people really rate English players on this site.
Really don't like how Jose talks to the press about stuff like this.

I lose the bet then. But there have been too many times he has been termed "He was world class in those 8 matches" or "He was the best in the world those 8 matches"After a quick search no one in this thread has called Luke Shaw World Class.

I am pretty certain I will not find that as well.
It's so strange. He had the potential to be the best LB in the world, he even played world class in many games before. Now, he looks like a shell of the player he was.
Can only be put down to the leg break.
Ive never been confident of a player becoming world class than Luke Shaw before the leg injury. The potential he has is truly insane and if he recovers physically and mentally, sky is the limit.
I think you're forgetting just how good Shaw was before he joined us. He was the best leftback in the league and we have seen glimpses of they ability since joining us, albeit hampered by injuries.
And to think Shaw was thought to be the next Bale in terms of moving from the lb position into a winger in time... doesn't look all that likely now.
MUFC owe Shaw nothing. We are not a charity.
If Shaw isn't good enough to play for us (or for Spurs), he needs to be shifted to lower level team.
Agreed.
These players should at least get some game time (either on loan or in our reserves).
Shaw has spent 3 important years of his career, basically doing nothing.
All from the Luke Shaw thread. I assume that you ll not argue that many of the quotes used the word "Potential" and not talked in absolute terms.

No. No way is he World ClassAfter a quick search no one in this thread has called Luke Shaw World Class.
What does Mourinho mean by that? Is he suggesting Shaw needs to go out on loan?
I also didn't really understand what that meant
Me too. Honestly Joe Hart was someone I loved to hate. I used to believe he was insanely average to all the hype he got because English. The way the journo brought the fact he is an England international into the conversation and Jose mentioned Joe Hart. You wonder if a loan had been suggested to Luke and he wouldn't do it and now isn't giving his efforts on the training pitch either. I admire Joe Hart for what he is doing to be honest.
A lot of lads get leg breaks and if anything it makes them realise that a footballers career can be cut short at any time. It makes them work harder and be more hungry. Maybe Luke is the feeling sorry for himself type. Keeps bringing up that he broke his leg as an excuse. He has to put the effort in.I ll tend to believe the manager here. If Shaw is not showing commitment, he ll have to move on. Leg break or not, commitment levels can never be compromised. Ability can only take you this far. He is in one of the most prestigious clubs in England. He should be giving it all.
I think he will have. All the ones saying this should have been kept private. It likely has up to now and Jose have given up and has now gone public hoping to get a reaction. Think it is too late for Luke.Maybe he has had countless private talks with Luke but is now resorting to the nuclear option.
All 3 games or whatever it was?He was probably our best player in the season he got injured and was certainly an attacking threat.
However, I could excuse him any psychological issues this season, but if it is lack of effort as Jose says that's inexcusable.
Turning the fans against Luke, I see what Jose doing there.
