Who was in charge when he got that new contract?

He's the poster child for the rot in this club

Woodward no? And the Glazers (whoever actually cared to be there during contract negotiations). They where/are experts to give out contracts with fat wages to anyone who asked.

Essentially we’re going to let him go on a free from our perspective but it won’t be structured as such. £30m transfer fee, and wages of 200k a week or less at his new club, and we use that 30m to pay some part of the difference in wages till 2028 (in reality that 30m allows us to spend now, and the ongoing wage commitment is less than half if he stayed). How much exactly will be negotiated, but he needs a move too so he won’t hold out for 0 reduction in salary.

New club is getting a decent deal, and with lower wages like that he’s within reach for a lot more clubs (e.g. Aston Villa, West Ham, Newcastle…). England international, homegrown, and maybe with a change of scenery he can get back to an acceptable level, even if he doesn’t get back to his best.

I’m convinced he will move within the PL.
I'm hoping a Ligue 1 move for him. Change of scenery would do him good

For anyone still with any hope for this joker to become good, do you really think he could get back to performing at a decent level and most importantly, show that consistently for the remaining 3 years of his contract?

Not a chance. Therefore, get rid of him anyway how. Now.

Unfair but I would be more patient with Rashford if he wasn’t one of our highest paid players.

The money signaled our faith and trust in him to step up and lead this team.

He hasn’t held up his bit. And it’s not just the poor goal return.

- lack of effort
- little to no leadership on and off field
- off field drama / question marks about his focus.
- the contrived PR

I didn't know about the obligation. Yes I would say he is, Rashford only has his speed.

Define talented? Sancho probably has better control close dribbling and better final pass but Rashford has been more effective so far. Before he turned to what he is now, he was more direct and threatening with pace.

Yeah I never see that happening. I could totally see him going to Arsenal and having another purple patch, but he’ll never sustain it.

His biggest issue is he runs with his head down when he has the ball and just runs down blind alleys.
Alejandro is a better player for us on the left now.

The only time he'll put in some effort is 12 months before his contract is due to the expire.

The PR is endless with this man.

We are tired of hearing it Marcus, you are just not that good at football.

That 30 goal a season was more of a curse than a blessing, it was a one off and nothing suggest he will ever achieve it again.

That Ducker article contains some frankly bizarre excuses from (allegedly) inside the Rashford camp.

“I think one of the areas where other players have benefited is the quality of the chance,” one source close to Rashford told Telegraph Sport previously. “When you look at the goals Marcus scores, it’s never the same chance. Whereas if you use Mo Salah as an example, it tends to be the same type of chance because that’s something Liverpool have worked to. That’s what having a system in place and a plan gives you.”

On what planet is the quality of chance they’re getting the most obvious difference between Salah and Rashford?!?

 that's one hell of a reach, I think most people would argue that the main difference is Salah being a legendary PL player & Rashford being a regressing man child of a footballer but what do we know.

He's 27 for feck sake and he's been in the first team squad for what? 8 and a half years?

He's not a kid. It's like the shit we used to see with Lingard.

How is this PR? What is it's purpose?

Kid  hes almost a decade older than Yoro and Mainoo.

There are obviously lots of factors but he seems to surround himself with what, forgive me, seems like a group of muppets who are along for the ride and tell him what he wants rather than what he needs to hear. From the outside at least it looks like a very crap version of Entourage.

That’s the issue for me. He had 1x brilliant 6 month period but outside of that he’s been inconsistent.

If he ever hit another purple patch (which is unlikely) he has lost all trust that it can be maintained over a period.

Rooney, Ruud, Cantona, Cole…all had poor games and Barron spells, but they could be trusted to eventually hit and maintain form. Not just once, but repeatedly.

wow, absolutely shameless that quote

This highlights one of the biggest issues with Rashford, and several other players we've had at United. There's a lack of accountability. Rather than hold their hands up and admit they're not good enough, they pass the buck, or make excuses. It's never Rashfords fault, he's never deserving of criticism. It's bullying. He helped poor kids by giving them meals, so leave him alone. It's been going on for years.

Enough of the excuses, time to feck off

Interestingly, that’s exactly what Troy Deeney said about Rashford only a few days ago

“Everything is always everybody else's fault and his application stinks”

Do you think my post was 100% based on a quotes from today...as in nothing that has happened before could affect my opinion?
I don't know how any of this paints him in a positive light? Or gets anyone off his back....

Leaks are not PR. If this stuff is true it's just not a good look

Whoosh!

If only todays quotes were the first and last we heard about Marcus.

How does he train all week?

Rashford has always been one of these guys who gets exceptional levels of excuses made for him on the Caf.

If it isn't the back injury, it's his mental health or his confidence.

No other player gets the benefit of these arguments so prolificly presented in their defence.

Ducker's article literally quotes a "source close to Rashford's camp".

I don't think it is unreasonable to call it a PR brief by a struggling player trying to put the blame on others.

"His birth certificate says 27, but he should be treated like an 18 year old". Feck me, I'm 38 so I guess I will be happy to be treated like a 25 year old.

His back injury completely fecked him in 2020. His body can’t handle top level football anymore.
Ah the same excuses Rooney had rolled out for him when in reality he was sinking 6 cans a night and wondering why he was sluggish and suffered muscle injuries.

The club must better manage the players personal life? I mean, sure to a point we can help/advise but ffs, this isn’t a 17 year old breaking into the first team. Gosh.

I remember RVP saying that injury was way more severe than people realised and he might never be the same, but then he hit probably his best ever form 3 years later so I guess it didn't really ruin him that much. He's 27, we can't have the best paid player at the club being a whiny bitch talking about systems and offering up every excuse in the book like he does as if he's a teenager. Just sell him. He'll probably recover some form elsewhere and turn out a bargain for whoever gets him, who cares, its never going to happen for him here.
