Jesus f-ing Christ!

How long will we have to suffer now for all the joy we got in winning all those titles under Sir Alex? It's either a curse or the law of averages playing out. Incompetence aside, can't believe how unlucky we have been in these last XI years. :annoyed:

It could be a sprained ankle and they don't want him putting pressure on it, or it could be Mainoo-esque from last preseason. If it's that serious he'll probably be sent back to Manchester.

Could be a sprained ankle, or could be something broken. That video proves very little

Actually, if it were something really serious, would he not be in surgery instead of jumping around in a boot? Esp considering they are in LA, where they have some of the best sports orthopedic surgeons in the world...

When Mainoo had an ankle injury last summer he was sent back to Manchester I believe.

Could be, but if it were serious I would expect him either being operated upon (esp being in LA) or sent home, not jumping around in a boot.

Just saying the video doesnt explain if it is something very innocuous or quite serious

I saw you wrote the same, right before me, so we seem to agree

@Trex ,@NewGlory I agree it could be anything but it's a bit concerning that the club haven't said anything yet. Probably waiting for scans to determine? If he was substituted as a precaution I don't see the hesitation from the club to let everyone know.

In any case, I don't think he's going to be ready to start the season at the very least which is a shame.

Hopefully that boot just looks like it’s for compression and stability - possibly just a sprained ankle that will take a few weeks to fully heal.

Unlikely he will participate in any games now for a few weeks but if he is staying with the squad then that’s a good sign.

I agree with this, it seems that the boot and crutches are to ensure no weight or pressure on ancle/foot, it could be anything from sprained ancle to torn muscle/ligaments to fractured/broken bone, but if it was serious they would have either sent him to a specialist in LA or sent him straight back to Manchester

Only a matter of time until Martinez gets an injury. Guess that’s Maguire and Lindelof starting again.

Why stop there? Maguire could get injured too and Lindelof sprain and ankle after 10 mins and it may be Fish and Casemiro at CB.

So much for the fanfare. At least he didn't drop off the face of the earth, like Malacia. Yet.

Didn’t we send Mainoo home from the tour last year when he picked up his injury given the severity? The fact he’s sticking around hopefully means it’s not a big one.

Still hope Ineos are doing some investigating into these constant injuries. I don't trust ETH's training sessions.

We've had some bad luck with the new signings.
  • Onana got lobbed from 40 meters in a meaningless friendly with Lens, and for the rest of the season, he never took that position up high. I don't know if that shook his confidence so much, that he was never the same over the course of the season
  • Hojlund came in from Atalanta with a back problem, took him a while to get going. When he did start scoring regularly, he pulled his hamstring. He had started scoring again, when he got another injury or it was some flu.
  • Mount has never had a season in his career where he has been injured for so many games as last season, injury after injury
  • Martinez foot did not healed properly after his injury v Sevilla, so he had to operate on the same foot again. As soon as he was back, Coufal fell on his knee
  • Yoro, a young player that you would hope would had seamless start of his United, without injuries or drop of form for his own confidence
Even Mainoo, freakishly injured by Casemiro in a preseason friendly, half a season gone.

Hopefully, it's nothing major with Yoro. Based on what people close to Lille were saying about him, he seems like a strong character mentally, and I hope he will be back as soon as possible.

Yeah as bad as were at times last season, we were also freakishly unlucky.

The number of long term injuries we had plus the number of awful, awful refereeing decisions means that even if we'd kept the same squad from last season we could expect 9pts+ extra with only "average" luck...and that would probably give us top four.

No wonder they keep all the players some fans think are deadwood. They end up playing more games than the preferred starters. But last season we had injuries on all levels. One game we had zero fit CBs and it didn’t look much for LB.

I wouldn't read too much into that. Yoro is new to the club so they could feel it's still useful to have him with his new teammates.

My big fear was/is that it’s something to do with his Achilles. Does the moon boot suggest ankle rather than that?

They both got injured playing in a match, in pre season. Yoro's seems to be an impact injury of some kind. Not sure how either of these can be anything other than bad luck

I bet Maguire and Lindelof are injuring the other CBs, so they can stick around. (Joking, or am I?)

Need to buy more defenders and hope they don’t get injured

Shittery shit

If he was not fit and yet he was played then entire medical staff and ETH should get fired asap.

Achilles is a painful one, he would've gone down like shot with a sniper, and it usually happens with older players due to accumulated workload. It looks like some twist/strain on the ankle. God Forbid, it's some minor bone fracture to one of the smaller bones in the foot.

Good to hear!

Have a reliable source who has confirned it's actually syphilis and the cover is to hide the rash marks. That's why the club has chosen to remain silent as well.

CAM boot and made non weight bearing doesn’t necessarily mean a nasty injury, assuming no fractures or midfoot ligamentous injuries. I couldn’t find the clip of the injury but read multiple sources describing it as an inversion injury. Usually with sprains a cast/boot is placed for 5-14 days depending on pain levels and examination and then are started on physical therapy regimens for about 4-6 weeks. Now if the clubs opt to do an MRI early (in practice usually it is not done early) there may be reports that he has a ligamentous tear/injury which is expected with almost all sprain ankles.

He might have been just not match fit so could have been brought off second half possibly, pre season games are to get players upto fitness you can't go into them wondering who might get injured from playing football.

US friendly strikes again. Maino was out for half season.
Can Glazers just feck off

I doubt it, he'll miss a few games, not half the season.
Average in the Bundesliga for that was 106 days about 8 years ago. Ito, Bayern's new defender from Stuttgart has the same, that is why I looked for that. There is a page about Bundesliga injuries that collected the data from the type of injuries and the time injured for some years!

Fabrizio just posted:

" OFFICIAL: Manchester United confirm Leny Yoro is out for three months with a foot injury."

Three fecking months, for feck's sake. This club is cursed

So that’s 9 games. Which is bad but my worry is more it not really being 3 months and how it affects him when he returns. Will he come back from injury like Mainoo did last year or hover around the fringes struggling to regain his usual level. That is more important than 3 months given he’s signed for the long term.
