To be fair LvG wanted to address that position with Anderson/Mane but the Ed/Galzers bungled the deals.

ähhm, yeah. Hummels was in his last year, too. Dont know for what this comparism is about. Both were important players to us, both are in their last year. Both sold to clubs that are full of money. Surely that would be countered by the fact that Micky is also a more attacking player. They usually cost more.
So that probably makes up for that non rival discount.
He's a lot quicker, a lot more physical, very two footed (as opposed to Mata who is terribly weak on his right) and had his best ever season on the right. Mata always looks more like a glorified second-striker with a very nice first touch than a true option for a winger.
I think it's odd if it is like that for you guys. Bayern is the only team apart from you that can challenge for the title. Selling your captain or important first team player weakens you and strengthens your main(only) rival. It would make sense to always ask premium due to that.
But then you can argue back that Hummels was the captain and given that he's German in a German club, his value would make sense for it to be high.

Why would they? The new TV deal brought a shit load of money into the PL. Every club from any other league knows that so all PL clubs pay a premium for players from now on.

Hummels got a lot of weaknesses. And his stupid speeches getting on the nerves of a lot of people. Tuchel never complained about that Hummels is leaving, for reasons. Getting Bartra is fantastic! Everybbody is fine with that. We got a record fee for all the reasons, so this is the "premium" you are asking for.
Shakhtar bought him off a rival. He struggled in his first season there, despite playing in the same league. Dortmund is not a club like United that would need immediate success. He struggled there in his first season for about 5-6 months. He then had an awful second season and picked up last season.
United need immediate success, especially with Mourinho at helm. We probably won't have the time to bed him in. Mkhitaryan is a player that needs support all throughout. If he has a bad season in Depay's mold which is a good possibility his confidence will be shot down.
With Mhiki and Zlatan coming here, I think that we will have the oldest squad ever. If we get Pogba too (who is now 26 and has no resale value), we should better get called as the pensioners.

I think some people are still stuck on their first impression of Hummels 3-4 years ago where he was already on this level and supposed at the time had more height to reach, come his prime. 3-4 years passed, he is still on the same level (or even regresses) from assessment of Dortmund and Bundesliga fans, and now proven big mouth hypocrite. Not a pleasing signing for Bayern consider the options they already have/ are able to obtain.
