Dembele was approached/bought while Mkhitaryan was still leading the club to believe that there was a very good chance that he was going to extend his contract. So I doubt they plan with him as a direct replacement.

Well they best find one then.

Maybe I am just scarred, but something still feels fishy about all this "he wants to go to United" thing while a team wants him to sign a new deal

Could Emre Mor be his replacement? I am fairly certain that if this is concluded now in June Dortmund are very capable of finding a quality replacement, and probably have some money left also.

Managers take their staff around because it's a team of their choosing who they are used to work with, not sure what this has to do with agents.

I've rarely seen loan canceled mid season because a manager got fired.

If Raiola doesn't respect contracts then Dortmund won't be trying to sign any of his players in the future, because why invest money and time into someone when you have to expect him to force his way out after his first good season?

United's problems don't stem from "super agents". Those guys don't make up for bad scouting.

And besides, have you actually looked at Raiola's client list?
http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mino-raiola/beraterfirma/berater/28 how can a club survive without access to these elite players?

Raiola is an agent and he's one of the best in his role. If Dortmund doesn't want to deal with him then he will move his players elsewhere as he always did throughout the years. Juventus was pissed off with him for the Ibra affair. Guess what? They still dealt with him regarding Pogba and they landed one of the best midfielders in the world for free. Imagine what would have happened if they decided to fight for the moral ground here. Ah yeah, they would have lost the chance of signing/keeping a 60m rated midfielder. We know the feeling.

Also these agents tend to work with one another or at least have direct contacts to one another. For example Mendes tend to facilitate the transfers of players who are not represented by him. If words spread that you're a difficult club then it will become difficult for you to attract talent. As said, we know the feeling.

Dont think I am defending this bullying because I am not. However I am realistic enough to acknowledge it. So unless you dont want to keep losing players on free + it becomes difficult to sign the talent you want (Hazard, Moura etc) then you better adapt. Hopefully we will bulge a little and you will bulge a little and this will end up well.

He is not haggling for a new contract. He already said he wont extend his current contract. His agent has outrightly spoken about his client's intention to surely leave the club preferably this summer or latest by next summer.

Its probably legit, but players and agents say a lot of things.

For up to €40M and at age 27, is this guy really the best option for our RW/wide forward/#10 needs? What makes you all so convinced? I thought he had consistency issues and that he was somewhat mentally weak? Let's not forget that Kagawa also won Bundesliga POTY before coming here.

Would have done better if he was utilized to his strengths instead of playing in unnatural positions.

You're talking as if he is 33 and we are paying that much for him. Firstly I doubt we will pay more than £30m. Secondly he was quite ordinary his first two seasons at Dortmund but last season he scored 23 and assisted a further 32 goals. Kagawa didn't even come close to those numbers. Im slowing warming up to the idea of us signing him.

€40m for 5 years of a good player is not huge money anymore.

Kagawa was overrated by footballing hipsters.

I don't get it. Some say we lack experience and we rely on young players too much. So when we try to buy one of the best players in Europe last season for an amazing price people object against it? Yeah he is 27, so what? This time next month so will Bale be yet everyone wants Bale (who is more reliant on his pace than Mkhitaryan and therefore his decline is more likely to be quicker than Mkhitaryan's).

Since when did 27 become old? The best teams buy players about to enter their peak and who are in the peak. Barca did that with Suarez and now they have the best striker in the world. Lewa is also 27, and if we had the chance I am sure very few would object it. We cannot simply rely on young players alone, what's the harm in buying a player who had one of the best seasons of anyone in Europe last season at his peak for a great price? Especially when he wants to come here, above other options?

This isn't a ruse. Dortmund were the first to announce he isn't signing a new deal. He clearly wants to come.

Raiola: Mkhitaryan wants to go to Manchester United

If this is true, I don't know what BVB are trying to achieve. Ok, because a player is trying to force a move you look like the "righteous" and "dignified" people being betrayed. So what you then go and do is dig your heels in, probably bench him for the season, then achieve nothing when he leaves for free.:wenger:

If all of this is true, if he really wants to join Jose at MUFC and Jose wants him, just sell him to us at an inflated price and re-invest the money. It's just business. Loyalty is a laughable prospect in football. Make as much money as you can for your club and move on.

This faux-loyalty is infuriating. We turned De Gea into the best keeper in the world, at the end of the day, a broken fax is the only reason he's still at our club. Bring in the best players you can, sell the players you don't want/want to leave for the best price and move on.

I'm born in Sweden and I identify myself as a Swede and Armenian. He might identify himself as Italian, but ethnicity is inevitable

Is he actually Armenian ? His Dad's name is Giovanni, so if indeed he is Armenian it must be from several generations back.

Of course not. For all of Dembele's talent the Mkhitaryan of last season was on a different level. No way Dembele, coming to a new league, would instantly replace him one to one.

If you google 'Matteo Darmian Armenia' the first link that comes up is 'I am not Armenian - Darmian'. :D

26/27 is the best age for a footballer where most of them are at their prime. Wouldn't mind buying any player at this age and most players, unless Brazilian, can actually play at a very high level until their are at least 32.

I reckon this is what will happen in the end. With Lewa it was slightly different as Bayern never made a formal bid for him because they weren't willing to pay the 35M € that Dortmund asked of them, as a new striker wasn't their most important concern and they knew they had him in the bag for next season, so why pay that money then? Of course if we are willing to offer a lot of money I can see them seeing reason and letting him go despite their current statement. At least I hope they will.

Dembélé is going to boss that mickey mouse league.:D

He says we are still talking to Dortmund. More convicted this will happen for circa
€35m.

An Arsenal fan i've been told. Not that it means much.

Not sure if I believe that given Raiola's comments that he wants to join us. If he were an Arsenal fan and had a chance to join them and play for them in the CL, then surely he would be pining to join them.

If he legitimately wants to join us then he's as good as ours. The only catch will be for us to meet Dortmund's grievance fee that they are selling him without actually wanting or needing to sell him.

Competition for places is less here and we pay better. Also Mou > Wenger and Raiola has a better relationship with Mou. Wenger aint going to pay £30m for a player on the last year of his contract. But can't wait for Wenger to come out next season and say he had a chance to sign him this summer but passed.

According to @The Purist, Wenger refuses to deal with agents like Rioala. So no interest in Ibrahimovic or Mkhitaryan

Alot of the Liverpool players over the years were Everton fans a kids.

Also Welbeck didn't have any problems against us.
