Genuinely baffled at Juventus's decision to sell their biggest asset, one of world's most coveted players, for a world record transfer fee only to then spend pretty much all of it on a 28 year old striker who is known to be a bottler in the biggest moments of his career. If I was a Juventus fan I'd be pissed off.

It's not really, when you consider his goal record, a pretty safe bet. He doesn't really really on pace too, so growing older shouldn't really be a problem.

If I factor in the wages Higuain will be on, he will probably cost them 35 Mil. € per season in the next four years. Securing them the title they have won many times in the row now is not enough to justify spending this. He has to win them the CL.

Juventus Turin is not United or Real, who can spend that kind of money without much worry because of their massive revenues. Juve actually has to keep an eye on their finances. They are actually in terms of finances not far off from us and we basically bought all our new players, including two German Internationals, two European top talents and an European Champion, for the same amount of what they are about to spend on a single 28 year old player. It´s completely bonkers.

He wanted to leave

i love how some on /r/soccer are acting like this has little impact on pogba.

JUVE JUST TIED RONALDO's TRANSFER FEE!! Higuain is now going to be tied 2nd for largest transfer in world football.

OF COURSE this is pogba related :lol:

Imagine how Ronaldo feels...

Reminds me of Tyrone Biggums $450,000 crack party. Of course the money is coming from Pogba sale.

...who is known to be a bottler in the biggest moments of his career...

With Argentina though.
A lot of big players hasn't reach their club level with their national team... including Messi.
But of course this doesn't mean that Messi is an average player.
Higuain is an insane striker, at 28 years old he's probably at the peak of his career and I'm sure that him and Dybala will form one of the best attacking duos in Europe.
Of course it probably means that Pogba is leaving (unless a miracle happens!), and as a Juve fan I'm sorry of this... I always thought that he was going to stay...
Shame because we're definitely building a strong team.

I wonder if you'd have had this opinion of Higuain yesterday.

Of course! He scored 36 in the last Serie A! That's simply insane.
I would never have imagined that we could have signed him.
If Pogba stays (but he isn't :D) we would really have a dream team.

I kind of agree with him here, Higuain has something rare and it's consistency. As long as you feed him he will deliver but it's also true that he isn't going to win you a game by himself, he needs a creative team behind him.

Ronaldo and Messi level players must be worth more than €150m in todays market.

Scores goals everywhere he goes, will always look back to the World Cup final moment doesn't mean he isn't a class player. Some could say Pogba bottled it in the Euro final but here we are paying a world record fee for him.

Higuain is a fantastic striker, especially in the Serie A. His transfer fee is exorbitant though, and the money Pogba is earning should have been invested more wisely.

Surprised by this. Juve have been very successful in the past few years with very intelligent work in the transfer market. This seems like a statement purchase to make up for losing Pogba (assuming he goes)

Amazing but he's been a goal machine in Serie A.

Without getting into could Juve afford this without selling Pogba, I wonder if he does leave how will he react if Juve get far into the champions league or even win it.

If the standards of last year is anything to go by, a bunch of teams are capable inc Juve.

I might be biased but while I rate Higuain, Lacazette was a better alternative particularly money-wise.

Not entirely sure if it's a footballing over money choice.. More likely an "I'm living in Italy and anywhere else a step down" kind of choice.. Let's be honest - a bit of money and Italy.. Perfection.

Then again..

At Juve he will win titles, he'll be guaranteed in the CL, he knows he is the best striker in Serie A, with Juve players behind him he'll score even more than at Napoli. Much better prospect than going to Arsenal or Liverpool. He is 29, he got to think about the coming 3 or 4 years as his last in football, 3 or 4 titles with Juve and an outside chance on a CL win is the best he could hope for. He'll be paid alot but I think it isn't the most important factor at all in this. After his years at Juve, he can still go the MLS or China for a big payday but his chance for titles that is only now nd only at Juve.

How on earth can you pay 100m for a 28 year old (29 in december) unless it's Messi or Ronaldo at that age. At least if we pay that for pogba we've a player yet to hit his peak in theory. A striker of his bulk won't do much after 31 or so at the very top in my opinion.

It's that Andy Carrol- Fernando Torres logic. Basically he's only going to cost them €20-30m. Lol

That's an insane fee for a soon to be 29 year old striker with little to no resale value. Especially one who really isn't that great a player.

Juventus will walk the league with or without him, and I can't see him making the difference in the CL. Strange deal.

These bottles of Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon 1992 was sold as the most expensive bottle ever.

The Bottle that is Higuain 2016 has dwarfed that.
:D

Juve must really want to win the Champions league. Crazy amount to pay for Higuain.

100m for Huguain... its mad mad world..
I start to worry whether 120m is enough to get Pogba from them...

I understand Juve's thinking

-They can't keep onto to Pogba, they will lose him either to us or to Real and they can get a very big payday (world record fee)
-They lost Moratta to real for €30m, they used the money to buy a replacement for Pogba in Pjanic
-They have strenghtend the team with further cheap transfers like Benatia, Alves and Pjaca and don't really need anything anymore beside a replacement for Moratta
-Higuain is the best striker in the serie A and the best player of their biggest rival for the title Napoli
-Paying Higuains release clause is the only way to get him because Napoli just won't sell him for any lower price
-They can afford it because of Pogba money, they get the best striker in Italy to play next to the second best striker in Italy (Dybala) in front of the best team Italy (Pogba or no Pogba makes no difference) and they severly weaken their most important rival, theleague will be wrapped up by X-mas and that might be the case for the coming years

Only risk they take is that they give alot of money to Napoli, if they blow away that money to stupid players than Juve have nothing to fear, if they strenghten wisely and get 3 or 4 good players for that cash they might become better than if they kept Higuain. Problem for Napoli is they can't attract such players, even if they have the cash, it is hard for them to increase the wage structure which makes it impossible to sign the big stars and if you don't sign the big stars it is hard to find those ones that can become big stars.

This is a fantastic deal for all parties involved.

I can completely understand why Juve is going for him, right now in Europe you maybe have 3 elite level strikers that are available. Higuain, Aubameyang and Cavani and Juve have lost Morata and potentially Pogba whilst those two have the ability to win games Higuain is a guranteed match winner with an insane amount of goals. They are making a massive upgrade here.

The fee is high but so are the steaks. Buying from a rival to ensure you keep winning carries a premium and they have a ot of cash. Napoli will now have an incredible amount of money to improve and I think they will buy some big players.

Juve reinvesting the Pogba fee madrid will pay them smartly.

Also people saying hes 28.....those are prime years. Mhiki is 27 is he past it? No way. This isnt FIFA people.

Crazy. He's good but not that good. Poor Mandža, he'll have to move on again.

Keeping Pogba was never an option if he wants to go, you can't keep him, Juve just try to get as much money as possible as compensation but if United weren't going to put 120m on the table he would have been gone for 80m or so to Real, they just can't keep a player who wants to leave.

Now with the money there is basically 3 things they can do:
- Let it burn a hole in their bank account, useless option, they are financially very healthy, they need to invest

-They can use the money to buy several lower profile players, they simply don't need several lower profile players, they have a very complete team, with a strong spine, they even already have a replacement for Pogba with Pjanic, only thing they really have is a vacancy upfront for a striker because they lost Moratta. So they don't need and probably can't adequatley strenghten the team by using the cash to buy several players, they don't need them, and they aren't really out there either. It would be spurs wasting the €100m from Bale all over again.

-They can use the money to fund 1 really big important transfer. It seems Higuain was the best one they can get. Not hard to see why, he has been an alsmost 40 goals a season striker in Italy and if they get him, they weaken also one of their most important rivals Napoli. So They get the best replcement for Moratta they can get and yes they overpay for Higuain but out of all the options it will likley be the ones that benefits them the most, because they don't need half another team, they need worldclass players, Higuain was available, €94m was his price tag, Juve can afford it because they sold Pogba for even more cash.

And Higuain + Dybala that is a striking duo that can be very strong for the coming years, league is even more won for them in the coming years then it already was and this gives them a good chance for a CL win aswell

ohh well, at least we wont be the most retarded club in the world when we sign Pogba for 100m.....we can always point at Juventus:lol::lol::lol:
The feck is happening with football!? Biggest bottler in football history is worth 100m!? He wont help them one bit in Europe, in fact he oinly makes them weaker as he will bottle in the critical moment and they are champions in italy with or without him.
One more time, Juventus:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Lacazette would cost roughly half of Higuain... just boggles the mind.

Always held Higuain in the same sort of regard as Cavani. They're both solid strikers, but nothing world class about them. Did not want to see us to spend big money on either of them at any point in the last 5 seasons.

Would I even trade Rooney for Higuain? Probably not.

Does it? Higuain is a big game bottler, especially finals!
