Lukaku isn't as good as Higuain. Not even close.

I don't think there's much in it. Lukaku is mediocre but he's a lot younger and scoring goals in a much better league.

ohh well, at least we wont be the most retarded club in the world when we sign Pogba for 100m.....we can always point at Juventus:lol::lol::lol:
The feck is happening with football!? Biggest bottler in football history is worth 100m!? He wont help them one bit in Europe, in fact he oinly makes them weaker as he will bottle in the critical moment and they are champions in italy with or without him.
One more time, Juventus:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
:nervous::nervous::nervous::nervous::nervous::nervous::nervous::nervous:

I think a few key moments are clouding people's opinions of Higuain. He's as sure a bet for goals as you will find in this market.
He was in insane form last season. 38 games goals in serie A is no easy feat.

Lacazette would cost roughly half of Higuain... just boggles the mind.

Always held Higuain in the same sort of regard as Cavani. They're both solid strikers, but nothing world class about them. Did not want to see us to spend big money on either of them at any point in the last 5 seasons.

Would I even trade Rooney for Higuain? Probably not.

Nah i would still take Higuain over Rooney in a straight swap.

Lukaku while being a fairly consistent goal scorer, the highest he's ever gotten is 17.
Not to even talk about the glaring deficiencies in Lukaku's game.
Higuain, although he's been guilty of missing chances in big finals with Argentina, there's no weakness in his game.
Scored goals in Spain, went up a level in Italy. A leagu that doesn't have a history of strikers scoring lots of goals.
I personally don't think it's a debate.

Tbf strikers are hard to find who guarantee goals like Higuain. But its an insane amount of money for someone who isn't going to fetch much if resold and has a reputation of being a big game bottler. Serie A is already in the bag and if conquering CL is the objective, then this doesn't look like the smartest piece of business. However, Juve are going to be very strong regardless.

Wait why are people saying this is most expensive deal in history? It's 94 million euros? That makes it £78million? Under Ronaldo?

Why didn't they get Lacazette? He's potentially better, younger and would cost half as much

Then you are utterly stupid

Underating of Higuain on here is criminal

The guy has been a solid 30+ goalscorer a season for his entire career, last season even 38 goals in 42 games and people call him a bottler and worse than Rooney, the mind boggles

Ow and the season before that 29 goals and 11 assists

Season before that 24 goals and 12 assists

Those are worldclass stats, only the very best reach those numbers. He is on the level of Aguero or Auba, not Lacazette or Lukaku, jezus...

If you offered a striker that pretty much guarantees 30+goals a season for €100m. I think a fair number of people would pay it.
Goals are hard to come by in this day and age.

What part you dont agree?
Pogba not worth 100m?
Higuain not worth 100m?
Higuian biggest bottler in football history?
You winning the league without Higuain?

I agree with everything you said mate, that's why "nervous" smilie.

It's 94m euros by the way.

I don't think it's just key moments. If memory serves, his record in European competitions isn't very impressive either.

Surely Juventus want more than just a domestic striker? They have the league wrapped up already.

Money is crazy but he'll easily provide them with about 20 additional goals per season.

Manchester United -> Juventus -> Napoli :: Chelsea -> Liverpool -> Newcastle.

I can see the similarities.

Football has gone mad but in a way it is not a bad deal for Juve. They got Pogba for free and are selling him for around 100million - 20 more than they will pay for one of the most prolific goalscorers in world football. Slate Higuain all you want but he does hit the net a lot.

Higuain is simply a better player than Lukaku.
However he is not the player to bring Juve to the next level but rather one who can help them maintain their current level if Pogba leaves.

This is a staggering amount of money--especially for Serial A. Even in the Premier League with the inflation due to the new TV deal this would be over the top.

Some of these posts rationalize it a bit, but it's still hard for me to comprehend how Juventus would manage a deal of this scale. If these numbers are true, I'm a long, long way away from understanding the transfer market. What would it cost United in the next three years if they went for a world class striker in his mid-20s?!

They are making up for the 20 goals they are going to lose with both Morata and Pogba gone. In addition, they weaken their closest competitors for the title and get one of the very few genuine goal scorers in world football to make a CL challenge. Insane amount, but makes sense for them.

Jeez, as a mid 40''s guy it makes you wonder how much the likes of Marco Van Basten would have been worth.

The world has gone crazy. This makes the potential Pogba deal look positively conservative.

And again Juve are in a position where they can splash out on a key play if hey have the money.
Look at their team, top players everywhere. It's not like they have several holes to fill in the squad.
If you have €120m, why not splash it out in a key player rather than buying several players.

The overreacting here is ridiculous. Yeah, he's overpriced, but it's a very good transfer for Juventus.

They are getting one of the best strikers in the world from one of their main rivals. Also he's the best player that they can realistically sign and they have the money to do it, usually top players don't want to play in Serie A.

And :lol::lol: at comparing him to Lukaku...

Higuain is terribly underrated in this forum. He's always been a world class finisher , consistently hitting 20+ goals a season wherever he goes. Breaking records in serie A is a fantastic achievement, 36 goals in the league FFS.

He's a much better striker than Lusaku and considerably improves Juve.

Those 'key moments' cost his nation at least one major trophy. I agree he's probably underrated by most PL viewers, but he's not worth Ronaldo money, and let's not beat around the bush; he's a big game bottler since his RM days.

It's a good move for Juve. Look we know they are not the most ethical team going - but they'll play some good stuff and score goals and win Serie A. Good for them.

and we also sold a striker for 30m € this season.

I forgot this. Do you think after higuain you guys will be complete for transfers? The fans over in juventuz seem to want James..

They would win Serie A without Higuain as well.....they wasted 100m plain and simple. Wont help them in CL and he will tear the league apart just like he was in Napoli but they didnt need help there. He was never world class and he will never be world class, scoring shit loads of goals doesnt make you a world class player, specially when you score them in a piss poor league.
It would be better for them to splash that money on 3 top talents and hope they strike another Dybala. Worst case scenario, at least they would have hope for a certain amount of time.

This transfer is verging on suspicious, has every team just given up negotiating? It's not even a question of supply being severely less than demand.

The only way it makes sense is if someone asked how can Juventus guarantee a league win next season? Sign the opposition's best player. But then it's very shortsighted and their chances of winning the league are massive without him.

Do they even need him. They will win the league anyway and I dont think he will give them the edge in Europe.

I'm being diplomatic but let's not forget, they have bought other new players.......much falls on their shoulders also..

He would be great signing for Juventus. You can bet your house that he can easily get them 25 goals at least in Serie A. Combine with Dybala they might got their weapon in Europe which I believe is their objective. The fee may seems absurd at this time, but if Higuain flop, we know that Juve also can recoup most of the fee when they sold him to China.
