Gary Neville

Setting aside the fact he actually has 4 goals and 3 assists. How many goals and assists should he have by November for him to be allowed to go to a Basketball game?

Out of interest with his current stats, what sort of public entertainment should he allowed to attend in his spare time? Game of Cricket? Meal at a restaurent ? Surely he can go to the Cinema?

Or should all his free time be just sat in a darkened room, no TV, no Music, with steepled fingers concentrating on improving his performances?

Nah, he should be made stay and home and watch videos of his performances for the last few years on repeat. Clockwork Orange style.

That'll learn him.

Contradicting myself here. I generally like Gary. His analysis is good and he does talk truths IMO. He was banging the drum about ownership and structure years before INEOS landed

Where I struggle with him…and it’s highlighted more in the overlap…he’ll share his opinion, Keane, Carra and Wright might disagree and then he spends the next 10 minutes trying to convince them to change their minds and come round to his way of thinking. He can’t accept that others might have different opinions.

Do you not see the difference in going to a basketball or acting the superstar when you’re not. I love rashford, him and Bruno are my two favourite players but bringing up and doing silly poses while in America points towards him thinking he’s better or more of a start than he thinks he is in my opinion and he should just knuckle down and regain some form

Super annoying. That's why I never watch anything when Gary is on anymore. It's always about him.

For once I actually agree with what he said about Rashford, Casemiro is a different story he went away with his family. But Rashford going to a basketball game, dressed like the big time after he has stank the place out of it for the past 18 months screamed everything that’s wrong with modern day football.
That wasn’t really my point.

Surprised he’s being criticised for his comments on Rashford and Casemiro, he’s coming at it from what was acceptable in his day and what good looks like from his perspective, and he’s absolutely right. If we were playing well it would be fine but given how we’re performing and change in manager, it was an odd decision.

Neville is criticised on here when he doesn’t say anything about certain players and now being criticised when he does. Weird.

I thought Amorim answered the question very well in fairness too.

I'll preface this by saying I haven't actually seen any pictures or videos of Rashford at this basketball game, I don't know what he was wearing or how he was acting. But what should he have been wearing and how should he have acted on this trip? Can you give me a breakdown of appropriate attire for a guy in his current form?

If people were criticizing the fact he flew to America while he should have been resting and might suffer some jetlag then fair enough. But it's the usual old guff about clothes and how they're acting. Comes across as old men shouting at clouds. While from what I've seen how the likes of Lingard, Pogba, Sancho and Rashford etc dress and act, it wouldn't be my cup of tea. But I also genuinely couldn't give a feck how they dress or act as I doubt it has any real bearing on their performances on the pitch. Lots of young footballers have questionable fashion sense, it comes from having too much money and time on their hands.

In reply to what I’ve underlined, some footballers become stars because they are the best at what they do, some footballers want to be stars because they play football.

I always wanted rashford to be a star because of how well he played football, sadly he’s becoming more tc23 than cr7. Hopefully he can regain some form and his international place back.

Think Amorim dealt with the question fairly.

He speaks well and says the right things. It'll be interesting to see if he can command the respect of the players. That's what will make or break him at Utd.

In his day they were all out on the piss on a regular basis

Not sure how this answers my question, every kid who dreams of becoming a footballer wants to be a star. You say that like it's a bad thing.

And besides Rashford is a already star, he has been for years, he's a world famous footballer, plays for one of the worlds biggest clubs and is an International for one of the worlds stronger sides.

Circling back our players could all turn upto their local Bingo hall this monday night wearing a Mr Blooby suit, I still don't imagine the clothes they wear have much affect on their performance levels. I've not been following this discussion until today so I've no idea why people are getting themselves worked up about it.

I was counting his Prem goals.

He is playing like absolute sh1te. The fact he gets subbed off on 60 mins in most games, says it all.

He should be fully focused on football, especially with a new manager inbound. Instead, he flys off to the US risking not being 100% for the managers first week. To me, that shows where his priority is.

What public event should he attend? The way he is player, perhaps a game of darts at his local working mans club. That is his level right now.

I was wondering the same!

Yeah I assumed you were only counting his PL goals to make his stats worse.

I assume you have a scale of events/activities you think players should be allowed to attend based on their form.

4 Goals by November = Darts.
8 goals = ?
12 goals = ?
16 goals = ?

You are free to include his 2 goals in a 7-0 win against Barnsley if you want to pad out his stats!

Rashford is free to attend what ever sporting event he wants. But maybe he should leave after two thirds of the game, as he gets hooked after 60 mins of each United game.

I got no time for a guy like Rashford, who has been shocking for a year and a half now, flying to NYC to attend a basketball game, dripping in jewelry and acting like the big I am. Asking for autographs from Jalen Brunson - now that guy performs game in, game out.

The guy can't even get near the England team anymore. He is not even in the conversation. Is there no shame there? No shame that he can't even get into a Nations League squad?

Maybe he should be working to get back to a decent level of form, especially with a new manager inbound. But no, he decides to go to NYC, knowing he will be in all the papers and get a bunch of criticism for it and give the impression to his new manager that his full focus isnt on his game. To me, that shows he doesn't give a sh1t anymore. He is going down the same route as his mates Sancho and Lingard.

I don't give a shit what players wear or where they go on off days. Tbh, I really don't see anything wrong with that Rashford's attire. He can wear anything that he's comfortable with, as long as it's not vulgar or offensive.

But, as a fan, I do prefer if players showing more enthusiasm and care on the team especially with the new manager is just starting to implement a new system. Especially the likes of Rashford that has been out of form.

But I come to term that these days, young people always prefer that "life - work balance" which often in conflict with values older generation have.
