Gary Neville

We've a squad full of big time Charlies giving it loads everywhere except where it counts.

What makes it worse you can't criticise them for this because it'll offend the snowflakes.

Gary Neville on Sky seems to me to be a kind of Uncle Tom character who takes an overly critical stance on United as much as he can.

These leads to Liverpool, City fans et al wheeling out the line 'even Gary Neville said....'

It's pathetic. You are not a big baller if you can't get in an England squad ahead of Jarred Bowen or Noni Madueke.

Tom Aspinall thought he was Souljaboy

If you want to be a meme and squander your potential then go for it but if you want to actually win league titles then grow up and treat your career as your priority. It is really not hard to understand but obviously you want to clutch your pearls and imply people have agendas for criticizing players who are not performing.

How are his clothes holding him back?

Whether you agree with him or not, I really don’t see why he feel the needs to exacerbate things. He passionately exclaims how upset he is with the current state of United, and I really don’t think adding to the negative press helps at all. There’s plenty out there already.

I am not upset about gary’s questions. Manager used Gary’s question to show his authority with the team, without putting the players down. Whether likes of Rashford and casemiro accept his authority is a different issue.

Yeah Gary doesn't mind where his money comes from...if you pay him enough he'll say anything.

I'm not subscribed to MUTV so can't comment on that, but as a general rule if Gary is on commentary then I'm changing streams.

Obvously you think that former United players cant be critical and tell the truth about the sh1t show we have witnessed over the last 10+ years.

Neville is one of the only former players (or managers) that have come out and been critical towards The Glazers. As he said, they have ownerseen "10 years of mediocrity".

Much rather have someone like Neville out there speaking the truth about The Glazers than what SAF did. He took their money for years and said nothing as he watched the club he loved get run into the ground.

Did he exacerbate the Rashford point or do you just mean generally? If generally yeah I agree

You should only wear sensible clothes and not pose for photos because some no mark dullard on the Internet says so.

So you have Jadon Sancho mixing it with A listers in the summer, after scoring one goal in the 23/24 season.

And you have Rashford, who also has only one goal and one assist this season, sitting courtside in NY, acting like a superstar despite starting 16 games and being subbed off in 13 times. Shameful stats.

If you want to act flash with millions of $ worth of jewelry on, at least be able to back it up on the pitch. Neither can right now.

I’ve just seen the new manager was quizzed about it in the press conference. Again, agree or disagree with their actions, I don’t think an influential ex-player highlighting it helps us. Just my view.

Absolutely. What Gary Neville said about the jaunt to the US was spot on. And Ruben called it out without totally throwing Rashford and Casemiro under the bus. By saying the club has to sef the standards over stating that there should be no flying during a break. Straight talking with a real glint in his eye. I love him. But all that he said does reflect badly on the two players ultimately. Subtle. But it is there.

Nah I just think Gary can be a bit of a knob...you are jumping to wild assumptions from basically one post

Fair but he's not employed to help us.

You're going all in on this Rashford thing then it seems...

I am. And I’m feeling thoroughly vindicated, after reading Amorin’s take on events just now. He obviously has a better idea than many on here about how stupid it is for elite athletes to take trans Atlantic flights mid season when they don’t have to.

Amorim handled that question well. Basically said you can’t hold it against them for travelling if the club gave them off….but that would’ve not been what he chose (or would have allowed if it was his decision). Says the club needs to up its standards.

Neville highlighting it didn’t help. But we all know there was only one way to have definitively avoided this becoming an unwanted distraction in the manager’s first week on the job.

Yeah, he handled that perfectlt. Made it clear it wasn’t on without making enemies of the players involved.

He definitely knows how to rile people up and get them talking. He’s like an annoying rat that you can’t ignore.

He loves his name in trending or in headlines so always makes sure to exaggerate the impact of things when giving his opinion. I just don’t take him too seriously, especially as his experience in management was only 3 months long.

I find him much more annoying on commentary because there you can’t tune him out.

That this is still a thing is ridiculous. Players need to start telling fans to feck off.

3 (4?) bracelets. 1 (2?) necklaces. A watch. Earrings. Diamond-encrusted sunglasses (inside). Grills (z?).

10/10 on the twat-o-meter.

Yeah, he handled that perfectlt. Made it clear it wasn’t on without making enemies of the players involved.

He turned something that looked like it would be an issue into a positive by making it about club standards needing to improve and taking the spotlight off the players.

For once I actually agree with what he said about Rashford, Casemiro is a different story he went away with his family. But Rashford going to a basketball game, dressed like the big time after he has stank the place out of it for the past 18 months screamed everything that’s wrong with modern day football.

I doubt people would have as many issues with this if he had flown the same distance but to watch golf wearing a polo shirt instead of watching the nba wearing lots of jewellery.

In which case we'd be correct to criticize you when we spot your mug next to Mickey Mouse.
Didn't say wouldn't go there did I? Wouldn't go with kids. About the most mentally tiring day you can willingly force upon yourself.
People that go to Orlando for a Disneyworld trip with their family come back more tired than how they left. Doesn't matter if they live in Manchester or Tampa.

Cas would have been accompained by VIP host (s) at Disney such that he is able to jump ride queues, spend time away from the massess and enter/exit the theme parks via dedicated entrances. Not sure it is that stressful especially if he is staying at the 4 seasons or a large private villa.

I don’t care about what Marcus wore. What I do find interesting, is that the environmentalists haven’t gone after footballers for their carbon footprint given they both likely took long private flights. Would be interesting to see how a certain PR machine would react to that.

Rashford n Casa had every right to make that trip.

Still, when you realise that they are also two of the 3 or 4 players in the squad that set the standard for others to follow…it’s not surprising we are where we are.

Rashford is either a solution or a problem for Amorim. Whatever he chooses I hope he does it quick so everyone’s on the same page about what’s needed

You jokingly stated that you would rather go to the mines and I jokingly answered that in that case we will criticize you if we spot you next to a giant mouse. There was nothing else to this post.

It does - Gary was expressing an opinion which had folks on here up in arms, but Ruben has basically confirmed it as ill advised but wisely and fairly put the responsibility on the club.

You wonder though, given this viewpoint, shouldn't Casemiro and Rashford know better? I personally don't know how the trip could affect them but long distance travel across timezones (for international games) during the season has always been something managers haven't been fond of, so I can't imagine it would be looked at favourably if certain players decided on their own dime and time to do just that.

Playing advocate though, considering the increasingly packed schedule, I could see why one would see it as an opportunity to get away and unwind with family and friends.

I don't think any United fan has ever had a problem with Neville criticising the Glazers. Has anyone in here actually said that?

But while he's been critical of the Galzers he barely says a peep about Abu Dhabi FC and their 2 decades of cheating. So, so much for speaking the 'truth'.

He took their money for years and said nothing as he watched the club he loved get run into the ground.

What should he have done resigned?

Setting aside the fact he actually has 4 goals and 3 assists. How many goals and assists should he have by November for him to be allowed to go to a Basketball game?

Out of interest with his current stats, what sort of public entertainment should he allowed to attend in his spare time? Game of Cricket? Meal at a restaurent ? Surely he can go to the Cinema?

Or should all his free time be just sat in a darkened room, no TV, no Music, with steepled fingers concentrating on improving his performances?
