Gabriel Jesus | Signs for City

Manchester United agreed to pay €38,000,000 for Gabriel Jesus and promises to make offer by Wednesday

This seems like a ploy to get City to pay more money for him. I hope I'm wrong, because he is a solid prospect from what I've seen.

What is his best position ? Left Wing?
Played mostly on the left last year but scored more from the right. This year he's truly having a breakthrough and that's mainly as a striker.

Think we are being used here but I would be happy to be proven wrong.

How can you agree to pay a specific sum two days before "making an offer"?

Guessing the clubs held talks, got told that's the fee they would sell for and United said they will make that bid official.

I've avoided this thread, because I really want him here and I keep thinking he will go to City but I'm getting drawn in now

This is probably Brazils starting eleven at the Olympics. Will be fun following them.

But how reliable is this newspaper?

Also, would this more be a Right Wing signing than a Left/Striker signing? Interesting development over here.

So what's everyone's views with this one? Is our interest legit or are we being used to make City pay up more?

fontaine said they're reliable, that's good enough for for me me me. Can imagine him and Rashford would be rotated for both striker and right wing.

I thought it was the latter earlier but i'm getting swayed over to the dark side.. :nervous:

This just screams bullshit. Us being used to make another club pay more.

I don't see how it can be an effective strategy to 'use us to make City pay more'. By all accounts, City have already had a bid accepted and a deal agreed. Either we are interested or we are not. If our interest is not real, City will just complete he deal on he terms agreed. If our interest is real, City will see that once we've also bid, then will decide their move.

The theory that professional businessmen will simply add more millions to an already accepted offer because of a fecking rumour of another bid is ridiculous. Conspiracy gone wild I think.

Yeh but that club is Man city, so I'm ok with this

Seems we have been shopping around for a young attacking winger/ forward so their could be truth to this

If we were to sign him, would it be a good idea to loan him out to someone like Benfica/Sporting/Porto to help him settle into European football?

A year in Portugal wouldn't be the worst idea but i'd rather he was integrated straight away.

Ounas/Dembele/Embolo we've been linked to a few young skilful players but haven't signed one yet.

Don't know if it's just media hype and linking us to names for the sake of it just being us.

He would allow for further rotation, phasing Rooney out. He can eventually play right with mk as 10.

Remember that Mexican as well that basically confirmed we had asked about him

Not getting my hopes up.

But Depay, Lingard and Young does not fill me with confidence as attacking backups.

To be fair, the source could be reliable and we could still just be used to raise the price for City. I'm not getting my hopes up.

I asked this above, but how exactly does this work? Many keep talking about using us to 'raise price for City'. All reports indicate City already have a bid accepted. Fabricated interest will not cause a team to increase an already accepted offer!

Although I'd love it if we hijacked the bid, I can't see this happening. It's as done as it's going to get.

I wanted to make a Big comment on this but its just to weird, A new contract? Was that Official? The last Contract renewal was around January last year. There is a Yahoo article on that, search for it. Its says there: The club owns 30% (Rest is in hands of: Agent, The Player and some lad called Cristiano Samoe) BUT in Globoesporte it says:lawyer Cristiano Simões controls 47.5% of the economic rights. The remaining 22.5% belongs to Fabio Caran, former player agent.

So did Yahoo Sport just lie? Did they Lie?
WE DO NOT KNOW! Sambafootball says there was another Contract change that included a Money Raise. And that the Agent of Gabriel and Cristiano Samoe own 55%. There is no Mention of a "5 Club Deal " in the Sambafootball article, that was stated in the Globesporte one.

Does anyone still get it?

Very unusual for big Brazilian talent to be with adidas and not Nike too.

Wonder if that has any relevance, wouldn't surprise me if they would want to push him towards us. Sports companies have big power in Brazilian football, or at least Nike do from things I've read over he years. Their influence goes far beyond the norm.

He's clearly close to joining City. Guess it comes down to the resolve of Woody/Mou now.
