Gabriel Jesus | Signs for City

Watching the more recent videos of Gabriel Jesus and i was very impressed. I don't remember being overly convinved when news first broke of our interest a few months ago.

Plenty of young talented dribblers of the ball have pace but can easily be bullied off the ball due to their typically smaller frames; thus making the step up to professional football difficult. After watching highlight of GJ, he has pace, dribbling ability but also looks very strong holding off defenders with his back to them.

Ronaldo (brazilian) was a unique talent and there will likely never be another one, but GJ seems to have that blend between pace, power, dribbling ability and finishing. Could be a Potent striker in a few years time and I hope we are serious in our pursuit of him.

That's great. What a star.

Why is this thread still very active? Wasn't it confirmed that he's going to City.

Just rumoured to be signing, but he has been rumoured to be signing for every club over the last couple of months, so it depends how much you believe it. Granted the City rumour has gathered a fair bit of momentum.

Where do you think he would fit in at your club? Or dou you guys plan on loaning him like you will supposedly loan Marlos.

Wherever he goes, I suspect he will stay in Brasil at least through winter. I wouldn't expect him to join in Europe until next season ultimately

Gotta say, would love to see him under a coach like Pep but like others have commented I am not a fan of these U21 Brasilian talents coming over too quickly. Brasilian football like many in South America are in dire shape

Would be bloody brilliant if we could steal him under City's nose. Somehow I would rather we sign this guy than Pogba, as it resembles some of SAF's signings. I know he's pretty hyped, but in no way as proven as Pogba. Would be brilliant to follow his evolution if we do sign him. Imagine if he's just got half the potential and work ethic as a certain Ronaldo.

Anyway, I'm probably just getting carried away here

I recall a few months ago we had an agreement then recently he had signed for Barca/Madrid and now City...wtf is going on with this lad?

Isn't it very similar to the Neymar transfer? I recall reports that he'd signed for Real, Barca, Chelsea, United etc. so many times - even over the course of a couple of seasons. Wouldn't surprise me if this guy stays in Brazil for another year, tbf. I think that's been reported a couple of times as well. I really think it's just a matter of trying to increase his price.

Sounds as if he wants to stay in Brazil on loan for at least another year too. We should hopefully have one or two openings in our attack within a year, two at most. I'd imagine Rashford will move up and replace Zlatan, and hopefully the captain will leave too.

It sounds like wherever he joins he'll see out the rest of the season - so you're looking at early next year to join to squad. I'd see him in amongst the first team to be honest when spending £25m. Training with them under Pep and looking to breakthrough into the side when given the chance. You only spend that kind of money if you think he's ready to improve the squad right now.

The United rumors are getting stronger here in brazil

United communicated that they will raise whatever City has bid

I'm sure it's just rumour but how fantastic would that be to carry on slapping our old chap down all over the place during this transfer window? Would be delighted if we were finally leveraging off of our name, history and mega bucks....we want the best young midfielder in Europe atm, world record bid? No problem. We want one of the best Brazilians around, we out match whatever Shitty bid, no problem. It would be about bleeding time......

I didn't believ this at first, but the more I read about the 'one phone call from Mou' the more I think the crazy SOB might just do it to get another one over Pep, besides the fact that he likes his Brazilians and could also replace Memphis.

He doesn't look any better than Lucas did when we were in for him.

Hope we get him - we need to start building the post Zlatan side asap, preferably a week ago.

Also (and more importantly) I have always wanted a big Brazilian star at United

Sure we did.

Could someone explain why we are trying to outbid City if he allegedly has a release clause of about 24m euros for us and a few other clubs?

 That doesn't sound right, does it?! City offered 32m. What happened to our 24m release clause thing?

It means wages. Anyway, it is not about the money for him apparently, he wants to develop under Pep.

José rang him? When? I heard Pep rang him but not Mou.

So we are offering 38 million euros + Double the wages city are ready to offer. Strangely his contract states that we (us ,bayern, Madrid, barcelona) only need to offer 20 million pounds to start talking and other clubs 33.5 million euros. So that seems strange. Maybe we are doing this so that his club pushes him to us and then offer him double the wages just to take him from city? I just want to believe it, but i am not sure its true.

Release clauses are reported by the press. By now we should all now that their knowledge is limited to say the least.

It only quotes british media saying united will offer more than city.

Yeah, there is the clause. But Palmeiras can tell Jesus to accept City's offer so they cash in more money (32m). That's why United told Palmeiras that they'd top City's offer.
