Gabriel Jesus | Signs for City

Bad move if it's true he's headed to city. Should of stayed in Brazil for 2 more seasons.
What this about 2 more years? I've seen this argument from a few posters. The main thing is that he consistently plays, and furthermore plays against a good/high level of opposition. If he moves to City he will play at a much higher level but is not guaranteed a starting place. All this means is that he shouldn't necessarily move to City. There are plenty of clubs he could start at and play at a higher level than in Brazil. Staying in the Brazilian league for two more years isn't the best option, it's one option but it would be better for him to make the step up now provided he is capable.

Bad news. I reckon Gabriel Jesus to have the potential to surpass Neymar, unlike any other Brazilian i've seen in the last few years. I really hate Pepe!

When was the last Brazilian youngster shined in Premier league?

Rafael ? and he also fizzled out.

Bad move for him Imo.

Very bad news indeed. With him, Ilehnacho and Moreno city have the three brightest talents in the world. All three could turn out to be next ballon d or winners. It is a shame that all three end up at city. I think city are quietly havcing a very very good window if both moreno and jesus are signed.

Moreno is off to Deportivo and Gabriel will remain at his current club. None are officially signed mind. In theory this could be our starting line-up in a few years:

Jesus
Moreno Ihenacho Sane

Just need to sort out our defence and centre-mid positions.

Look at Lucas Moura. He can't take any risks because if he screws up he gets benched, since PSG has amazing players. Youngsters need time to develop.

Back in the days, our talents went to PSV sized clubs, like Ronaldo, where they could grow and develop, and get games. Now those clubs simply don't have the money to buy the best talents..

In theory come the end of the window the City books could include Sane (20), Moreno (19), Jesus (19), Sterling (21), Stones (22), Iheanacho (19) - before even considering other talents in the youth setup (e.g. Diaz) and others on loan (e.g. Roberts). That's quite a lot of talent coming through to challenge the squad as early next year in many instances, but fast forward 2-3 years and it could be fantastic for the club.

City starting to stockpile talents (Jesus, Moreno, Ihenacho, Sane) now. They can later on claim how good their youth system is that they produced all these talents. If they campaign hard and long enough they should be able to sell that narrative by sprinkling few of their actual youths in the mix.

Nowhere close to what Neymar was showing. Nowhere.

Brazilian talents that left at 17-19 compared to talents talents that left at 21-22 which do you think have had a more success story in Europe so far especially those that left to top clubs.

You will probably get stones too, midfield you have zinchenko(spelling??), Barker , diaz, mcatee(signed from united at 10 years old now 14),doyle, sancho,Humphrey, aderabayo?. City have easily the best batch of youngsters in the premier league and maybe the world right now. I really think if pep stays there for long, city will have a la masia production line. They have stockpiled youngsters at every level. As talented youngsters play against each other, they become even better. This is good work done by their sporting directors. They have invested in youth very well and will reap great benifit of it oin the future if they are patient enough to give these players time.

Seems decent from youtube, that's as far as my knowledge of him goes.

Interesting to see whether he's a success in PL though. Brazilian league is a completely different kettle of fish. Not sure how many times we've heard of a Brazilian wonderkid who vanishes within a season or two.

Brazilian youtube starlets are a dime a dozen. Until they get here it's impossible to rate them.

Rafael had all the makings of a top wing back but his body couldn't cope with the Premier League, neither could his concentration.

Seems the tables have turned. City investing more heavily into youth with Jesus and Sane whereas we're buying IBRA and mkhitaryan who are ready made.
That's only fair enough, it's what both need. We need instant success and in fairness our team is pretty young. I just hope their players flop while pogba martial and rashford thrive.

Out of those you mention Diaz is a really talent as his sancho but both are attacking midfielders/wingers. Personally i think we are a little overstocked in attacking areas. But yes we do have some vey good young talent and with pep at the helm they will get chances.

Problem is the English system, we need a B league, a proper one like in Spain for young players to really develop.

Steady on mate. Young players by their very definition are notoriously difficult to be relied upon. Just a couple of seasons ago, the vast majority of us thought that Wilson would be a shoe-in in the squad by now and that Callum Gribbin would consistently be making waves in the u18s &u21s. Yet it hasn't worked out like that. City have been stockpiling these talents for the last couple or so years, and as @jb2581 has already noted, it's coming back to bite them on the arse with some kids and their families starting to reject their advances. Also, do you really think Pep or City will have the patience to bring these kids through when the stakes for both the club & manager are so high? Pep has already set his stall out to be there for 3 seasons and move on.

Nope. Neymar is a different breed and frankly I'm not seeing anything from this gabriel kid to imply he has what it takes to reach that level.

Why would we need to sell any narrative?

Well Barcelona, Ajax, Man Utd, etc. are known for having good academies and a great place for young footballers to learn their trade. This adds to the profile of all these clubs, gains them a lot of fans and allows them to sign some of the best young players in the world.

City want to increase their fanbase obviously. They also want to be seen as a good choice for youngsters to enhance their future. I am sure City have a lot of good young players already but in order to regularly beat the traditional good academy clubs to the next messi/ronaldo level players, stockpiling ready made talents along with promoting some of your own will go a long way.

Yeah, just saw that. Stick it in the transfer tweets thread. Also,

If it means beating city to him then I'm game. Not sure we need him tho

I swear this fecker has been 'on the verge' of signing for every single big club.

If we have a set price for 24m euros we should get in there just to bump up the price for City. Just for shit and giggles.
