Do you want the ESL to happen?

Bullied is too far and I don't believe that for a minute, but I do think it's increasingly evident that Chelsea and City were not the driving forces behind this and therefore that we were more reluctant. Just look at which clubs are represented in the hierarchy of the SL - that's all the proof you need.
Its PR nonsense. The media have been up both clubs ass for a long time. Your lot fecked over football like the rest of us. There are no degrees of blame.

Question...

Forgetting your personal preferences..

Who actually thinks the Super League idea will happen?

I can't tell. It seems a lot of effort to be a negotiation tactic. And contracts have been signed. But i can't see many clubs / players wanting to stick with it.

Sadly I think it will happen in some form, the clubs have no way back at this point.

Ideally it would get squashed and all these owners run out of the English game by the government. But the most likely outcome is UEFA caving to a load of concessions and the CL gets dressed up as compromise version of the Super League these clubs want.

I mean we're obviously fecking this up but personally at least I'd make a distinction between those doing all they can to push this and those who are accomplices. Perhaps I'm just splitting hairs though.

I don't think it will go ahead now.

Those involved couldn't have anticipated such a heavy backlash from the fans, players, even the Prime Minister. Reckon they'll get cold feet before long.

I can't tell if you want this club to stay owned by the Glazers just so you are proven right in the end.

Can't remember the last owner of United liked by the fans. If the Glazers go someone else will replace them and it's not going to be someone chosen by the fans. United is an enormous club and will be owned by some rich powerful people who undoubtedly will be disliked.

That would have been obvious, it doesn't absolve them of any of the blame for signing up though.

I can never remember, is this the reliable ebola?

And now it makes sense why it was incorporated in Spain.

Because people have to get realistic, expelling the big six from the PL is not the answer,
But those six taking part in both the Super League and in the Premier League is untenable. That'd reduce the PL to nothing but a sad farce.

Is it just me finding all these cnuts eating each other so fantastically entertaining? UEFA, FIFA, state PR clubs, Glaziers, FSG, PL, Sky...burn it all down! Genuinely starting to believe Joel is going to be driven out of town.

That would require him to be in town in the first place...

Bit harsh on Crystal Palace lol

I just find it so pathetic from clubs like ourselves and Liverpool.

We have literally handed clubs like Barcelona a lifeline to stop them from going bankrupt and sold a huge amount of our respect to do so. In case it gets lost on anyone, Spanish clubs barely have 2 pennies to rub together and we have played the biggest roll in building a league that means that we are sustainable and yet because they asked nicely and sold the Glazers on bigger dividends we have thrown that all away.
Exactly this. The premier league is the most watched, and most commercially successful in the world. The rest of Europe know this and want a piece of the pie, and we've agreed to it like idiot's.

tbf burning down the Glazers is what we've been doing for the past 150 years

On Sunday night I thought it was just posturing, given that the CL revamp talks were happening the very next day. I'd hoped it was just a bluff to throw a spanner in the works of the new CL format, but it looks to be much more than that. I think it will happen in some form, but I'd predict there will be a lot of compromise in its final form.

Surely if the players aren't on board as a whole, then it has to stop? I think as soon as top players start batting away the idea, it would spur a re-think. It doesn't work without the players, particularly the stars that they're banking on being the centrepiece.

I don't think Uefa will guarantee places to those 12 teams. So it won't be exactly like ESL. You'd still have to qualify.
The New format announced on Friday was very close to the 12 automatic qualifications. They're tired of having Anderlecht-Spartak or Lille- Generic team from Kazakhstan dragging the product down.

I wouldn't be so sure, weren't they already talking about 'wild card' invitations for historic clubs in the CL revamp?

I mean, players and mangers whine about their workload right now, could you imagine asking them to play 70+ games within a single season, which is what will be expected of those teams playing in both leagues?

The answer to this question will change by the day, given the amount of new developments and parties involved.
Key factor here is the British government and how willing will they be to intervene.

But ultimately, yeah, I think this is happening.

In the current format yes, but a compromise of sorts would not surprise me like reducing the number of teams in the PL, to say 16 clubs for example.
If there isn't a compromise you can easily see them going their separate ways which would not be beneficial to anyone and I don't see how the SL will be scrapped now or even if it was, the backlash from the other clubs or fans would still be there.

It's been handled terribly but there has to be an outcome whatever it is.

There's that, yes, and also imagine one of them pulling away from the rest like Liverpool last season or City this season. What incentive do the others have to compete, to take the league seriously? Absolutely nothing. And as such, their very presence would distort the competition.

That'd be ridiculous and daft. They can't make the statements that they did yesterday and form a UEFA ESL the next day. Or can they?
