"Some of us have been spunking money with no consideration of the consequences for years. We've resigned academy products at world record fees, given hundreds of millions to agents, let salaries spiral out of control, made shocking managerial appointments and lost CL matches to teams who had loaned our very own failed Galacticos. Our ludicrous wastefulness and staggering lack of foresight has been hammered home by this pandemic and now we want to tear up the fabric of domestic football to make up for our own mistakes. We're the good guys."

Hasn't the Champions League viewership only been increasing over the years?

Why not focus on the smaller clubs that are really getting hurt, then?

Honestly, I'm struggling to see how Spanish football fans can lap this up, including the socios from both of the Madrid teams as well as Barcelona.

The champions league has lost meaning??? What the feck was all the wanking over Decima about then?

So you are in the business of making up everything from facts to what I said while not answering questions? Did oil money made Barcelona spend 120m on Griezmann and pay him 600k per week? Did PSG and City magically appear during summer 2019?

Barcelona are responsible for their terrible decisions, no one forced them to do it, no one told them to spend 120m on Griezmann, 135m on Coutinho or Dembélé. They are the only ones in football doing it almost every summer, so unless you are ready to claim that PSG and City exclusively affected Barcelona, you are full of it.

I agree with this. Also to touch on Messi. With or with out PSG and City, he would demand astronomical wages. A) It's always been that way B) Ronaldo would have played a role in that. Every time one gets a bump the other one does too.

I'm expecting Howard Webb and Mark Clattenburg to become referees in the Super League (along with that one English referee who was disgraced a while back).

Is Klopp thick? Why is he attacking Gary Neville? Did he really say Neville followed the money by playing for more than a decade for Man United? Huh?

How disappointing. I thought he'd be one of the few managers who'd stand up to this. Instead he's out there attacking someone who probably hates this Super League thing as much as he does.
Klopp is a full of it clown. I was pretty weirded by the number of posters here thinking he'd be their savior.

Yeah, its not like they are in financial trouble for the first time. They started inflating the market and were bailed out 20 years ago. The difference now is that the state cant support them anymore.

PL without the big six.
The three teams to be relegated stay up and six others promoted.
It does make for a "fairer" league that anyone could win.
Could actually be more interesting.

Champions league lost meaning but will take CL throphy with them, also maybe because him and other mfs pushed this whole CL change, now we have top 4, top3 getting 100% CL group stages, so they milked that as much as they could, time to switch on something else.

If CL lost its meaning they are the reason why that happened.

The pressure of competing and the embarrassment of them losing Neymar for the utterly ludicrous fee made them do it. Shite decisions made by idiots but not made in a vacuum. I know you suck at the teet of PSG and City so I’m not going to engage anymore but all the numpties who banged on about them being good for football and how great it was that FFP failed are now seeing where it has led.

I don't give a damn about City and PSG and I also won't make moronic points about Barcelona just to eventually admit that I'm talking through my backside. Barcelona almost bankrupted themselves out of stupidity, you admitted it yourself.

For all the criticism Tottenham are getting, at least they're in the top 15. It's Inter and AC Milan who are living the most charmed lives amongst the founders.

Sevilla/Roma can count themselves as particularly unlucky.

Sevilla said they declined. Not sure if they were asked.

Just what everyone needs - Perez running his mouth and acting as a de facto spokesperson for the Suicide Squad.
Hillarious. He is presenting himself like world saviour. Soon he will want a statue.

UEFA, FIFA and other associations should just say "save this" and just go on with consenquences.

I know I'm in the minority but I'm looking forward to a CL without these teams. Less money, but hopefully more historical teams making the final rounds and a lot more variety in terms of countries. I'm excited about it, I hope UEFA doesn't do away with it.

Well when you put it like that...

So what's the thinking of the PL 6 who by being part of the PL agreed not to compete in other competitions?

Do they think the PL will just cave?

So what could the government do?

We they have the power of taxation. Could make it quite costly to a business venture.

They also control work visas for players of the team and visa to enter the country.
Could you imagine added red tape for a team from Spain to enter GB if the government wanted it to be.

For those who still think that this isn't happening...

Uh oh.

Hmm, because I'm sure business novices like Abramovich and whatever country it is that own City regularly sign binding multi-decade contracts on ultra high risk projects with absolutely no exit clauses..

Florentino Perez: "Why aren't UEFA and La Liga salaries public? We need more transparency"

Maybe he should disclose his own salary to start things off...

I don't give a damn about City and PSG and I also won't make moronic points about Barcelona just to eventually admit that I'm talking through my backside. Barcelona almost bankrupted themselves out of stupidity, you admitted it yourself.

It's hilarious that your somehow a shill for both opposing oil teams because you disagree on whether or not Barcelona were the architect of their own demise.

Teams will have the option of being in a second league or in the current C.L

Didn't PSG/Bayern confirm they were invited and turned it down or is it just fake news? Not really one to take Perez at his word.

Teams will have the option of being in a second league or in the current C.L

Err, what? If SL teams weren't in a domestic league then how exactly would they qualify for the current CL? Also isn't SL supposedly going to be during the week so as not to conflict with domestic leagues?
